Here's something that can make holding the tears even more difficult. The species of seal in question is the most endengered seal species on earth. Estimately there are about 109 females capable to get cubs left and they also are riddled with inner breeding which weakens the population every year

@@Kilzu1 Old comment, but that wasn't a Saimaan Norppa. It is a close relative off that one, but as the description says this was in the Gulf of Bothnia, which has a way healthier seal population than Saimaa

There is only one seal species living in Finland and that is Saimaa norppa. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saimaa_ringed_seal The whole furry thing gives it away, only Saimaa ringed seal cubs are that furry, that's because saimaa ringed seal is the most inbred seal species in the world (they haven't evolved the same way as other seal species, in fact whole inbred thing is actually reason why they are going extinct)

Hi Cheryl! Me and my wife visited him later. He was okay with his sister or brother. They ignored our milk and food. Also their mother was somewhere near. I'm quite sure it was a happy ending. Juha :-)

Hi Hamish! It really did! When I first heard him cryin', I didn't know what was going on until I saw a little spot moving on ithe ice far away. I'm glad I found him and turned him back to his mother. I'll never forget those moments with that little one :-) Juha

He didn't eat the food i offered him. I guess he was calling her mama, who was trying to wean him because he was old enough to live by himself.

Hi Linda! This baby seal was heading to the mainland. They often die there when they get lost and suffer from lack of food. I have seen some poor ones :-( Also loose dogs may be a danger. I managed to turn this one back towards the sea and his mother. In the evening me and my wife went back to see him and had some milk and food with us. He was doing very well and there was also another bay seal. Their mother was calling for them. The next day they were all gone to the open water. I'm a big animal lover, never had been interested in hunting or killed an animal bigger than a fly. My gear is videocamera and binoculars. I published this video over two years ago to show this pup to my friends. I can't see any reason why I shouldn't have done that. Storyful and some other companies got interested and now it seems to be spreading all over the world. I'm sorry if people think that I somehow harmed this cute baby seal. Juha Salo Oh, I am relieved that the baby and its sibling and mother were OK. I think you asked at the end of the video: "Did I make a mistake by becoming friends with you?" (that's how I understood it, my mother tongue is Estonian but I have learned some Finnish) and after watching the clip I was worried that it might have wanted to go with you and didn't find its mother. It's so good that the story had a happy ending. Hopefully they have a happy long life.

Well, the title is from Storyful :-) I gave him all the help I could guiding him back towards the open water instead of inland where he was heading for. Later when I went back to see him again everything was ok.
