Sir, Good day, I would like to ask for your help regarding of how can i design bundle pipe pulling of 3x225mm, 2x125mm and 1x32mm total of 6 pipes with a length of 200m in a depth of 20 meters. I am new in this industry and as I study the design in a book of McGraw-Hill it is only single pipe. Sir, what consideration I will do first in order to design 6 pipes in a bundle so that the design is correct and safe. Thank you so much, your help and response is most appreciated. Thanks Rey for your enquiry regarding bundle conduit installation via HDD. This type and size is common place conduit bundle for HV cabling. Considerations as follows. 1. Ground conditions:- A full Geo-Tech investigation of the site will be required. If you’re looking at a maximum depth of 20m, geo-tech bore holes should be undertaken to a depth of at least 10m below bore profile, at multiple points along the alignment, 4-5 boreholes with full report including rock cores for inspection if encountered. 2. Bore Profile:- this will be dependent on a range of factors including; what is the reason for the crossing; Road/Creek, River, services? Also the achievable bend radius in the known ground conditions (Geo-Tech) is a major factor. If hard rock is to be encountered a 200m crossing with a maxim depth of 20m will not be achievable. You will exceed a safe working radius of the drill tooling to be applied in rock ground conditions. The depth and length might need to be considered. 3. Conduit HDPE:- there is no problem installing bundle conduit configuration via a HDD method, however your client might have specific requirements for their cabling. I.e. (1. Bend Radius) (2. total haul ability, of cable into Bored crossing) (3. thermal resistivity) the HDPE conduit will need to be PN16 at minimum, also the 32mm should be upgraded to 90mm at minimum to ensure it can handle the install load.
