this video is great! i found it very helpful while i’m currently window shopping for options to transition from my controller (which is also a pioneer one, and i love it for its size, usb powered, ease of use), but i’m trying to decide between and CDJ3k setup or this as the next step on my journey. Thank you for showcasing all the features on this unit.
I really appreciate the comment and glad that you found this video helpful!! If money isn't a concern I would go with the CDJ3k setup. They are very comparable it size but CDJs would be easier for transport because they are 3 separate pieces. Cannot go wrong either way through!
100% agree - it's easily the best controller on the market, even in 2023, for the reasons you mentioned. The value is just insane, being basically a 900nxs2 mixer with 2x 2000nxs2's. A strong argument could be made that this is actually BETTER than the mixer + CDJ's, due to the Master EQ and Pads adding capabilities (stem control, anyone?). Plus the Pro DJ Link is easier on the XZ, and it's still heavy but way easier to transport and set up than 2x CDJ's and a mixer. Oh AND it's less than a third of the price?! *mind blown* I upgraded to CDJs and the V10 recently, and I just sold my Gold XZ.. but I'm missing it already 😢because it's just so damn nice. It's one of the coolest pieces of tech for where it's situated, in its historical timeline. Probably one of the coolest pieces of tech I've ever known, period.
I couldn't agree with you more! Great input! There is a strong agreement for it being better than a cdj setup. Not to mentions the amount of cords you needs to set up cdjs compared to xz. I would love to get my hands of 1 or a pair of cdj 3000s to set them up with the xz and see what that is like.
Ok phew! Just one more thing, has it been discontinued and is it fully supported by Recordbox 7? I really want club experience but I am having difficulty working out the best product with some future.
You would be able to do that! What I am referring to when I say you access ch 3 & 4, is you can not load a track to ch 3 or 4 from the USB. To take advantage of those channels you need to use a computer or external devise.
A refresh on this unit would be nice - the opus seems like a niche item and this is geared towards people who want the pro feel for a lower cost and a bit more portability. With the A9 out now I’m waiting for 2024 - hopefully something to replace a 750 mk2 (maybe a A5 or A7 for the naming convention). This is like a nicer xdj rx3 with 2 channels for inputs - perfect for my needs but it feels a bit old now
I completely agree but i don’t think they will make anything that could replace a cdj setup at a lower price hence why they made the opus that is like u said very niche
You can play fromand record to the same USB no worries. And the extension lan port isn't for a sampler, it's so you can connect the device to a network or directly to your computer via LAN cable
I just bought the flx10, but decided to return it for an XZ. I like that it can record your sets easier. The only problem besides it being $1k more is that it’s so damn huge it lite really takes up my entire desk space. How do you guys have a basic studio setup and then have this thing cuz I can’t even have any of my other controllers on the desk now. My Mac mini can’t even sit there it has to be up on a shelf 😂
I completely agree with you lmao. Trying to find a good spot for the xz to be set up and ready to go at all times is a struggle. Not to mention transporting it anywhere is no easy feat. Still at the end of the day my favorite board besides a full CDJ setup
@@leonidasaahoo7301 go with the xz it’s worth the extra money and you can just upgrade later adding cdjs and a mixer even if you have to sell the xz to get the mixer you’d be all set.
Hi, I have the xz, I always mix in the headphones with the cue, when the vocalist works with me his microphone annoys me, can I remove his microphone during this operation? as? Thank you
I don’t think there is a way go get around that with just using the xz. But you could route the audio from the xz into a audio interface and connect the vocalist mic to the audio interface. Then the interface connects whatever speakers and/or computer to record
The XZ is pretty close to being too big also. But don’t think they will ever put out a board that would be able to replace a CDJ setup for a third of the price unfortunately. Hence why they released the Opus that has a very different look and feel than CDJs or XDJs
You have to load songs from rekordbox (laptop) to access all 4 channels unfortunately. You can load songs from usb at the same time, just only to channels 1 & 2.

How does it compare to the flx10? Im not shure wich one to pick for home. Does the flx10 also translate well to a cdj club setup, or is it better to get the xdj xz?
flx10 is a great option to prepare for a cdj setup, things to be cautious of is the cdjs will not have the stems option and you have to use a laptop with flx10. The advantage of the xdj xz is being comfortable using only a usb and familiarity with the built in screen as opposed to a laptop screen. Ultimately comes down to budget and personal preference but cannot go wrong with either imo.
@@leonidasaahoo7301 If you want to be as close as you can be to cdjs Id say the xdj-xz is the best thing out rn. Still some differences between that and cdjs but def that closest you can get.
there is no sampler in xz nor the opus. but i use the pioneer xp1 as the sampler unit and control the volume with the AUX knob. it depends on the software u use too
