I just got one of these. Mine has a slightly different handle, with the text now saying "Pittsburgh" not "Pittsburgh Pro". It doesn't pull out without pulling back the collar, and there isn't much of any wobble, but it does still have the exposed snap-ring. Love using it to reach deeply recessed screws inside a furnace.
I just bought one and it was solid. Play was minimal. The retaining ring was tight , I couldn't pick it out with fingernail. I'm am satisfied with this new tool. I'd recommend buying one.
I just bought one today and they fixed the yanking problem. I yanked on it and it wouldn’t come loose I’m excited to try it out one day. Probably gonna be really useful for spark plugs. I wish they made it in 3/8ths
Your fur buddy seems pretty cool!! These are ok, good to throw in a vehicle or ATV toolbox or around the house. Could you give that spring clip a little squeeze or replace it? It will definitely fall apart for sure. I think if you address that spring it would be a decent little tool
So i just got mine yesterday and its pretty strong. I tried to pull on the rod and it didn't budge. I didn't pull with full force but i did give it a descent pull (a bit more than your pull) and it didn't break loose from the locking collar. So maybe they fixed it ???
@@snap-off5383 I always use extensions where they will fit. It allows for better feel to apply torque so my ratchet heads are rarely near the socket at all! Aircraft fasteners are easy to screw up and usually hard to reach, using extensions there has helped me figure out that an extension is preferable on everything they will fit on.
@@upsidedowndog1256 Now you've walked me through how a swivel head is probably superior to a spinner handle in most ALL situations. {:-( going to have to buy some now. . . .
Nice review. I think the spring inside is just to keep it from clanking when it bottoms out. And being able to pull the shaft out by hand seems to be a design, or quality flaw. I've thought about getting one just because you can attach a ratchet handle to the back end. However, it's very heavy, loosey goosey, and clanky (things I DON'T want in hand tools). I'm still trying to think of an excuse why I can't live without one. :) P.S. Glue the flimsy retaining ring on with something semi-permanent. How often do you need to take it apart, never?
no one ever has pulled on a nut driver when removing a nut or bolt but plenty have pushed on them, as for the ring, get another one no toolbox or garage on earth should be without them, and its HARBOR FREIGHT. i own all 5 of the telescopic ratchets they have. 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 as well as the combos that have 1/4 on 1 side and 3/8 on the other and the one that has 3/8 and 1/2, this is my next tool to buy, never have i had a single issue and if you do they are LIFETIME WARRANTY so who cares if they break, i go past my local store at least 2 times a week so an exchange is easy
I was all interested until I realized I've never added an extension to my spinner handle. I use the Carlyle one so it has a full handle as well and fells completely comfortable.
Do not... Put the 1/4 impact on it xD the locking mechanism jams and the telescoping drive slides all over, lol I used it a lot, and it is very handy in under dash situations, but if you hot a harness with the lock, the shaft unlocks and slides back down.
well, i am not sure WHO in their right mechanical mind would put an impact gun or impact wrench on the back side of this driver to help drive whatever it is they are trying to drive. A standard ratchet yet but thats it.
