Anyone is allowed to date anyone regarding of race. I'm honestly really disappointed in those who thinks it's not a good idea. I fully support McCutchen, he's a classy man and also an excellent ballplayer. If anything some of you are jealous because of his success. Know what? I'm proud of McCutchen.

I saw on the show Inside Pirates Baseball one day about the all star game and they had this parade and you could tell when they showed Andrew and Maria together they looked so happy and definitely could tell she was in it for love and not money.
sportsygirl8 Why not both? She is an aspiring actress (or so some reports suggest) and she may also be mindful of the money. I'm not saying she dislikes the guy, he seems pleasant enough. But, women like that tend to wind up, perhaps in a subsequent relationship, with a more stable type of partner.

I agree with MrSchultzstaffel. If this were an all white, black or straight marriage proposal, Ellen wouldn't have had them on her show. She really does like to push the racial agenda button. Also, notice this isn't happening anywhere else in the world except here in the good ole USA. You don't see many gays or black/white marriages in Asia, Russia, Europe...etc. Only in America.

Lostinthefog87 Black men do not have an obligation to marry a black woman. However, it is kind of ironic most of the young black athletes who have made it to the next level have either married outside of thier race or have a "other" girlfriend. i.e. Robert Griffin III, Tiger Woods (he still hasn't learned), Russell Wilson. I'm a 48 yr old "O'le G" there is nothing sweeter than having a strong black woman by your side, I would not have it any other way. But hey it really comes down to "To each his own".
Kevin Jubert Well as a white man married to a black woman, some people in society might look at me as "marrying down". It's a messed up concept, but I made my choice because she's a great lady. Alternatively, I suppose some black men may think that by marrying a white woman they are "marrying up"? Of course I have no proof of this and its not good to judge because for all I know they truly love each other...just throwing an idea out there..... Also, I think it has a lot to do with class symbolism. People are more likely to marry others according to similar income status. Since whites are more economically advantaged on average, white women are more likely to marry wealthy black men and vice versa. I suppose when Black athletes, or well to do black businessmen, politicians, etc come into money their dating circle opens up to more options.
What I don't get about racist people past and present is: Do they think heaven is segregated?? God has a special place for them in heaven, as thanks for all their evil, undermining, dirty hateful deeds done while here on earth?
Heaven, it is well known, is white. Everything in the place is white. Clouds? White. Angels? White. Pearly gates? Well, not actually white, but close enough. Of course, it is possible that affirmative action has infiltrated heaven as well as down here. It could be that some poor white guy who was on the borderline of getting in to heaven got bumped in favour of some black guy who had more sins, but whose guardian angel played the race card with Saint Peter. I don't know if blacks would like heaven anyway, it might be a little too boring for them. God isn't much for the bling bling, and I know harp music and rap do not go together. There may be some sort of "projects heaven" though, where you shoot hoops all day, shoot each other all night and smack your bitch up the rest of the time.
