To be fair, it "feeling like a bunch of kids playing with toys" is one of the best ways to handle a LEGO animation. Its kinda the whole point of LEGO.

I wanna know when these were _actually_ released. LEGO Cars has been a retired theme for years Edit- a short is about Coco, which only had a minifigure in 2023 (thanks to the Disney CMF). That means the short is probably from this year, so the IP choices make no sense. Cars has been retired for years, Finding Nemo has *never* had a set, the last The Incredibles set also retired years ago, Coco has had 1 minifigure (also retired), I’m unsure about Brave. I think these were just made for fun, not necessarily to advertise anything.

Syndrome survives because LEGO jet turbines are made of soft rubber.

You judge the lego animation when it's had that animation style since around 2013. The stop motion style is only used for the movies that go to theaters.

Unpopular opinion, but Lego incredibles (the game) tell a better story of incredibles 2, then incredibles 2 themselves

The reason the characters are in the Lego styles they are is because usually in animation or games, they usually just use the latest released version of a character and since Merida doesn’t have a minifigure or any other brave characters they used Minidolls, same with the incredibles since no minifigures have been changed since 2018

I just finished watching this and I thought it was fine, I have seen tons of LEGO animation before, and these resemble some of the simpler official ones my only disapointment is the lack of a LEGO joke regarding Syndrome Dash/Violet: Syndrome?! how are you alive? we saw you get sucked into a jet turbine! Syndrome: uhm... you 2 do realize all of us can just dettach and reattach right? (showing with him pulling his hand off and popping it back on) showing that it is not ment to be taken serious, it's the LEGOverse take on these movies

The strangest thing about these, at least to me, is that none of these shorts represent products that you can buy from LEGO. There where cars and incredibles sets but they all retired more than five years ago, there has never been even one finding Nemo LEGO set, there’s been like five brave sets and none are on shelves, and the only LEGO coco we ever got was one minifig that you can no longer buy.

They are just kinda silly fun shorts, meant to be like a kid playing with Lego, only sin I can give it is showing us the Mr.incredible torso and not giving us a physical version and using the rubber Lego Star Wars animation style rather than the superior ridged body stop motion cg style.

For the record Lego already made cars sets back when cars 2 came out

"Product Placement" Nearly all of the sets and minifigures featured in these have been looong discontinued. The only thing not retired is Merida.

About Syndrome, there is a good reason: in the Lego video game based on The Incredibles that was released in 2018, Syndrome is still alive at the end, he is just beating out by Jack Jack when he comes to kidnap him and just leave accepting defeat even telling Bob and Helen that they should reconsider their babysitter.

As a Lego and Pixar enthusiast, naturally I binged these when they came out. But I went in with my expectations low. I knew that Lego and Warner Animation aren't in partnership anymore, in conjunction with them being shorts for young young kids, I knew the animation and writing would be pretty basic. (turns out Atomic Cartoons who animated have also done for Lego Star Wars stuff for Disney+) So, knowing this I didn't grumble. As it's all Lego, I don't consider anything to 'break the canon'. Especially something like The Incredibles, because it has a Lego videogame already which also messes with the canon like all Lego games eg. Syndrome doesn't die in that either. As for calling them product placement, it's an interesting point. I could go on a long breakdown on what films have had what type of Lego sets (minifigs, minidolls, brickheadz etc) but to keep it short, there are roughly 11 currently available Lego sets with Pixar characters featured in some capacity. Two of which are Inside Out 2, so I'm surprised that wasn't one of the shorts considering how recent and popular it is. I guess any Lego related thing inherently is an advertisement. But overall I wouldn't say it's that egregious, as it's not really advertising specific Lego sets. It's funny really, I found the Finding Nemo bit finding an instruction manual, was one of the better moments because it was incorporating something from Lego to the story itself. A little like how in The Lego Movie, Emmet's life is about 'following the instructions', obviously not as clever or funny, but if you're going to put it in a Lego style, put those Lego touches into the world building. Anyway this comment is getting way too long, I guess I should leave with this relevant quote from Anton Ego: "In the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so."

But this isn't product placement or advertisement. Lego isn't selling any pixar sets as of right now besides some BrickHeadz and The House From UP set.

So unless Lego is doing a retelling or their own IP generally they don't care much about the narrative it is literally the 'what would a child do playing with these lego sets'. the Simpsons lego episode kinda rules, no time line since lego is timeless, of course dead characters can come back because lego cant die all that.

Dude, have you seen anything about Lego other than the movie? Do you really think *LEGO SHORTS* are going to explain Sindrome's return? This has no continuity, they're just shorts to entertain and sell Lego sets... like all the other Lego shorts. I'm not saying this is a misunderstood masterpiece, but I think you also have to understand that the show isn't trying to be one, it was never sold to you as a spectacular Oscar-winning series, this is just a short film show with the intention that the child watches, is entertained, says "wow I want to do that", buys the Legos and well, I think it fulfills its purpose.

The thing I took away from these cartoons was that they shouldn't be taken seriously. They're small cartoons that's made for kids and aren't directly connected to the movies they come from.

I've seen the Finding Nemo one and the Coco one. The Finding Nemo one was cringe, goes against logic, and Marlin gets character asassination. The Coco one was better as the voice acting actually sound similar and the concept was sweet although I did not like the cyber cowboy singers.

I am convinced these are cutscenes from the canceled Disney 100 lego game repurpised and extended. This is cuz of 2 reasons, 1: the Incredibles short is implied to take place in the Lego game timeline since Syndrome is there and he was not killed off in the Lego game and 2: the fact that the people who animated this was not Pixar and instead the same studio who did the pre-rendered cutscenes and cinematic trailers for the Lego games

I'd actually like to point out that lego cars isn't an entirely new thing, there were a few lego sets based on both the first and second films when Cars 2 was released. As far as I'm aware this series was discontinued in 2012 and barely lasted a full year, although more kid oriented "duplo" like sets for the franchise still exist. A majority of the pieces for these sets such as the car's hood and roof elements were pretty much exclusive to the cars franchise and haven't been seen since, but I do believe the rims used for Lighting and a couple other characters were later repurposed for the lego "Speed Champions" Mini Cooper S Rally in a twin pack set around 2019. I guess what I'm saying is in the case this is a marketing stunt, it feels odd for them to animate the cars franchise based upon sets that have been retired for almost a decade now rather that the still existing duplo/junior sets.

i only watched the cars short, the story isn't really good, but the animation is really nice, and they designed new Piston Cup racers as lego, and i'm all here for it! (they aren't planning on making sets based off these shorts, supposedly. the lego Cars theme has been retired since 2013, unless you count lego juniors and duplo.)

The Lego shorts have always had this animation direction since they started. It’s nothing mindblowing, but it is what it is. Watching them and expecting to see the stylistic craftsmanship from the (now discontinued) Lego movies is like watching the Disney afternoon shows and expecting them to match the same quality as their feature animated films. Also, that phone reference in the “Brave” segment is from the original film.

What's wrong with it? It's cool to see Lego versions of the Pixar characters. I just wish Lego Toy Story, Wall-E, Ratatouille, and Monsters Inc was in it. The Lego Incredibles one showed me that Violet and Dash would be perfect as the main protagonists for Incredibles 3

I struggled to watch these shorts with the childish plots that completely break continuity at times and thought the same things… It seems like it’s just “brick stories” with the ip that don’t follow the movies, but it would be nice for them to clarify.
