A full day of riding my gravel bicycle around Pittsburgh. I started off by just cruising around the downtown, through some of the alleys and over the bridges stopping for beer and photos along the way. Later met up with some friends and checked out the industrial gravel and some great cuts and breweries. Lots of bike fun for one day.
(not that anyone reads descriptions - but the rail bridge was obviously not active - we aren't idiots)

Highly unlikely we were “allowed” there - It is not active anymore though. It’s only illegal if you get caught is my philosophy- definitely not for everyone. 😎

Grew up in PA, never went to Pittsburgh, I always look at possibly moving there. So many interesting homes and it seems like it has nice biking infrastructure. Secretly a super cheap place, at least compared to other places with good cycling.

Heading to the Burgh (home) in a few weeks from FL to do the GAP/C&O to DC. I love always hearing people say good things about Pittsburgh. I believe “it’s a great place to be from”, but I think I’ll stay in FL. Looked like a fun ride 👍🏼

It was a great day out - I’ve never had a bad time there. Have a blast on the GAP/C&O! We loved it. On piece of advice we were given that was worthwhile - if you haven’t already - stop to make the short walk to Great Falls right outside of DC - it is stunning.

Great footage, Tim! If I'm viewing correctly, that bridge y'all crossed was recently purchased by the regional trail alliance. Will be a bonified bike trail bridge in the near future.

Great video, Tim. Heading out to ride the Burgh in about 45 minutes, although I don't think I'll be riding that trestle anytime soon. That said, I'm glad you did and got some great video of it. In terms of a question, I was wondering whether you folks continued to ride that gravel on the other side of the trestle (it seemed like the surface was not great on the other side). That said, on a subreddit dedicated to Pittsburgh biking, it was recently pointed out that Strava heat maps suggest that folks are riding that line with some frequency.

Thanks! Good news is that abandoned line is supposed to become a legit bike path soon. We rode the tracks to Rowan street - definitely more chunky, but not awful on gravel bikes.

It’s an O-light RN 1500 (so 1500 lumins) I really dig it. They just put out a new 2000 lumin light too. (I actually have a deal on them in the description)
