By far the best part about this is how it follows the original’s pacing. The way the chimes where introduced, the marimba, the camera choices all feel the same, it’s just Mario instead. Very impressive.
@@Mega_Croissantamence The original sound sample is a labeled as a marimba (from a Roland R-8M sound card), but most of the marimba sounds from old keyboards and sound cards sound like xylophones

@@Mega_Croissantamence it's a marimba but they use hard acrylic ubber mallets like the ones you use on a xylo, probably to match the hard balls in the animation
If I remember correctly, Pipe Dream was released as a showcase demo for ATI brand graphics cards. This demo was the actual assets performing in real time instead of a pre-rendered video. If you could get your hands on this demo, you could create your own Pipe Dream animations using the actual 3D assets from the animation. I'm guessing that's how this was made.
Somewhere I have an archive of most of the older ATi demo's and screensavers. This one specifically was to showcase the new R300 architecture in the Radeon 9700. Development of R300 was heavily derived from the GameCube's GPU, however the GC is half the size with half the clocks. There's a possibility it could handle this from a feature level but would definitely be slow.
@@CheeseMiser So was Animusic ;) but yeah the midi animator script made it a LOT easier. The animating and scripting was done by @TheZacher5645, and I definitely couldn’t have done it without all of their work

I always wished we'd get them to release an open version of the sets for these, because they're all MIDI driven, so theoretically as long as all the notes you plug into it are within the ranges they've animated for, it should be plug and play with just some camera work needed.
The model was ripped from an official Animusic graphics demo app for Windows (it’s the only model they’ve made available) but I’m currently working on remaking the model and animations for a different Animusic video
Yeah, Animusic is making a return! I remembered seeing Pipe Dreams in its original form, and it was revolutionary for its time. These days, using music to time animations is quite common.
My favorite part about this ISN'T the basically one-for-one recreation of the original set in a different engine, but how amazing the arrangement is. It feels like Lytle himself did it.
Everything about this is so well thought out: - The same pacing, tempo and key as Pipe Dreams 1 - The transition into castle theme - And most of all, the fact that the whole franchise of Mario revolves around going up and down pipes!
I'm impressed that you managed to combine some of the motifs of the original Pipe Dreams with the Mario soundtrack. This went above and beyond simply covering a piece on different instruments and well into composition and arrangement. Bravo!
Loved Animusic back in the day and was totally just expecting mario music over the original animations, but wow! Bravo to whoever put this together, amazing work! Thank you for keeping an animation classic alive
Finally. Animusic memes. Dad got their first DVD with al these animated songs when I was a kid and I watched them over so many times. Pipe Dream here was easily the most memorable and memeable. This must've come out over 20 years ago by now damn.

This is great! I saw animusic when it first came out with my buddy at his grandparents house. Now I’m 35, raising 5 kids and they have all seen animusic. THIS is like that thing you didn’t know you needed until receiving it. Awesome stuff

Ah yes... I remember like it was yesterday. Little ole me exploring the TV section only to get stopped by the mesmerizing animation of Animusic. I would sit in front of the TV and watch as different scenes played out with intricate details and complexion to create the music shown. A wildly creative DVD pack that I proudly own.
Idea: Cathedral Pictures but it's the full Pictures at an Exhibition (you can omit the 5th promenade, because it isn't in the Ravel version). It would be a huge undertaking, but it would be cool to see.

Bruh, glad this popped up in my feed. Animusic was a part of my childhood. It's so wild to realize that someone recreated it in Roblox then you come in and make this midi masterpiece! Wish the other Animusic sets were recreated so others like you can utilize it but I can see how much work was put into just this one. 10/10 would love to see more compositions like this❣

This is actually amazing. The visuals could easily be mistaken for an ACTUAL animusic video. The modeling and lighting are impeccable. But what really makes this great is the music. I don’t know how you did it, but this sounds exactly how I would imagine a pipe dream underground theme would sound. TL;DR : You are the second coming of Wayne Lytle
When I just came upon this I thought this was something uploaded a decade ago. But to realize that this was only uploaded just earlier this week really makes this surprising to see that the Animusic community is still alive and kicking after all these years.
I absolutely cannot handle the nostalgia overflow in my brain from the combination of Animusic, and my love for playing Super Mario. In other words: This is a *_MASTERPIECE!_*
God I wish Lytle had released the software for these to the public. Imagine how fantastic these would be to teach programming. I would absolutely learn how to program Pipe Dream to play some absolutely bonkers songs if I had the chance.
I really hope if we get a new 2D mario game anytime soon that the underground theme sounds something like this. I feel like they never do enough with it. This just sounds incredible and I just really want something like this for it
