Synopsis:
Arriving at her new college, Beca (Anna Kendrick) finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together. When Beca leads this a cappella singing group out of their traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of college music competitions.

Can we talk about how hard this game is? You have to know the song the other group is singing so you can match one word to another song while still singing in the relative key. And then praying the rest of your team knows the song you pick so they can help you

Now that I'm older, I just can't believe this is actually supposed to be set in college. It's so wholesome and cool. Like it's obvious why this is such a hit - who wouldn't want this to be real? And singing aside, a real-life Jessie would be great. Someone who just randomly awes and supports everything you do, innocently flirting. I used to be in a glee club, and when we weren’t working on music, we would have riff offs. We would use a random generator to pick the categories and split into two teams. It was SO MUCH FUN and that group of people was so musically talented that they could hear a song and just roll with it, a cappella. Those were the days.

I wanna get pedantic here. They 'lost' because she matched "it" with "it's" and they claimed it was two different words. Technically "it's" is not its own word. It is a contraction of "it" and "is". It's a way of making two syllables into one - completely informal; so ~TeChNiCaLlY~ she did match it with it.

I love the one in 2, though. IMHO it's just as good as this one (even better, because it lasted a little longer - I really wanted to hear a few more of these categories in this riff-off!). It's good in a different way, different style. Only thing I don't like about 2's is the wimpy way the riff-off ends. I wish it had finished with more oomph.
