This video is wrong. There is no actual p setting for 850 pro series. What he was adjusting is called a recipe step. He set a 5 hour step for the unit to hold the temperature he put it at. Although it disappeared off the screen so I don’t think it actually set. I tried to follow this video and mine kept going back to the p1 when I was trying to set p3. So I had to dig into the manual and do some research to discover this video is completely wrong.
@@OrozcosKitchen after reading other comments I see that you already new that. But I get it. You have affiliate links that bring you money so you keep the video up knowing it’s bad information.
@@AlanStevens-dn1pz lol your funny, there is no reason for me to delete the video because it bothers you that a missed some stuff on here. With the affiliate links.. yes they are there but more to help folks, I haven’t made any sales. So maybe you don’t get it! I’ve read the manual too and yes this video is missing information but we can all learn from it can’t we ?
I just got the grill today, finished the initial burn and I’m trying to cook some meat, start with some smoke but it’s not smoking at 300 this confused me I’m to knew to the grill. Maybe when I learn some more I’ll understand what your talking about
I have been trying to figure this out with no success, On the newer PBs the have dedicated button for more smoke . Your explanation is good but I would like it written down , so I can tape it to the PB 😁 Thanks
This video is completely wrong. The 850 pro doesn’t have a p setting. The P1 through P5 is a recipe set. This guy is completely confused. There is no smoke setting. Just keep the temp 250° or lower and the slider shut for smoking.
Random question about this grill. Does this have a built in heat deflector for the gap on the left side of the smoker? Underneath where the curved tray sits?
I believe it does! It’s well insulated! I’ve added pellets while it’s at its highest setting and never felt the left side of the smoker hot to the touch
Awesome. Once you explain how to use the menu, then I’m sure everything will come full circle. Looking forward to it cause no one has a video on how to use and what things are on a menu. I don’t even know what a P setting is. So for us rookies on pellet grills, I’m sure it would help a lot of people out. Thanks
@@gabrielmolina3385 I will keep that in mind thank you. The P setting is more explained here in this video Update SMOKE setting video! The video you need to watch ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Wz3NxQc4dIk.htmlsi=92mIY4UuAmLq11ox

You gotta do some more research on your 850 pro. Your video is giving wrong information. I had to discover all of this myself because I just bought the 850 pro a week ago. 850 pro does not have a “p” setting. It has recipe steps p1 through 5 which basically just lets you set the temperature to change at different intervals during a cook. I had to get the 850 pro manual and the 850 competition manual side by side to figure it all out.
We must have different stuff going on because my time is hours and minutes. So how you set your smoke steps. For mine, it's every 5 hours. Super confusing idk I gotta be doing something wrong
Any of you have ever experienced more dirty smoke during cooks , all of sudden start smoking dirty then it clears the again. I know pellets what a lot to do with it. Any ideas if is something with the smoker?
@@OrozcosKitchen is the only thing I can think of , I used a new bag of bear mountain pellets , one bag of oak, the other of their blend and consta getting dirty smoke on both bags. So my next cook am going to play around with p settings since I never knew I can adjusted it.
While your in the P setting the auger feeds the pellets and “pauses” at the interval that you set. So you can have it pause every 1:00 min 2:00 min 5 min. If the temp is low and your p setting is incorrect then you the possibility of a flame out where the burn pot is no longer on.
This video is wrong. 850 pro doesn’t have p settings. It has recipe steps and is not the same thing. 850 competition has a p setting but it has a different controller and the p setting is set differently than what this video shows.
The p setting is not a smoke setting but it’s a recipe setting and it’s to adjust for outside climate temperatures., just set your smoker under 225 and you will automatically be in the smoke setting which is pre set at P4.
If you have the 850 pro series, there isn’t a “p” setting. The p1 is a recipe step. This guy thinks he set an auger pause. He didn’t. He set his smoker to smoke for 5 hours at the temp he chose. The 850 competition series has an actual p setting.
@@JOSHUAVARNADO-e9p what model do you have? 850 pro series II has recipe step settings p1 through p5. If you have p1 through p7 you might actually have the 850 competition series and have a true auger pause. But your controller should look different than the one in this video.
I dont think thats the "P" setting. What you have actually done here is adjusted the recipe timers. Nothing more. Imma read my manual to see if its even possible to adjust this setting on this model.
@@MrJustin351 let me know what you discover please. From my understanding the P-setting can be adjusted and it’s not just a timer for recipe . It’s more an adjustment for weather conditions, not a smoke setting
You're simply setting the recipe for probe 1, has nothing to do with the P setting. P in this instance stands for Probe. The 850 Pro does not have a P setting, it's a PID controller.
This video is wrong. You turn the knob till it says "S" for smoke. It's not a "5". Turn to S and press the knob. Done. It sets it to 180f. That's why the lowest setting to the right is 190f....because "smoke" mode is only 10 degrees under the minimum. Also you get plenty of smoke at 190 or 200 or up to around 230....if you want more smoke get a smoke tube and put in there.
100% incorrect. This smoker does not have a "P" setting. The Gen 3 controller has a "P" setting on the larger Pro Series grills, but not this Gen 2. The video creator is, unfortunately, 100% incorrect. Refer to the manual for what this setting actually does.
This is correct if you have a recipe that you want to cook at different temps this is how you set your cook time and temp for a recipe P1 could be set low like 200 for 1hr, then it will jump to p2 at 250 for 2 hrs if that worked for your cook. This is it a smoke setting. If you want the most smoke set it at S
