12:34. That's a collab with the Film Theory channel if you didn't know. ru-vid.com/show-UC3sznuotAs2ohg_U__Jzj_Q Ryan appeared on their Joker theory video if you wanna check that out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OLjjz3QOGMs.html
FYI the "theory guy" in the pitch meeting was from the RU-vid channel the gametheory for those who dont know. Also i love how he says he is paying mirage to other movies and not omage lol.
@@sham00ly75 they kind of already did, in Batwoman, didn't they? Not adopted, but still her sister in a female Joker type of role? I think that's how it went, anyways. I watched two episodes of that abomination at most, then dropped it like a red-headed stepchild. And if they tried that story now with Joker and Batman, it'd be too much like copying Batwoman, and I can't see that going over well on either side of the political aisle.
Greatest part of the movie was when the midget friend was trying to escape and Arthur suddenly screams and scares the s*t out of him. That and Arthur having to open the door for him.
😂🤣😂🤣😂 I remember everyone in the theater laughing, then thinking he was going to kill him, then letting him out. So many emotions in a short amount of time.
The media platforms that said this movie would be “dangerous” to see: 1. That is asinine. I can watch the Saw franchise without acquiring a taste for kidnapping people and making them go through trauma just to survive even though most of them die. 2. They don’t know, like most people, what the Streisand effect is and it shows. The more you want to hide something, the more people will want to see it. It’s just the way it works.
Totally agree that Joker, as a character, is so much more interesting when we know almost nothing about him. The idea that he's someone that another could become, like, say Captain America, is interesting, but I think the Joker works best when he's almost like a slasher movie villain -- there is a force that the heroes don't understand and it's killing them -- they don't know why and it doesn't matter why, it's just a force of violence. Part of what made Dark Knight great was that Ledger's Joker personified that, basically appearing out of nowhere, organizing a criminal enterprise and bringing a city to its knees -- all of that is basically silly, and Nolan over-compensated in Dark Knight Rises, BUT the idea that someone could come out of nowhere and upend your existence, with no attributable rhyme or reason is truly horrifying. A villain like the Joker is effective because you don't know how to fight him. We can fight things like pandemics, robbers, rioters, etc. (disagreements on how to fight those things are acceptable, except for the pandemic -- get the damn vaccine ASAP), but we can't fight things we can't understand.
I really loved this move. Best one I’d seen that year. I don’t think it’s going to happen but I’d really love to see Phoenix as the Joker in a Batman movie. Ryan George really did his research on this one. Especially the King of Comedy reference. Thanks for the laughter Mike!
What makes Joker scary, to me at least, is the fact that he has NO rhyme or reason to what he does! AND, props to Mr. J for breaking the 4th wall WAY before Deadpool did it! :)
I didn't have a favorite part in Joker, in fact my first reaction was 'hated it', and yet, an hour later, after talking about what I hated about the movie I began to realize I liked it...I blame my son, the film major.
That nurse was actually from the Dark Knight HISHE. Basically Batman runs over the Joker with the batmobile and he goes to the hospital. The Joker asks the nurse "Do you wanna know how I got these scars?". Then the nurse says "Hmm, from Batman?" and the Joker says "From Batman!" kinda like this video...
The thing about Honest Trailers is theyre film nerds so they really loved the film and although they joked about it they wanted to basics showcase it....as art and/or an homage Joker is amazing IMO
Good movie but I can't believe it's the real Joker's origin story because he's too old when Bruce is a young boy. Joaquin did an amazing character portrayal but I never thought he was the real Joker and I was surprised to know that was the prevalent theory. The other theories are great fun to discuss though, especially how much is Arthur recounting of actual events and how much is delusional?
I think at the end of the movie when he's on the cop car he eventually gets arrested again. Then when he's talking to the lady and laughing, he's laughing about what he did and knows she won't find it funny so doesn't tell her. I think the kills did happen and he was just reminiscing because she was asking him questions about what he did, then she probably pushed to get him to tell her "what's so funny?", causing him to kill her and try to escape.
The movie was fantastic, the script is very tight and writing is character driven and solid, soundtrack is amazing and lead acting is surely worthy of the oscar it got (tho oscar is a joke lately)...I'm kinda sad that people seem to not like it or think it great cause it makes studios hesitant to invest in these movies. Top 3 comic book movies fight me : 1: spider-verse 2: Joker 3: Captain America Civil war ILL DIE ON THIS HILL
LOL!!!! I think, like you said, it's a very good character driven film and very well acted by Phoenix. But he makes the movie. Take him out and I don't think it's a good as it is.
I totally worried about Joaquin Phoenix doing that staircase scene because I would have fallen down those stairs 100 times over Edit: Also, I read that Phoenix only signed on when Todd Phillips called him and pitched it as a heist in which they would steal $60 million from WB and make whatever movie they wanted, all they had to do was smack the name "Joker" on it
So as I told you, when you come to visit Charleston South Carolina you and I are going to watch a couple of pitch meetings together!!!! And obviously rewatch each and every honest trailer and HISHE😝😝😝🤪🤪🤪
That HISHE was on point lol and not gonna lie in the back of my mind I'm wish the movie was little happier in the middle & ending but I'm do get why Todd Phillips made the film more sad and depressing because you wanna understand but emphasized Arthur where he coming from and also started having conversations bout mental illness and society and also the controversy ohhhhh the controversy surrounding the movie look in little retrospect I'm get why some people afraid to go see it in theaters because what happened back in 2012 (The Movie Theater Sh00t!ng) but also people have to realize that it a movie but I'm do understand cause lowkey I'm was little afraid to cause you don't what gonna happen but I'm glad no one got hUrt tho but overall I'm like the movie it's was good . 🃏🤡💜💚
@@OnMyMindEntertainment Yeah but still so get where some folks come from but also still I'm don't think bringing military people and stuff like that is not gonna help it's going to have more anxiety and panic attacks all on everyone especially me lowkey now I'm can understand bringing like police and security that a different story which I'm agree and yeah it's scary and hard to go out and keep look over your shoulders cause you ever know what going to happen just hope and pray be careful out there tho
Bro, I'm a GIGANTIC lifelong DC fan (Batman & Joker defined my childhood) but for some reason, I just can't watch this movie, I've never seen any part of it outside of things like this... I really don't know what it is 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
I think if you watch as a other world story it helps, LOL!!! The only parts I don't really care for are the Wayne connections. This could have easily been a non-comic book story and would still deserve attention.
@@OnMyMindEntertainment Yeah, that Elseworlds angle really helps... I got HBO Max so I probably SHOULD lol... ....and bro Ryan just did a Pitch Meeting for Revenge of the Fallen, SCATHING 😆... you can REALLY tell that dude HATED this movie 😆
I feel this movie has no rewatchability, you watch it once and never again. It was just so slow paced, it often used the same music which made it feel stale and you're only watching from the moment he goes to the talk show onwards. I didn't mind the movie, I admit it's not my kind of movie in the first place cause I'm used to going to the movies to have a fun time and this was just depressing. I don't think it was a bad movie but I wouldn't just watch it whenever.
Only reason I watched it again was to see my wife's reaction to it. Lol!! You're right about it being depressing. I felt like I needed to do something to lift my spirits after I saw it on the theater
@@OnMyMindEntertainment I have a question. Since you do reactions. When did doing reactions become huge? I thought it was silly but I now I watch your reactions lol
Honestly, I think it's always been a thing. I wasn't really interested until I started watching Tyrone Magnus. Once I decided to start mine, I knew I wanted to do things a little differently from other channels. There are so many reaction channels out there so it's important to try to stand out.
My thoughts on Joker: ... Meh. First of all, I'll never, ever consider it as a DC movie. Todd Phillips even admitted himself, that he wanted to make a character study movie, and he decided to make it about a comic book character, so that it had a better chance of being greenlit. It's not a Joker movie. It's a movie about some guy called Arthur. (I actually walked into the cinema with all this in mind). That aside though. I didn't really enjoy it until the end. I felt like it ended just as it was getting good. It certainly highlights some really important socio-political views about untreated mental health conditions and it's impacts. And I wish they would have just done THAT film, without overshadowing it with all the "This is a Batman movie" elements.
@@OnMyMindEntertainment One thing that's worth mentioning; This film highlighted (to me) how climatized audiences are to "watered down" violence in movies. When Joker premiered at the Venice Film Festival, people were talking about how disturbing & violent it was. In all honesty... It's nowhere near as violent as a Die Hard movie. However, in Die Hard, bad guys get shot, they basically collapse and become immediately incapacitated, and then the camera cuts away. We never see that moment of hopelessness that the bad guy feels when he's bleeding out to death, knowing his children will have to live out the rest of their lives without him. Audiences aren't used to that. And I think it's somewhat irresponsible to dilute how truly terrifying it is to get shot. And how horrible it is for you to shoot someone else. #HotTake
This movie was very similar to King of comedy without question. Totally agree that the movie was ok because of the acting job of phoenix, but beyond that it wasn't that great of movie.
@@OnMyMindEntertainment I also agree Dark of the Moon was probably the best of the movies. The reason why is because it was based on a generation 1 three-part episode called the ultimate Doom. Fun fact the animated three partner is a way better movie. It's a damned good story. I highly recommended. It holds up today
@@OnMyMindEntertainment okay well that makes sense. I wouldn't want to give Apple any money either. I was just rewatching a couple clips on RU-vid of that three parter,. And I kid you not the acting in the original G1 cartoon is better than the Michael Bay movies
Like I said before, I couldn't follow Joker. After 10 minutes, I turned it off Inception and most of the DCEU is terrible to me, even if they get acclaim from others including the Dark Knight trilogy
This definitely solidified for me that I do not like HISHE. I was actually uncomfortable. And I agree that HT was drab. But PM definitely made it worth it. I loved the theory bit. As for the movie, I couldn't watch it. I like the character of the Joker in the comics, and many presentations before Leto's, but I just do not like how they've molded his character recently. Even if they're different versions, or whatever, I just prefer the comics. Or Mark Hamill's.
Honest Trailers caught on to the propaganda saturation. Amazing how it's just banker dudes harassing the woman on a train, clearly the writers have never ridden on one or had to stand at bus stop with pushy guys harassing unchecked, even following women onto the bus to continue. I guess oddly cherry picked social messages are tight to those sending them. Women in some big cites are serious problems in some public in areas. I think the movie helped reset the Joker. Anyone would have had a problem following Ledger's joker because many fans were so attached to him and the actor. The Joker has changed over and over, there really is no basic Joker. It's strange for a major character because it's not just a costume change, yet normally it works. In a way having a new Joker was something to look forward to, he can change in ways the super hero cannot. Idiot's version was due to his total ineptitude and fan boy fascination with currant gangster styles along with a complete inability to overlay them on his Joker. The actor really couldn't do much with the pile of steaming **** handed to him. It pressed all the wrong buttons, but it did let the rabid fans of one Joker rendition to focus their ire and get it out. There was bound to be dislike. This Joker is character driven, something rarely seen with comic characters now, so it has weight , much like Ledger's Joker even though it was an Batman action movie. This one is character detergent, washing away the battles, failures and losses that has become associated with Joker. having it not be the real Joker would be perfect. Storms over, dust settled and they can get back to using the character as they please. The audience is ready to fondly remember the past but not live there. Bringing in Leto's Joker, in different hands may have some disgruntled fans backtracking on the hate or at least aiming it where it belongs. It also opens the possibility of using unseen footage from Suicide Squad, adding more and redeeming the version. Thus, Leto's ruffled feathers would be soothed, both fan camps satisfied and a possible Leto Joker for a few more movies. I don't think the guy's ego was resting too well after starring in the Idiot's Guide to ****ing Up A Movie. He took most of heat and was barely in it, payback time with a slamming performance, if he can pull it off. We'll see.
You're absolutely right about how there really is no basic Joker. We've seen different iterations of the Joker. I'm just really hoping they aren't actually trying to make a sequel to this. This works perfectly as a standalone story and doesn't need to be tied into a bigger DC world.
@@OnMyMindEntertainment I agree. A stand alone drama is just fine. I don't think the fans would mind either, most seem ready for Joker to be back on track.
Joker did not resonate with me in the slightest. It is a less subtle, less nuanced, and not as well ditected Scorsese classic. Perhaps is it intended as a satire, buy even then, it is not as caustic and darkly funny as it should have been. If it was intended as a serious film, it is comically uber-dramatic, with a Joaquin Phoenix overplaying to death his scenes...I was disappointed, though the film has at least the merit of raising some important socio-economic, and cultural issues. Must be in the minority on this one, buy, hey, opinions and such...😁
The dark and grim setting, vibe, the overall tone. If I would pick a scene that would be the entirety of the film. 👍🏾👍🏾 LOVED the film. I think it was quite relatable. Well, in a sense that we have our dark side. We think it but not put it into action. Very few that do and so they go to prison unfortunately for them. Some call it the passion of crime or mental illness. But yeah... Anyway, Pitch Meet wins this one for me. All were funny but Pitch Meet had me. His cameo, Film Theory, or at least something like that, was trying a lil too hard to be funny I thought. He has an awesome channel by the way. Gatta check him out if you like predictions or theories about a film to what could be or not. Hehe.
