Stepping into Magic in New Orleans Square, and through the bayou and into the boats we go, Matey! Plummet down into the caves beneath New Orleans Square and set sail on this adventurous journey through Pirate’s Grotto, catching a glimpse of the cursed treasure and skeletons of pirate souls that lost their lives in search of gold. After seeing the most magnificent treasure in Pirate history, come out of the treasure caves, past a vessel commanded by Captain Barbosa himself, and into port where the scalawags have gone wild and have set the town ablaze in their drunken state, all while “searching” for Captain Jack Sparrow, who manages to evade the pirates hunting his head throughout the attraction, as evidenced by his leisure demeanor propped against a throne, with gold gauntlet in hand, at the end of the attraction. The Pirates of the Caribbean opened in 1967 and has been a beloved and cherished classic ever since. It is rumored to be the most popular ride at Disneyland, continuing to draw hefty crowds decades after its park debut.
