I know, right? Perfect speed, no trying to be the next Robin Williams, clear and concise instructions, and everything related to practical understanding of basic principles that are easy to understand. Where the hell was this guy when I was in school?!
I've had these instruments explained to me by my instructor, by at least three different books, and by Sporty's Online Ground School and this video is the best explanation I've ever seen. Thanks guys!
Why is at video 4:41, when you turn the knob clockwise, the needle goes counter-clockwise, isn’t ALT supposed to indicated clockwise when you turn clockwise on the knob ? But in video it show opposite?…
@@reponrepnation3004 No. Imagine the local Mean Sea Level pressure is 30.02"; 1" difference = 1000'. The standard atmosphere which is used in the US above 18,000' is 29.92", and is referred to as FL 180 (to indicate use of the standard datum) In this case the datum zero is 100' above sea level. If you freeze time and instantly turn the knob clockwise to reach 29.92" the pressure indicated in the window will decrease 0.1" and the needle will go anticlockwise by 100'. So if the local pressure is greater than standard, the true altitude is greater than that indicated, and vice versa.
ERAU = Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. They started as a flight school with their roots in the 1920's (still active), but they are a STEM-oriented University with many other degree opportunities other than traditional pilot. Many graduates go on to work in Aviation related industries. Fun fact, JFK learned to fly at Embry-Riddle.
You are talking about bad school. We have additional classes for children (13+) in Russia, children learn all this. Not so beautiful and technologically advanced, on a marker-board, but we give them this information.

I don't think I've ever left a RU-vid comment but this has to be one of the best videos I've seen that describes everything perfectly. Thank you so much!
Very good. It helped me as I was planning to make a paper airplane with paper cabin, cockpit, controls, and working paper engines. It helped me to know/learn more about aviation too.

What a superb video! This one is really brilliant in terms of explanations to the point, animations and focusing on what's important! You really nailed it, thank you so much for it! ☺️

This video was a great help for me passing my instrument checkride today, watching it a couple of times, I really understood how things are working; thanks for this great production!! Peter
This takes me back. Years ago I had to animate an altimeter for the RNZAF, for student pilot training. Being given schematic drawings and being asked to produce a working animation is always a great learning experience, and prompts a lot of research. What's not mentioned is the amazing and minute planetary gearbox that allows the needle to rotate so much relative to the tiny amount of movement generated by the expanding and contracting wafers.

I'm watching this wonderful video, just one day before writing my Aircraft Instruments test! I have to thank you for your wonderful explanation of concept! Good job! ❤️❤️

@@reponrepnation3004 If it's not standard then it isn't. My alarm clock turns the other way around too when I set the time. That's not safety relevant, sure. But I guess you'd notice what's going on.
Very informative. It was very good to know airspeed also works WITHOUT fluid unlike I learned in engineering school. Always questioned how leaking issue would be handled in aerobatic flights.
This is an amazing video. If you ever wanna be a pilot, this will help you better. The school does not teach as this video. I love all the videos that present by ERAU.
