Used my 6 pro since release and I have had no issues at all.. whether that be fingerprint, screen refresh rate or sound. I love the pro. Battery life is the one issue that could be better for me... But I still only charge daily.. It just gets too 5% some days.. And I get anxious. All in all for me it had been a great experience and I can't wait for the 7pro
I would definitely buy one if I know the bugs are cleared and there might be some smaller ones left. The design grew on me a lot and I’m sure the pixel 7 series will be a top seller too.
I have scratches all along the sides/frame, on my 6 Pro. I've had it since launch day, and have never dropped my phone and kept a Google official case on it. My only assumption is that dust and dirt particles got in from the sides of the case, and caused some slight but visible scratches. It really does suck, because the purpose of a case is to protect it from such damage. But overall, the experience has been pleasant and I'm glad I got the Pixel 6 Pro. I do agree that the Pixel 6 has better color options, looks better than the Pro, and feels slightly better to hold.
The same here, scratches on the sides of the frame and using Google official case too . Very weird. Apart of that its a great phone and would highly recommend it.
@@lucaspanasski331 does your google case fit a bit loose? Maybe that's the reason. I'm in the same boat. Official google case and my phone can slightly slide in the case itself. I assumed that's why i have some dust scratches on the side rails
@@TeacherSprout yep it is a bit loose on the right side where power and volume buttons are. There is always loads of dust when i am removing this case. Disappointment
Yeah your supposed to open them and clean it every week or two even then mines still has the scratches and indents of dust in the sides 😂 that's crazy how dust gets in threw the back I always assume if you have the kickstand on your case it opens the back two slits we're it slides at .
Thanks mate, keep up the good work. I’ve been using Pixel 6 (non Pro) for couple of months and even though I love Pixel experience, I just couldn’t get used to it’s size. I might try Pixel 6a when it’s released, but for now I’m surprisingly happy with Samsung S22 (the smallest one). Side note for those who might be interested - I’m also a Garmin Fenix 6 Pro user and a battery life while using this smartwatch with Android is just spectacular! On IOS I was getting up to 5-6 days of regular use (no GPS), on Android phones (applies equally to Pixel 6 and S22) I’m left with 58% after a week!
I'm currently trying out my first ever iPhone, but if the Pixel 7 Pro builds on the 6 series I'll be very tempted to switch back! Sounds like this is a pretty solid effort, if not without flaws, for their first in hours SoC. I've actually quite liked my iPhone, but the garden walls with Apple do still occasionally get in the way of ancillary product choices.
Had my pixel 6 non pro since release and I've not experienced any real bugs, fingerprint sensor is definitely better now, no regrets, great phone. £600 well spent 🙂
Thanks, Damien! Great video as always! I've had my Pixel 6 pro since November of last year. I've had fewer bugs than most as well, but have really started to enjoy the experience more and more especially after the last few monthly updates have squashed a lot of the bugs that I was seeing. Overall, I really enjoy my phone and hope that Google would continue making strides like this to make an enthusiast phone in the future.
No issues since i got mine back in November, and I strongly believe that it is a small % of owners that are or have had issues during there time with the device. 🎺
I feel a big loss taking this phone.. 2 hours to full charge google's flagship, what a shame.. Continuously disconnecting all connectivity including internet bluetooth while standing outside in a 40°C temperature. Poor battery backup. Anyway I regret I spent 4000 Qatari riyals for this real shit
It's the best android camera. The June update finally made the picture processing next level. The raws with just Lightroom defaults and auto optimization looks amazing
Hi Damien, I thought this review had some excellent observations. I'm looking at buying it on the used market, and at those prices, it's hard to beat. The camera alone really tips the equation in its favor at these prices. I've looked closely at the iPhone 13, which has excellent fit and finish and better resale value. But I typically use my phone until it breaks, so I'm not interested in resale value. Rather, I'm interested in the utility now. I will miss the face unlock of my Pixel 4xl though. To use a less than capable fingerprint sensor might be really annoying.
The speakers are way better on the P6P! I've used the S22 Ultra for a week and the speakers are real muffled when turning the volume up. But great review!
I literally just got to this part of the review and read your comment. While the imaging and balance still need work on the Pixel, the S22U speakers are missing so much more low end it's ridiculous. I also don't like the vibration in the S22U. Such a shame.
🎺 Thank you so much for the video, Damien! I'm picking up a 6 pro tomorrow. I hope I get a good one with no major issues. This will be my first pixel and I was drawn to it for the bigger size and the cameras. I'll update you after a week 😊
🎺Thanks. I've had the Pro since launch and not had a single bug of any note at all. Finger print sensor was always fine for me. I have maybe had 1 or 2 crashes which I couldn't say weren't down to Android 12 or beta software which I run rather than the phone itself. I have really liked it. With the Bose headphone pre order bundle it was great value imo. If I get a 7 series I am maybe more interested in the 7 this time. I think I would like a smaller phone and with a flat screen. Tempted by the Asus Zenfone 9 for the same reasons.
Even compared to something like the s21 Ultra ? I found after I tried the Pixel 6 + 6 Pro I actually preferred the pixel 5 the most. But maybe that was because of how janky everything was in the beginning.
Thanks 🎺 The phone hasn't been perfect. It's hand hits ups and downs when it first came out but it seems like it's gotten better over time and they fixed the minor things and some of the bigger issues. But I got the pixel 6 pro black one. Same as you
Loving my pixel 6 pro! No issues for me at all. Great battery life and those cameras are truly excellent. I especially love the 4x telephoto lens which allows me to take brilliant shots of my kitten and everything in-between. The chip set and screen are both super fast. The screen is also sharp and the picture quality and colour reproduction is truly immersive. It's also really great for gaming and the security updates and firmware updates from Google truly future proof this phone. I don't regret my purchase at all.
I wonder if they'll use the alternative option for screen adhesion to make it sound less hollow. My wife's Pixel 6 is so noisy to tap vs my Oneplus 7T Pro and when Iook to update I'd hate that, even though I want to go back to Pixel.
I do find my OnePlus 10 pro screen feels more luxurious and better than my pixel 6 pro. It's like the pixel has gone for the cheaper option and it shows ever so slightly.
After using both the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro extensively, I would actually argue that size shouldn't be a factor at all if you're considering either phone. With the 6 still being a boxy, large phone and the Pro being a marginally slightly larger, curvier phone, it's basically a wash. I think it comes down to: which is better for you in terms of look/feel? Do you need a telephoto camera? Do you need 512GB of storage or 1440p? How important is the display quality to you? For me, the Pixel 6 Pro was absolutely worth it. But I do think most people should consider the standard Pixel 6, as it's arguably the very best phone for the money in 2022. In regards to the "hollow screen" issue, I've heard this complaint over and over again and I don't have the slightest idea what anyone is talking about. Maybe there's some faulty units being shipped? All I can say is, the build quality on my device is phenomenal and I haven't noticed anything strange aside from a couple occasional bugs here and there (which, from my experience, has been a normal occurrence for every phone). I also want to point out that the speakers are excellent. Again, maybe there are quality control issues here with a lot of variance in the devices that get shipped. But mine sound superb, better than the last couple Samsung phones I've used and right up there with the iPhone 13.
The hollow screen feel is definitely universal and intended by Google: "this is something Google did on purpose. The display feels hollow because the screen isn’t bonded to the mid-frame. Why? Well, apparently Google did it to improve the repairability of the display. This makes the display really easy to replace. What’s the downside? Well, it feels hollow, and it also affects heat dissipation. No heat is being released via the display here, therefore the back will get a bit warmer than you’re used to. On the flip side, the display will never get as warm as you may think. " My Oneplus 7T Pro is so quiet to tap vs my wife's Pixel 6 or the other 6 and 6 Pro units my mates have. If you're not affected by it it's just because you don't personally notice it and that's fine, but denying it is a thing is incorrect and you should compare it to phones with the display bonded to the midframe so you can educate yourself on the difference, just to satisfy the curiosity.
Your experience mirrors mine exactly Matt. My 6 PRO's fit and finish is perfect and feels super premium in hand. My daughter has the 13 pro max and to me my Pixel feels just as premium, but I realize it's all subjective. I have had zero issues that I hear parroted from reviewers on RU-vid and couldn't be happier with my purchase.
I've had my 6 Pro since November and overall it's been great. I have the occasional issue with the UI where I'm not able to force close apps until I lock the device and then unlock it. I've also had issues with lock screen/drop down notifications needing the same to be done. The only other issue I've had is with the RU-vid app displaying a white line in the middle of the app, and freezing up to a black screen if I exit the app when having paused a video. I then have to force close the app and then reopen it. Other than these minor issues it's been a great phone, and hopefully further updates will only improve the stability.
I’m currently using an iPhone 11 Pro Max and there’s nothing but upgrades from what I’m seeing on my end. Even the charging. I’m using like a 15w charger at the moment. The pixel 6 pro supports 25w to 30w charging, if I’m not mistaken
Im coming from the S22 Ultra to the Pixel 6 Pro. The S22 is a great phone, the latest update has caused me and many others nothing but issues, battery drain, android auto will freeze up and cause the phone to restart im just over it. I figured I wanted to try the Pixel and get the pure Android vanilla experience and Call Screener will be great since I get slammed with Spam calls all day.
When people talk about screen size with phones and they say oh it's not that much different, it's only slightly bigger. There actually is a difference. When you use a larger phone for a long period of time and then you go to the smaller version. There is a difference you will notice it
Been using P6 Pro for 6 months now. I have not faced any issues with it so far. Everything is flawless. I really want to know who has the issues with this wonderful phone.
RU-vidrs need to stop listening to internet trolls The screen has a hollow feeling dude. If you ever seen the tear down, you will know that there's a thousand things behind the screen. It's impossible for the screen to have a hollow feeling. It's very apparent that most people hating on this phone have never even purchased it. They're literally just repeating what MKBHD said 6 months ago that actually wasn't true, then that it isn't true now as a RU-vidr. Damien, you should stop listening to random people on the internet who have no merit and what they're saying. It looks bad when you're spreading information. That's false. You shouldn't be doing that. Second off, I love how people say this fingerprint scanner is slow, but you haven't seen a single video of the fingerprint scanner being slow again in your very own video. The fingerprint scanner is just as fast as an s22 ultra So why say it's slow? It's very clearly not slow, never has been and never will be. I truly do not understand how Google garners all this hate and RU-vidrs literally keep up the lies. I do not understand this crap. People saying this phone is unusable in the summer. I live in Michigan. It was 85° yesterday. I was outside And my phone was on the car mount. The phone didn't get hot. It didn't overheat it wasn't unusable. Why do people keep saying that? Oh because they hate Google. All the people saying the pics of six has Bluetooth hardware issues. Where did that come from? Just some more Trump misinformation It's crazy The stuff people will say about this phone all because Apple has nothing to talk about for the iPhone 13 and the pixel is basically a s22 ultra So I don't know why what the same screen as Samsung people are saying the pixel screen is hollow but the s22 ultra which is a little bit bigger isn't hollow. These internet trolls are actually dumb and so literally keep upholding their bullshit. It's hilarious to me. You RU-vidrs need to realize how much power you have and need to understand that listening and looking at comments on somebody's fucking video or Reddit isn't actual reality. Just because one douchebag says Google decided to put defective Bluetooth hardware in the phone doesn't mean that Google actually put defective Bluetooth hardware on the phone. Stop listening to these pissed off white kids that Apple isn't has nothing to talk about anymore. Those are the only people saying their fingerprint scanner is unusable. Those are the only people saying that Google tensor can't play games. Stop with this internet misinformation bullshit if you can't see now that it's a actual hate campaign out here to delegitimize Google. I don't know what to tell you dude You use the phone yourself say your phone has none of these problems and yet you keep talking about this bullshit that people keep saying online. That's actually obviously not true. Google even have to say they swapped a fingerprint scanner on the 6A. It's kind of funny how the 6A finger for scanner looks just as fast as the 6 fingerprint scanner. But everybody's going to say how the 6A has such a better fingerprint scanner mark might words
The only bug that I noticed I still have on my pixel 6 is some Bluetooth issues. Otherwise a phone is decently fast though nowhere near as smooth and stable and bug free as my Samsung Galaxy s22 ultra. It's just that fast and accurate voice to text on my pixel that keeps drawing me in.
I'm about to buy this phone for 450 € (390 pounds). It's used ofc but has been used with a screen protector and a case and looks brandnew. I can't do anything wrong with that deal now, can I?
Ok for thosrv who are interested.. I have just got 3 days in a row with 8 plus hours sot Samsung health..I uninstalled it and it has given me 90 extra minutes of sot
Got my P6P at launch. Connectivity for calls was initially terrible. Dropped calls left right and centre, near to unusable as a phone. Much better over each update. Hate the "hollow" screen, I've heard this is related to repair/ replace or perhaps the specific type of display? Not sure I can go back to an alternative phone now, pixel and droid software is fairly epic. 🎺
I wish the pixel pro had a frosted glass finish as I think the gloss looks quite cheap looking. I went for the stormy version an I’m not a massive fan especially with the two tone. I think a dark frosted glass would have looked the part. However, I still love the device!
Took my phone case off today to change SIMs to switch to Google FI. Annnnnd....... my battery expanded. Samsung Note 9 Plus. Looking for a replacement - I keep phones for as long as possible. You said the Pixel 6 Pro wasn't the best Android phone, so what is? And I like a bigger phone so I can use the touch screen accurately and see what I'm doing.
It's a great phone. The pixel 6 felt a bit cheap to me. The screen is no way near as good as the pro. I've also had the S22 ultra, which just wasn't as smooth as a pixel. Scrolling felt jittery. Games crashed. Happy with the 6 Pro. Best phone on the market for me.
So I am at my third pixel 6 pro (on the current June Update) and have more problems than ever. My phone lasts about 3 hours before dying (brightness 50%), sometimes it wont charge and it gets so hot that I cannot even hold it in my hand. This has happened on all 3 devices. I am using an official anker cable and charger which got replaced as well. The issue has to be within the phone.
I used my 6Pro for about five months and decided that A) hate the curved edges; and B) it's just too dang big. Everything else I LOVE about it. I wish they would make a pro series in the size of the Pixel 5. I did not experience any software hiccups that have been so widely reported.
Nice little follow up and echoes similar experiences. Interested to hear thoughts of Android 13 Beta 3 running on the device. I feel like it's relatively stable and the battery has been solid. What do you think? 🎺
I probably won't install Android 13 Beta 3 (or older) on my Pixel 6 Pro. Seems good on regular Pixel 6 though so far. The battery is great on the smaller model anyway!
@@DamienWilde sounds good! Holding out hope they might still enable face unlock for the P6P on the 13 release. Would be nice if they could at least leverage face unlock to show private notifications when it recognizes that it's you and then potentially use the fingerprint sensor to unlock the device and for security prompts. As for battery life, from your personal experience, have you found the smaller P6 to have better longevity over the P6P?
The titles reminds me of Pocketnow's After the Buzz. I don't mind the Pixel 6 Pro. I'm only in it for the telephoto which 90% of smartphones in 2022 and even 2021 don't have. Definitely something to consider.
This scares me a bit, about the Pixel 7 and potentially 7 Pro and 7 Ultra. I want to switch to a Pixel device cuz Vanilla Android is the only Android that should be on any phone, I hate skins, and bogged down software releases. I'm between the 7 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max for my next phone(depending on what the specs look like) and I'm scared the Pixel 7 Pro will suffer the same, Google just can't seem to get it 100% right.
Thanks for the video, got the 6pro with Father's day discount a while back, £699 and I think it performs pretty well. It's my first Pixel since using Android for 13 years. Only buggy thing is the occasional froze of some apps when I go HOME. Excellent phone
The Pixel BUDS work perfectly. I love simultaneous translation feature in your ear. The Pixel Watch will come with the Pixel 7 Pro. Currently, I have the Fossil Gen6 And it is an excellent complement for my Pixel 6 Pro.
That's way too long. Which charger are you using ? Should take no longer than 2 hours, charging from 0-100. And that's considered long! 3-4 hours doesn't seem right unless your using a charging wire and Brick that's not compatible.
I've owned the base Pixel 6 for a good 6 months now. Without doubt, the most satisfying Android experience I've ever had. The software experience and the trademark pixel-look photos are second to none. HOWEVER, I have gotten really used to Dual Sim use. And since the pixel doesn't support dual (physical) sim, and it not being supported by e-sim providers since it is not officially for sale in my country, I've had to sell it and return to OnePlus.
I just tapped the middle of my iPhone XR and it’s also sounds hallo in the middle, I had the 6 pro when it came out but the bugs and fps and other things I had to get rid of it, but I’m thinking of buying it back or pixel 6
Battery life is disappointing considering Tensor is their made to order chip. I’m a fan but disappointing considering it’s the best Google has to offer
I "upgraded" to the p6p from s20+ I regret everything the p6p is so basic buggy reminds me of the old Nokia Windows phones. I have never hated a phone so much. I have ordered my 1st ever iPhone because after the experience of the P6P I am ready for pastures new.
I always go for the white phones with silver frames, don't show scratches nearly as bad! I just ordered a Pixel 6 Pro from T-Mobile, $200 off + $300 trade in = $400. Of course I got the cloudy white, it will be here tomorrow. Yes, I know the 7 is right around the corner and no, I don't care. Value people, value. Not paying retail for no phone, it's why I don't have a Pixel yet. The 7 looks to be an incremental update anyways.
I've had my Pixel 6 Pro since the release date, I've never had any issues at all, but thanks to the updates it has gotten better, but my only main issue with the phone is that it Overheats too much near the phone's chin I have no idea what I did, maybe I used a bad cable I don't know
do u use a case? i just ordered the 6 pro..was deciding btw this and s22 or pixel 6 regular...but got the best deal on this so went with the pro. hoping it was a good decision
🎺 "Hollow sounding screen" is such a weird nitpick and is something only some spoiled techie will be concerned with. Your average folks picking up this device aren't concerned with that. But I had the 6 Pro at launch and switched out for the standard 6 because I loved the flat panel, the matte rails and the slightly smaller footprint. Plus, I had no real need for the telephoto. The Pixel series were never out to be the fastest phones with bleeding-edge hardware. They are about showcasing Google's software finesse. I think the 6 Pro was a great device and is worth a recommendation for someone who wants a less expensive flagship Android with a beautiful screen and all of Google's software prowess. But the standard 6 was more my bag and gave me everything I look for out of a daily driver. Save for a headphone jack and expandable storage lol
That's because the Pixel 6 pro and the Samsung s22 ultra are basically the same phone. One just has one UI. The other one has a material you. But if you're a Samsung user and a pixel user, you know both of these phones are the same. Except the pixel with the exynos processor is obviously better than a Samsung with an exynos processor because you know Samsung is trash
I prefer the OnePlus 10 pro over my pixel 6 pro. It's faster and smoother than Google at its own game. And smoothness is the most important thing for me. I also think the screen and speakers are better on.the OnePlus . However the software updates and the little extra Google quirks you get on the pixel are better than that on the OnePlus. I also like the slightly wider pixel screen. But overall the pixel is a 9 and the OnePlus a 10 imo. But both are great and absolutely smash the s22 ultra and you won't go wrong with either. I agree with tensor . It's not the most powerful out there . However if you test most android flagships now . They tend to score no better than the tensor out of the box. You have to turn on performance mode to bring out the slightly better score. I haven't had any issues performance wise with my pixel and don't really see that the OnePlus with it's snapdragon 8 gen 1 or the s22 ultra with it's utter garbage exynos chip perform any better day to day.
