Thor totally not shitting himself and concentrating on not tripping up as he headed onto stage. gopirastonks! The totally not a AI. The legend. The Pirate Software.
He is a seasoned guy , he experienced hell in one of the toughest IT industry and came back to tell us the story but in a motivational way . He is THE Prometheus we need !
Wow Thor I saw the video of the guy mentioning the streamer awards and stumbled on this today. I only found your channel recently, but you well deserve that award man. Thanks for inspiring all the next gen game devs to keep making what we love!
"The man with the voice changer". One hell of a voice changer he has, then. Does he hide a portable speaker in his throat, connecting to a portable device running voice changer software? In all seriousness, nice jab.
The first award ceremony I actually felt proud of watching. This man has helped countless people. In fact I can prove it: Like this comment if you start gamedev, programming, or any of your other ambitions because of Thor.
Well deserved win. No one may have known about Thor a year ago but within that year he’s given so much encouragement and wisdom to others that his popularity blew up. Excellent job Thor!!!
@@heraclitus. Maldavius Figtree is his furry nickname, nothing bad about that imo Ross Scott is the person who is the primary leader of the stop killing games movement who Thor ridiculed twice on a main channel video
@@heraclitus. Pirate Software has dishonestly argued in favor of killing games to promote the developer's right to remove access to products people paid for. In response people started digging into his past and found out he employed a minor he almost certainly knew was a minor to make s**ually animated and built second-life models, then fired her for not working hard enough when she was sick. He went by the name Maldavius Figtree, as a furry, and if you look up that name with Second Life you can read people talking about how he's a megalomaniac who exploited this underage girl for p--nography, that he sold, then cut her out of the profits. Additionally he tried to financially manipulate several companies to tank their stock so he was the only show in town for certain things and when he couldn't destroy a company he tried to leverage the market to tank them hard enough he could take them over. Hope this helps.
while dougdoug fits the category and *is* an entertaining streamer, thor (pirates software) definitely deserved it for: - inspiring tons of procrastinating people to make games, even doing so in yt shorts to free you from doomscrolling - showing the process how he makes his games, through and through - having a highly viewer-friendly stream model, taking ad breaks into account - *literally rallying to make sure this category exists on twitch* - communicating with the community as individuals, making sure people are satisfied
@@roaming740 There's no verifiable information regarding his so called "hacking experience". His dad worked at bliz and got him a QA job. He even forces his voice to sound deep, boost the bass on his voice when streaming an lies about having a 2nd puberty, lol, how can people trust someone that lies about his voice to sound appealing. It's insanity.
@@TealJosh Seems like you either agree with everything they've been doing/saying or are ignorant of it all. Either way, hard-disagree on the morality point. Provide the "excellent" titles and the changes/impact they made, which otherwise wouldn't have been the case in the games, and people can check out the validity.
@@Sunless1337 the impact sweet baby has had on the very public list of titles is not known. That's the whole reason why the outrage against sweet baby is so worthless. There is no evidence they've had any negative impact on anything. I'm in bed trying to sleep so I'm not going to bring up other titles than Alan Wake 2. If you are interested in more, @ me again and I'll get back to you tomorrow. Before doing that though, you could just google it. Sweet baby contracts out consulting. The idea is that if you are going to represent some group, a member of that group should probably be part of the process. In theory I have nothing against this. I'm sceptical of sweet baby mostly because they are weirdo money people who probably don't care about any of the values, just the money flow. They then hire people of those groups and act as middleware.
@@gametheus1306 the best part about this is, dudes so humble and dope that this is just what his brain did on autopilot. dude legit didnt remember even giving the speech. he was watching it with the community for the first time after he got back cause he was wondering why everyone was being so dope about it
Its so good to see Thor win this, it was surreal just getting the category after a full year of complaining about it everyday on stream, and this is like 10 times more surreal than that.
10000% yes! I've only just discovered him about 3 weeks ago, and I strive to be like him. He immediately jumped up the ranks to my top 3 people on the internet that I like or admire. I love his vibe and he is such a nice dude who is very open about caring about other people. You don't see that type of genuine open care much any more. I wish him the best in life. His knowledge and life advice has been invaluable. He deserves the best.
Everytime I see him I just see him rambiling about random stuff that's factually just incorrect I don't know because I haven't watched him in a while but he just seems annoying and like a troll
@@David-qs9yl I just remember seeing some of his videos are he was just objectively wrong and some people were really mad at him or something it was a while ago so I don't remember that well I honestly don't know what he's done for the community though
Don't get me wrong, I love DougDoug and the programming antics he does, but even he knew that it was over when Pirate Software was in the running because Pirate Software is an absolute programming beast.
I mean, he’s one of the msin reasons it is even a thing to start with. Twitch and everyone else would have been silly not to make sure he won the first one. The skills as a programmer have little to do with why he actually won.
@@mrbubbles6468 my guy who hurt you? Twice you've said the same thing on two different comments. He won because of his background, if quill was still doing his game making series he'd be a hair behind thor if not looked at the same. People wanna celebrate, let them brah.
@@mrbubbles6468The award is "best streamer" not "most skilled programmer" so yeah I would think that means its not wholly dependant on your programming skills as a streamer. Sort of like how Cenk's nephew could win "best political streamer" even though he has the worst political opinions in the entire history of mankind.
Thor is an amazing person but his specialty is in offensive security. More accurately in "digging", "breaking and entering", and "social engineering". So no he's not a "programming beast", in fact he would be the first to admit that the other 3 would beat him in programming lol
Honestly, the only one who could’ve beat Thor is Vedal, since it’s hard to argue that coding an entire streamer isn’t code streamer of the year material
@@mrbubbles6468 Suuuuure bro. It's almost like they have a streamer award for each category they add... Award shows add categories every year. Did you also complain when Jerma got the legacy award in 2023 when he was the only one nominated because the winner was chosen via a panel??
Thor looks like he could be actually Thor, son of Odin, but instead of manipulating thunder, he manipulates electricity (code, in a way, yes im reaching)
First time hearing about this and its dumb. Seems like a category made specifically to award him. He's the only one that does a full programming related streams.
vedal or doug should have won Pirate is just a troll and not a smart on at that they're likable and create things that give enjoyment he's a nuisance everytime I see a video of him
thor and max. are two of the most deserving streamers to win an award. both of them are chill af, provide sound advice, and are..genuinely some of the most entertaining people ive ever had the pleasure to watch.
man. seeing him with legs and walking. Thor is such a cool dude that came along those "shorts" and I am so thankful knowing him because of that. Thor is legitimately the BOB Ross in this generation and for the whole community.
Still crazy to me that dougdoug was even nominated for this. Like sure he does coding but most of the time hes asking chatgpt how to it now. Which is fine i love dougdoug but its kinda silly when compared the others
@@asiamies9153 you don't have to be a perfect pitch guy to notice his voice sounds higher and he's forcing it during his speech. He probably boost the bass in his voice on livestreams.
@@DiegoTorres-kv7js Ha-ha, I'm glad there are people who notice this as well. Not saying anything against the guy himself, but I'm just genuinely surprised that people don't see or don't understand how that works and just kinda worship to the voice, and it's really easy to do. And it's a common thing to use compressors on a voice like this, especially boosting the low-end. I'm not a streamer myself, but did similar things for talking and vocals just because I liked the sound of it. Sometimes on certain days it can be achieved without any technology, but yeah. =)
@@KrizardMusic A vast majority of all people doing podcast/radio related stuff boosts the lows and drops the mids on their mixers. It's how you get the famous "radio voice". Expecting him to sound similar on a neutral stage mic set up for 30+ people is dumb. This guy is talking normally. If you want to listen to someone who's made a career exaggarating a voice, check out one of Corpse Husbands videos.
I'm also trying to figure this out.. The speech from the livestream did not sound like this, this sounds more like the Thor from the hotdog peeling video while the stream itself of the same footage sounded more like your average, deeply voiced Thor. I don't wanna be one of those "THOR USES A VOICE CHANGER" guys but this is a bit strange.. Either way, I enjoy the dude and his content regardless. This is just a bit confusing.
@@mc94613 The reason I'm confused though is because this footage came from the exact same stream. I would imagine they'd have the tech and people to boost the bass live while he was on stage, but if they did that it would (or should) be reflected here assuming this is just a clip from QT's vod.
After watching again I think it was a combination of this and alcohol that had me convinced he was sounding way higher pitch than usual, but it's really not that intense of a difference. I think I'm just slowly losing it lmao @@mitchlymer
