Did you get half way through it and think to yourself "am I really watching someone do something I dread doing?" because that is what I ask myself when I watch RU-vid sometimes. But I guess it is nice to all join in and celebrate the mundane things of life together. So, here's to you! Thank you for watching and hanging out with us.
I really don’t understand the whole point of heavy starch, we have hands show up , all starched And pressed , and within a hour they look like crap, y’all do it to keep from catching fire? I can’t stand to have a rash, and starched pants and shirts give me a rash and the red
We even had problems in Texas (west Texas). The place in Stillwater, OK has our heart. People back home don't know how easy they have it with a place right in town that does it right.
I was in the military, easiest way is a 5 gal with a lid, pal 3 gal of starch. Wash and dry damp, then take out and dip in pal, hang up dripping or put back in the dryer on low until almost dry again and then iron with that spray bottle mixed 25/75 water/starch. They will stand on there own both pants and shirts and you will not sweet the starch out nor wash it all out! I could wear a uniform for a week just iron each day if had too. 😉
So the trick is let it soak huh!? Shit! I've always wanted my shirts to stand up all on its own. Thanks for the vid, seriously! I didn't put much effort into finding out how, but once I saw the title, I was all in and watched it twice. 😂 The boring life of a divorced (drunk) man living in a 19ft toy hauler trailer. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you finally someone who cares about there shirts being really starched - also like the set up you have. I have the same lunch box and I’m getting a old timer w / sheath in the mail and going to order some more Wrangler shirts for work - working home repair man / landscaping you gotta be safe and look good at the same time - love the starch vidz
Hey Freddy for shirts check out Martin Brothers. They're out of Oklahoma. Troy and Danny, couple old timer pipeliners making really nice heavy cloth shirts. The shirts Austin is startching up in this video are Martin Brothers.
So its protection from your torch for welding ? Just curious Cuz I wnana get into the field it's funny Cuz back in Los Angeles the gang bangers use to starch there clothes up like that in early 90s and 80s and u would here of some of them surviving a bullet because the bullet was so small it just bounced of there pants 🤣🤣🤣 those .22 really only good for point blank range on the real 🤣
A good way to do it is, wash your clothes in starch..air dry..they apply another coating of starch..then press out. After years of pressing BDU's and then as a civilian pressing my 13mwz's and brushpoppers this is what I learned
Austin and Kayla Good point, I used a large tub with starch and water. Yes it does require an extra step, but well worth the time. When you look good, you feel good. I can not stand looking like a bag full rags.lol Keep up the great work! Greg
Good to see there's still men out there that take pride in their appearance and work. In appearance, I'm talking about whatever you wear, make sure it's clean, presentable, and makes a statement about who you are? If you roll out of bed, throw on a wrinkled, dirty, slouchy shirt, jeans or pants covered in wrinkles, and don't care about how they look or dress? It is unbelievable; things I see grown men wear, anymore? You're a man...live like one, dress like one, and start being a man! Nobody is looking for the best dressed, most expensive, or a red carpet opportunity...but I am talking about cleaning your as$, proper hygiene, and clean, pressed uniforms, jeans, or pants? I know that no one's trying to impress anybody for stature or socially, but the exodus of men who are giving up on the values and principles handed down from generations to generations by father's to sons. Think like men, dress like men, and be a man. God bless all the men before us, the men today, and those to come. I'd like to conclude this segment by saying that the verbiage chosen to describe a living, adult, male, self admitted person, human being, is...by definition is called a man! I did not make reference to any women, trans people, LGBT, Religion, color, or gender, in my comments for the simple fact that the message, I felt compelled to share, in my opinion, to men, about men? I, in no way, meant any disrespect towards anyone in my comments. I won't do it and I won't let anyone else do it either. I just wanted to share that because this content isn't meant to offend or make anyone feel uncomfortable.
Man I love me a nice pressed shirt I went through officers training and we would stand at attention for hours in fresh pressed and starched uniforms there would be puddles of sweat and starch around your shoes after the day not sure how that made us better leaders but they did it anyways and I would press and starch my uniform fresh every night for the next day it just looked sharp as a razor
I have Learned not to use dryer sheets for your welding clothes something in the dryer sheets will cause your clothes to catch on fire if you don’t believe me when you get your clothes out of the dryer from using dryer sheets take a cigarette lighter and strike it on a pant leg tell me what you get
I'm glad you made this video. I noticed in other videos how starched your shirts are and I just thought "Man he is a true southern boy." I am not and I haven't starched a single shirt since I separated from the military. Nowadays the uniforms the Air Force has don't even require starch. I learned how to starch properly from a southern friend of mine from Tennessee.
We were kinda spoiled growing up and had ours done at the cleaners. Any tips we need to know from you or your TN friend? We love learning news tips to get better at it when we have to do it ourselves.
Austin and Kayla I rarely had anything done at the cleaners when I was in the military, but I had my best luck when I would pull the garments out of the wash, and then starch them while still wet, and let air dry. Once dry, press as usual. That’s just my $.02, though, so take it for what it’s worth lol!
Also amazon has this brand called Ben Davis alot of welders use it it's actually a pretty thick and tough brand that u dnt need as much starch on them stiffer then any brand new wranglers
then someone finds those towels and god knows what they'll be thinkin you did with it haha, in the military at times all we had was shaving cream, used that on the creases, works well but that smell...will never leave my brain
Was wondering when this video was coming I'm getting tired of burning holes thru my expensive fr shirts.. hope this helps cuz I'm about to do the same thing today
Used to love stay flo. Orded some starch called star brite. A little goes a long way, starches up clothes like you wouldn't believe and doesnt leave your clothes feeling rough and itchy
I know you guys like to look good and that's cool but that is time consuming I just use the green fire retardant welding jackets or the ones with leather sleeves being a Union Boilermaker the contractor supplies us with personal protection equipment keep up the good videos
Man I really like them shirts austin I was wondering what brand they were I'm fixin to get one I do weld on occasion not alot but I figure if you're wearing one they must be good...at least better than my miller jacket that looks like a shirt lol
Austin I think the cabin fever is setting in lol. This is the best welding channel on youTube.A few instructional field videos would be great keep up the good work guys.
You probably wont answer since I dont see much activity in this channel anymore lol but do you happen to know the name of the beat you used in between climbing the stairs and getting the stuff out?
I don't. I use too many to remember. Wonder if there is a software that could find it? I use royalty free music but I know that doesn't help in the search.
A fresh starched shirt deserves a pleat ironed in the back panel, but not up past where the back panel joins the piece across the top. Stay sharp my friend.
much trouble finding starch on the road? or should a person try to bring a lot with them? I am new to the whole starch thing, but will be trying after Hurricane Florence & aftermath leaves us. too much to learn still. lol.
anytime you need & cant find it at all, feel free to holler, unsure what shipping would be, but several stores near me carry it in 1/2 gallon containers.
Yes. the starch keeps the tattered fabric from catching fire as easily. The sparks from the welding just kinda bead up and roll off of the heavy starched shirt.
