Hey MoJaxx! Thanks for this review. You saved me $100 on purchasing something else... I didn't even realize that the DJM-REC app was compatible with my DJM-450 - I've been transferring my vinyl collection all day. Only reason I ended up getting an iPhone. I’ve been using DJM Rec with my 750mk2 since it came out. It’s so easy to use, I use it to record anything out of the DJM and also just use it out and about to record sounds using my iPhone 8s mic. Love the ease of recording. Only thing I’ve found is that you can’t record more than 4gb (about 6hr 45m) in total (wav). I was hoping to record a 24hr party and found out at the end of the event that it wasn’t all recorded, at least I know now. Big ups Djcity

So I’ve been using this app for the last year or so and on the previous software version of it, it worked fine, especially via FB live. But recently after I updated the app, I started running into issues streaming where the audio would cut in and out from the master and then go super quiet, then just run off the mic on my IPhone 8 Plus. Phone would be in DND mode and using an official Apple charging cable still gave me the same problems. Bummed because this worked really well for $10. I ended up giving up after deleting the app and reinstalling to see if that would fix the issues but it didn’t and bought a Irig2 for streaming now. But as a recorder? This is flawless lol.

Quick update: this app works with any audio interface that can be connected to the iPhone, and trust me there are a lot out there. Obviously not all features work but most and as of it's a pioneer mixer even if its an analog mixer.

Here we are in 21 and it also works with the V10 I discovered. Have you gotten a chance to experiment with the app pulling the track info from your mix? I just tried and it was only able to get the time stamps for me to then be able to edit the track info. I'm pretty sure my pro dj link is properly set up haha. Oh also, I like that I can just airdrop my mix from my phone to my mac within moments! thanks for the reviews!

Using the send/return (via insert not usb), impacts the audio? does it cut? does it need to be activated as usb to get the sound?

I’ve used this 4 times in clubs to record my sets, and it only recorded a full set once. Couple of times it cut out randomly, and last weekend it switched to recording from the phone mic after cutting out twice. I’ll be using my tascam from now on

It's not the app, it's your charging port that's messed up. I have the same issue with my old iPhone 6 plus. I use my iPhone 8 plus or iPhone 11 Max and have no issues at all. Get your charging port changed.

Hello, do you have any advice please? I have a DJM450, the recordings with DJM rec are partly not successful. The app only records channel 1 sound, but you cannot hear channel 2 sound in the recorded mix?

This App can be used for many creative things he didn’t mention, ripping your vinyl for analog to digital and can use it with other mixers... u just need another hardware kit, Irig HD2 to connect to other mixers, it can also be used for voice sampling etc. The thing is, it will record any audio source not just DJM mixers

I really wanted to get a djm750 mk2 but the lack of a master balance turned me off 😢 every other 4 channel Pioneer mixer to date has had it & I would love to put the echo effect on 3/4 so it sounds like it’s raining beats & then pan it side-to-side with the balance knob. I wonder could the booth knob be mapped to do it instead?

I just tested this with 750mk2 (updated firmware 1.04) and iPhone X IOS 13.3.1 and the recording sounded great; however when streaming to periscope using same connection, it wasn't picking up the mixer audio, just the ambient room noise. Thoughts?

The Recording is controlled by the Channel / Master Selector which caught me out recently. I ended up only recording tracks played on Deck 1 and NOT from the MASTER.

Is there a feature to turn off background noise? When I used this app it seemed to record from the phone's microphone rather than directly from the mixer. That caused background noise such as static and voices to be picked up as well, which completely defeats the point of this app. Is there something I'm missing?

Hi, I’m pretty new to DJM-REC app. I started to use a DJM 750MK2 mixer in the bar where I play and I just decided to give the apps go. So, quite in a rush, attached the cable to the mixer and my iphone11pro and starred to record (after having selected usb on the return section of the mixer). At the end of the gig, I was a bit disappointed hearing the record: the music was on the background... I recorded everything was listening the app... What did I do wrong? Which setting I should select to record just the music coming from the mixer? Thank you!

This app has crashed on me at some of my biggest gigs and often leaves a crackling unbearable distortion sound periodically in most of my recordings. That being said it works in a pinch and since I havent dropped the extra coin on a field recorder it’s responsible for most of my uploaded mixes

Hey Mojaxx, cool video! I purchased the app, however I can't seem to record anything neither via jack cable or the thunderbolt cable from my DJM 750 MK2. It shows absolute silence, is there any other setting that has to be tweaked in IOS for it to work?

@@lucian2835 somewhat, I managed to get the signal to the phone by using the OEM lightning cable. Now I have the general problem with the app disconnecting after 1.5 minutes. This error is due to IOS 13 uncompatibility and is supposedly being updated soon, as stated by Pioneer Dj.

Just so you know you can also get a converter and plug it into the Rec Out of any Mixer and it does the same thing

GrizzlyAus it’s not the same technically, because you are converting the signal to analog and then back to digital again that way. With DJM-REC it stays lossless digital (with option to record in other formats). Another limitation of the Rec Out is that the Master volume knob of the mixer doesn’t actually effect the volume of Rec Out. The Rec Out just takes the summing of signals from the channels and direct outs it.

FYI - If you have an iPhone or iPad with a headphone jack and TRS to TRRS adaptor you can record from any REC out or BOOTH out or Master Out for that matter (but why would you want to do that?!) Just sayin’

Pro tip if using with audio device (iRig etc) Use the lighting port, DO NOT USE the headphone jack on an older iPad. The input of these ports cuts 100hz of sub bass out and is optimised for voice calls and not an audio line in. App is great though!

just make sure you use a original apple lightining cable , your recorded shows will be slower tempo at times. also the digital sound will not go through at times , it will sound live. the fix I found is to use the original apple cable.

The app is unfortunately not on par with recording into my Macbook, where the sound quality is better. The files sound more muffled and less dynamic when using the app as a recorder (via rec out into an interface for digital conversion)

I wonder what the quality difference is between this and recording directly from Serato DJ. I'd assume Serato DJ is better because it's recording the actual files.

There won’t be much in it, I suspect. Either is good enough for recording mixes. If I’m just recording myself using Serato, I’d use the software’s recording, just because it’s one less thing to hook up. But this is ideal for other/mixed formats, or multiple DJs.

Thanks for the review! I had issues with iOS 13.1.3 and 750 MK2 (latest firmware) - the recording stopped repeatedly by itself, after a few minutes in. Anyone had the same issues and knows how to resolve?

Just tried it again tonight. It’s still stopping the recording by itself. So annoying. I get about 7 minutes into a mix and bang, it just crashes and stops the recording. They really should not have released this - it is nowhere near ready.

@@willsavage100 Try setting the input level inside the app and maybe go out from rec on your mixer, rec often gives out a -10db signal

@@transmutationdotse thanks for your reply, Im running the setup as you described from the rec output of my "Omnitronic TRM-202 MK3 rotary mixer"... and have set input level to -10db. But the signal coming in is so full and overpowered (cant find the words to describe this well). Only way for clarify is to keep the volume on each channel to almost nothing
