The best trilogy ever, still love part 3 among the franchise despite the critics! Sadly part 4 & 5 are just studio cash grabs that killed the franchise. Take this retrospective POV and realize that part 3 was such a classic masterpiece that people didn't appreciate enough ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YtEYWMuw5c8.htmlsi=WzRmIqdNQ5LbWwE0 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yzr00DEUmPo.htmlsi=DC4XtuzgMNgBJYIM

29:05 Fun fact: the scene where Jack and Beckett are talking for the first time in this movie, there's a deleted scene showing their previous relationship by Beckett saying that he remembered seeing the Black Pearl sinking while set on fire (caused by Beckett) because Jack set free "cargo", which Jack replied that "people aren't cargo, mate". This implies that those people were Beckett's slaves. Not only Beckett sank the Black Pearl, but he branded Jack with a "P" on his wrist so the Navy would go after him for being a pirate.

This it´s a great great movie, with a total rollercoaster at the end. Some facts: - I think that Norrington it´s a very underrated character. In his best or his fallen, his behaviour was always like a real MAN. That final redemption, leaving Elizabeth and the rest the chance to escape, honors him. And of course he loved her in all moment, and deserved that final kiss. - Jack´s father it´s Keith Richards, the guitarist of the legendary Rolling Stones.

Okay so small detail that isn't explained. If you stab the heart you do not automatically become the Captain of the Flying Dutchman. You have to finish the ritual and replace your own heart with the one you stabbed. "Part of the ship; Part of the crew" is a literal meaning.

I'm actually rather embarrassed it took me so long to realise this. lol

Davy Jones is sailsman of deads right? You remember how his ship (The Flying Dutchma) come every time? His ship is coming from under the sea everytime remember? And That's what The Black Pearl's doing exactly.. Jack found "up is down " situation to go to living world from the dead's world.. After they managed the "up is down" condition, The Black Pearl appeared from under the sea and came to living world.. So, Davy Jones' ship always comes from the world of the dead as it appears.. The Black Pearl used Davy Jones' entry method only once.

Almost Mr. Movies. Yes Jones is the Ferryman, but no; Beckett has nothing to do with it. Jones had corrupted his duty over a century before Beckett was ever even born. Jones HIMSELF stopped ferrying souls and became the mutated sea creature he is now after Calypso stood him up. That was a LONG time ago. These dead souls are only recently killed yes, but Beckett isn't the cause for why Davey Jones is the way he is.

I've always felt at odds with the PotC community in relation to this movie. It's my favorite. Objectively the first is the best, and as a trilogy they're solid.... but At World's End is my favorite for all of its solid moments. It wasn't until I was a bit older and watching these movies over again in preparation for a convention, that took a pirate theme that year, that I'd noticed all of the amazing little things that come full circle throughout the trilogy. Everything in the first three FEELS important! That said, there's plenty of stuff from this movie that was left on the cutting room floor that would have helped the narrative out. Some examples are a scene featuring Governor Swann on the Dutchman, making a move on Jones' heart. Hoping to kill Jones and save Elizabeth. At which point Jones enters the room, goads him into doing it by saying the Kraken killed Elizabeth, and then reveals the rules for his curse. After the exchange, and Governor Swann's inability to kill Jones, Mercer and Beckett decide to kill him. and another when Jack and Beckett meet for the first time in the movie. They have an exchange dealing with their prior history. Jack was employed by the East India Trading Company once, tasked with shipping cargo, and set said cargo free. "People aren't cargo, mate." To which Beckett responded with burning the ship, and letting it sink. This scene was a lovely nod to a novel that went over Jack's backstory and told of how the Black Pearl came to be, and how Jack entered into a deal with Davy Jones. (Something that may or may not be disregarded in the future) This trilogy is my all time favorite trilogy. I've watched them nigh endlessly. I love these movies, and I'm glad you guys gave them a shot! Looking forward to On Stranger Tides!

BOTH. It's NOT impossible to hate someone you love, nor to love someone you hat. I would argue that it is in fact impossible to hate someone you do NOT love. "Hate" is an extremely powerful opposition to Love. Hate is also not something one just happens to feel. Hate is something taught and/or cultivated it needs roots to BECOME Hate. There has to be a pre-existing emotional connection of some kind. Hate also takes effort and dedication; just like Love does. so Davey Jones DOES indeed hate Calypso for flaking on him, but he only HATES her because he loves her.

There was some forshadowing of Tia Dalma being Calypso in Dead Man's Chest. When the crew is at her hut there is a necklace on the table when Jack is stealing a ring. The picture on the necklace is the same image on the music box on Davy Jones's pipe organ. Furthermore, when Tia tells the tale of how Davy Jones fell in love with a woman, Gibbs says that he heard a different version of the tale in which Jones fell in love with the sea. She then says that they are two versions of the same story and both are true. Keith Richards from The Rolling Stones plays Jack's father. He was Johnny Depp's main inspiration for his character. He was actually set to appear in the previous film but had to pull out due to his commitment with the band's tour. Fun fact: The sword Davy Jones stabs Will with is the sword Will made for James Norrington in Curse of the Black Pearl. Speaking of, James is such an underrated character. He was complex but a good man and he genuinely loved Elizabeth.

They said it couldn't be done. Theme Park attraction turned into one movie and then 2 more. Becoming one of the highest grossing franchises of the 2000s and Disney's history. Johnny Depp's stardom after that first film was astounding. A more-beloved leading man, Oscar/Golden Globe nominations (Best Actor) and a major-box office draw after 20 years in the biz. At World's End was a great finale. Most expect trilogies to come and go. But some of us, even Disney knew it wasn't the last. That last scene of Jack off to another adventure. Like we were never going to see him again (yeah right) and like everyone else, I said bring it on. Those next two installments are pretty good as well.

So, I saw this in theaters; and on a few different DVD versions; AND a few different digital copy versions; and not a single one translates what Giant Calypso is saying as she yells at the crew after she's released. Normally is MOST movies if a foreign or alien language is spoken there is a translation that is included without needing to turn on subtitles. Like in Star Wars for example there is a subtitle option that translates ONLY alien languages (Except Whookie for some reason) but doesn't show any other speech text. Most modern movies since DVD has this option. But there's none here for Giant Calypso's distorted voice. I've always found that curious.

This was probably intentional on the directors part but she is speaking french. Here is from the wiki: Malfaiteur en Tombeau, Crochir l'Esplanade, Dans l'Fond d'l'eau!", the phrase Calypso yells out when she is freed from her bonds, roughly translates to "Across all the seas, find the path to he who wrongfully entombed me!"

@@TheAscendedDreamer Not so sure I agree entire with this translation. It makes sense and appears completely valid, especially given the context. Every time I think about the post credit scene all I can imagine is how AMAZINGLY funny it would have been to see a little Jack sparrow as Elizabeth’s son instead. Long hair. Real goofy and acts drunk.

This is actually my favorite one actually. I absolutely love it and I love the bittersweet ending for Will and Elizabeth. It's not a totally sad ending but it's not a totally happy ending. It's bittersweet. I like that. The 4th one is easily the worst of all 5 movies.

Critics give Dead Man's Chest a better score and it's tied amongst fans. Don't think that makes us part of the "few" who find this weaker than the first two chapters.

Is there any lore that forbids Elizabeth from spending time with William at sea? I'd like to believe that Will can make the captain's quarters or any part of the ship to his liking.

Probably the "Women are bad luck at sea" superstition. It's a brief, one of joke in the first movie and was fairly common among real world pirates.

given the crew are all dead, and it does ferry souls to the afterlife via submersion, kinda says no living person serve can be abord
@A5xxxxx
@A5xxxxx 5 месяцев назад
Well you have to be dead, dying or sell your soul to live on board the Flying Dutchman. Elizabeth was neither dead nor dying and William wasn't going to take her soul so. But pretty sure she couldn't go where the captain and crew go anyway; underwater to the land of the dead. It's a bit of a plot hole that Davy Jones stood on land in a bucket of water in the 3rd, and in both 2nd and 3rd movies characters were seen going aboard the Dutchman for short amounts of time, so why couldn't Elizabeth just visit him once a week or something? However, I'm pretty sure both of those only happened because Davy Jones failed his duties as captain, became a fish mutant and basically just a terrible being. What we see Davy Jones doing isn't how it should actually be, so there's that to consider in terms of plot holes. I thought as well it was part of the captains duty's to stay away from his lover (although not 100% sure on that one).

I see that I've worded that poorly. I don't mean 'live or serve' on the Dutchman. Just visits with their child and possibly future children. Norrington towed the Empress back to Beckett with the Dutchman. Elizabeth and the prisoners were in the brig before his change of heart and death. That story arc made me wonder if it was something possible or is there any lore that absolutely prohibits it.

The two shots Jack had aboard the trading company ship with Lord Becket, was most likely Grog. Rum, water and lime juice in equal parts. A heaalthy and much needed vitamin boost for the weary and scurvy sailor.

at world's end is my favorite, you just have to watch it a few times to fully understand it. i'd rank them 3, 1, 4, 2. i don't even count 5 because it's just so horrendous it doesn't even exist for me. they completely retconned and changed important story elements from the previous movies, such as how he obtained the compass. calypso clearly said "the compass you bartered from me, it cannot lead you to this?" but it the 5th movie he got the compass a completely different way. also i hated what they did to jack's character in 5, they took away his wits and turned him into a bumbling idiot good for nothing but comic relief, and i didn't even find it funny. so many amazing things they could have done with jack and barbosa both being captains of their own ships, but they had barbosa lose his so they could go back to having them fight over the black pearl, again...

The scene where Jack was branded a pirate was cut from the original version of this movie. Beckett hired him to transport some cargo and Jack found out they were slaves and released them therefore being branded as a pirate.

Great reaction of the third movie of this saga. Honestly this movie on my perspective was like a rush of emotions. Specially during the maelstrom battle between The Flying Dutchman and The Black Pearl. Which I think it's one of the most epic ship battle scenes in the history of cinema. Also from this movie forward the franchise was never going to be the same back again.

You have to accept each other for who you are , be comfortble , dont be shy , keep no secrets , even bad ones , have kids and grow old with each other , you are soul mates , take a vacation , even if its just to go to the beach on sundays , make it a habit to be as light as a feather, dont be drowned by the whirlpool , marriage is a complex thing , especially aboard a vessel at war fighting to be on top , while each carries a captain and crew , either one will win or both will be dragged to the abyss, a higher power will come to settle the matter eventually, yet when the battle is complete , you need to take a stand , fight for what you believe , your crew needs you 🏖⛵️🌊🌊💭

I never thought about it but now I'm thinking that maybe the davy jones movies would be better as a trilogy, like black pearl would be on it's own as a prologue and there would be one more movie between dead man chest and at world's end (or one after at world's end) then there could have been a little less in the dead man chest and things from the at world's end could have been much better developed
