Webeco commissions new concrete pipe line with test section for quality control from REKERS
Founded in 2007 by Philip and Johnny Welkenhuysen, Webeco is a family-owned company with a passion for precast concrete elements and a strong drive for innovation in products and production techniques. The combination of knowledge and experience put into practice by a dedicated team of experienced employees has only one goal - to offer the customer the best and most economical solution.
Pipes from DN 400 to DN 1200 are produced at Webeco, the smaller pipes in triple production, larger diameters in double or single production. The pipes are between 2,250 and 3,000 mm in length. A speciality at Webeco is water-permeable pipes (infiltration pipes), which are also produced. Rekers from Germany supplied, among other things, a pipe transport system, the pallet handling system and a test section that checks and ensures the quality of the concrete pipes.
The pipe machine is fed via a 3,000 litre bottom discharge bucket conveyor from Rekers. The cured pipes are moved into position by a mobile removal trolley so that the Rekers manipulator can pick up one cured pipe at a time, including the base pallet. After the pipe has been presented above the base pallet carriage with the two-sided gripper, the base pallet is pressed down onto a pallet carriage by a special hydraulic mechanism on the manipulator. The pipe is then turned 90° by the manipulator and placed on the pipe transport line.
The pressed-off pallet remains in the production circuit and is first cleaned fully automatically in the pallet cleaning station, which was supplied with a dust removal cabin. The pallet cleaning station can be used for all pallet forms and diameters. The turntables underneath the cleaning station are swivelled alternately into the pallet cleaning area and the take-up and removal position. This means that cleaning and feeding work take place at the same time. The pallet manipulator picks up the cleaned base pallet and places it on the pallet conveyor. At the end, another pallet manipulator picks up the pallet and stores it, transfers it to the pipe machine or places the pallet on the double gasket mounting table. For concrete pipes with integrated gaskets, gaskets are pulled onto the pallets in each case beforehand. The double mounting table with rotary function alternately serves the mounting station and the take-up and removal position of the pallet manipulator.
Rekers’ test sections for pipes and manholes provide proof of the required close tolerances for concrete pipes and manholes. Various test parameters are determined and documented to give the discerning clientele the assurance that the valuable underground construction products are dimensionally accurate and functional for decades.
Individual stations on the test track include deburring, leak testing, pipe measuring, labelling and the stack manipulator. After the cured pipes have been placed on the transport line at Webeco, they pass through the fully automatic test section. First, the pipe is deburred on the spigot end and socket side. This is done fully automatically both inside and outside.
