A playthrough of THQ's 1992 fighting game for the Super Nintendo, Pit-Fighter.

I love Pit Fighter for the arcade. It's not a great game, but man did it impress when it first came out. It still impresses me. However, Pit Fighter was a perfect example of a game that could only really be done on expensive, cutting edge arcade hardware - the kind that wasn't really able to be replicated on the relatively budget, out-dated tech that consoles are built on.
Of course, I'd still love to see some form of a port of its arcade-only pseudo-sequel Guardians of the Hood.
The Genesis version of Pit Fighter looked horrendous but played fairly well. This one loses a lot of the playability, but looks significantly better than the Genesis game. It never really bothered me much though - I really like the SNES version of this game. This game didn't impress anyone back in 1992 (at least, neither me nor the gaming magazines), but at its core, it was still a fun, mindless, albeit simplistic and repetitive fighter. I probably would've liked it less if I had owned it for $60, but as a rental, I thought it was great.
Just a warning - it can be very cheap. The matches with two opponents require a lot of luck to get through without running out all of your credits!
