I remember growing up watching his movies earnest goes to camp was one of the first even the Beverly Hill Billy's was awesome with him in it. He was so underrated
Im 30 grand ma only had 2 movies she liked to watch with us earnest goes to camp and earnest saves Christmas Jim varney was my hero growing up as well as Robin Williams miss them both
@@richbones8419 pythons don't have rattles.... poisonous rattle snakes do. He said poison but Pizon. That's how it's said in the south and how my papaw said it.
I had a chance to meet him once, I was in 2nd grade and in the hospital he visited, dieing. I was a lifelong lover of Jim and still am and regret not getting to meet him.
Here I am 12 years later as a native and resident of Clay County I can attest to this. We have a vocabulary I had to explain to my ex wife quite a bit hahaha
Long Live the memory of Jim Varney the great. He did some great movies that were really funny and completely innocent. No bad language, no violence. He proved good movies could still be made without it. On the bad side, some of his movies were really corny, like "earnest goes to camp" and even so "earnest goes to jail" was corny, it was funny as well.
i love the part (i think it might be later in the movie?) where ernest is looking down into the bed of the truck and comes back up with snakes on his face, hahaha.
First time we seen this movie not long after it first came out on pay per view. When it got to this scene we rolled with laugher, when it was over we rewound the tape we recorded it on and rewatched this, we laughed until we cried.
Love this scene. My favorite from all of Varney's stuff. He kind of reminds me of my grandfather in this clip, the way he talks. haha "Ye want one fer ye boy?"
I think its moments like this from Jim Varney that we should remember and not all the bad movies after, he was very good at making child friendly movies that were very simple and yet have stood the test of time.
@blastforyou That's too funny! Yeah, I can see Jim now, "Is this where that there pison snake be? You gotta be careful wit dem Egyptian pison snakes. They'll knot up on ya." Lol!
"Pizon" is how many southerners, especially mountainous people would say meaning "poisonous" Some people I know who live deep in the country away from any cities still say it like this. Pythons aren`t venomous and aren`t known to bite instead they constrict to kill plus they aren`t native to the USA until people bought them as pets and let them go free. The term "pizon" was being used in the 1800`s, well before Pythons were ever brought to America.
@geezerhack Love Maiden, Steve Earle, and Townes Van Zandt as well. You wouldn't happen to like the Steeldrivers would you? I knew their lead singer, Chris Stapleton. He's from Paintsville, KY.
