Great vid! I have a question? I want buy a pair of XDJ-1000MK2s or CDJ-900NXS to connect with my XDJ-RX. Will I be able to still use the effects on the RX mixer as shown in the video? Or will I only be able to use just the filters?
Hello, I upgraded to the xdj-rx 2 so i cant currently test it out and am not sure if you can but I know on the xdj-rx2 all effects work on any devices plugged in via phono or line in. Ill see if I can dig any info for you.
Super Kleen Media okay cool. I seen a video earlier where a guy had a pair of CDJ 2000s hooked up to his XDJ-RX and was able to still use all of the effects and performance pads.
thanks for the vid DJ Tide! With the turntable connected, can you use it to control mp3 files from the usb stick on the left XDJ-RX channel (kind of like using a turntable with Serato DVS), or can you only use vinyl records as a sound source?
Salvador Herrera love the pic of your Yorkie, looks just like mine! To answer your question, no it doesnt work like Serato or Traktor. What you can do is connect Traktor Scratch or Serato to the xdj-rx via the audio box e.g. Audio 10 or the SL boxes. This works because the XDJ-RX acts as a standalone mixer, so you can switch between the turntables or the XDJ-RX mp3s. Hope this answered your question!
Hey man,I'm having a struggle between getting the Xdj-Rx and the DDJ-SX2,I really love the fact that the Rx is Standalone and all but what I really want from it is to be able to slice the beats like the ddj sx2,is the RX able to do that? Helping me choose would be appreciated :)
***** Yes as a mixer or a controller. I'm in an in between stage with the workflow of Traktor & Ableton right now. There's things that Traktor does that Ableton doesn't and vice versa. But I discovered a few days ago that Ableton works great for what I want to do for now. I know I some point I will be upgrading when I have a bigger budget. I've been looking at this to start out with Pioneer and the DJM-900 or DJM-2000 Nexus way, way, way, way in the future lol
Are you looking to use Ableton for live sets or for mixing actual tracks? If the former I would recommend the Ableton Push or a similar controller. If you want to get into djing, I would recommend the Traktor s2,s4, or s8. I'll make a video this weekend or so showing how Traktor is with the XDJ-RX as a mixer, thought Traktor itself has more options when it comes to the software.
***** I will be using Ableton for mixing sets. I have a Maschine Mikro MK2, not really feeling the Push at all. I love my Maschine! I use it with Traktor and Ableton. I also just bought a Launchpad Mini for launching more clips in Ableton. I can do it on Maschine, but it only has 16 Pads, which I use for production vs. the Launchpad Mini has 64 Pads for launching clips. I'm just getting use to session view. I've been producing in Ableton for 8 years+ and never dealt with clips until now. I was also looking at the Native Traktor Kontrol D2 as well. I looked at the S2, S4 & S8. But I decided for now to get a Native Traktor Kontrol X1 Mk2 to use along side of my Maschine and Launchpad. I can midi map it in Ableton and use it in Traktor should I decide to. But again, Ableton is winning for me as of now. The XDJ-RX or D2 are the ones I'm looking at moving up to afterwards. I've spoken to Pioneer and they weren't able to confirm how the XDJ-RX would work in Ableton and Traktor. But they stated that it was still in development at the time and it may be possible that a midi mapping script for both Ableton and Traktor would come in the future. If you do a video/tutorial using Traktor, that will be so helpful. I really do appreciate you being helpful. Others I've reached out to have been the opposite:)
There actually is a midi mapping already out for Traktor, but from what Ive heard it really isnt that great yet. I'll try making a video for that as well once I figure out how to make it work.
Hey man, thank you very much for this helpful tutorial. I am connecting two Technics 1210MK2, and I am having a slight trouble with the one connected to Channel 2. The sound comes out from only the right speaker, whereas if I am playing from the turntable linked to Channel 1 sound comes out from both speakers. Any idea what could be the problem?
You can use it as an external mixer, but you would only have access to two channels at a time. The xdj-rx2 has an aux input where you can put in a third device via rca, but you only have access to your gains and no eqs.
unfortunately you will still have to use a seperate usb stick for the cdj and for the xdjrx, as there is no ethernet support to connect the two devices like how you can with two cdjs.
Long story short, Ive used the nickname Tide since I first attended raves,where I would wear a shirt with the Tide logo on it. When I got into DJing I kept the nickname, and since DJing has been a huge part of my life, I decided to get a tattoo of the tide logo, only the circle would be a vinyl record.
