Still have mine. Returned the 8 pro. The camera lag was insane. I didn't see the major differences with the cameras sure it's a little better but I'll stick with the 7 pro for a while longer
These kinds of arbitrary software feature locks really bug me. When the internal hardware is the same between devices, just give us feature parity when it comes to software. It's annoying when Apple software gimps the external display output capabilities of the Macbook Air vs the Pro, it's annoying when Google do it to the regular Pixel vs the Pixel Pro device.
Great work! I have a hunch as well that the major features stay on the 8pro and we're left not getting them. Where is XDA Developers when you need it. Back in the day we'd have the phones rooted and every feature on all phones by now. The good ol days
What they do to their customers is less than right, Delicious Steve. I would avoid Pixel phones for that reason alone. I doubt Samsung will sink as low with the S24 series. We will see, though.
Yeah, good topic and I gotta say that would be a bummer for the lineup. I understand the pixel eight not getting some of the AI features that come with the better cameras on the pro but the other AI features that’s slapping the face for people who bought the regular Pixel 8 like myself and if that happens to be the case, this will be the last regular pixel I get unless they make a pixel pro that’s smaller.
Ive had the pixel pro for like 8 months now and the screen has failed, the volume buttons have just fallen out so have to keep it in a case, and when wake up on 100% battery it drains to 80% before even leave for work 2 hours later, barely lasts a work day when it's barely being used. Super laggy and bugs out on the reg. Also uploading photos from it is terrible because the quality is often degraded where it isn't on and it doesn't let you access your albums in your gallery when trying to upload by default. (so you can't just favorite the pics you wanna upload to Instagram in a series of photos you have to scroll through a list of tiny thumbnails from your recent photos and hope you can identify the good selfie from the tiny thumbnails. Android unfortunately is not the operating experience it was 10 years ago... Shit sucks.
I have a pixel 8 and am gutted due to them already making my phone defunct. What will this phone look like after 5 years of updates ? I imagine the pro will have everything and the standard 8 will just get security updates
Just bought one, fingerprint scanner is TRASH. Took about 10 minutes to register a fingerprint and then it NEVER recognized it when trying to unlock it. I don't even know what to do
The most stupid shit is almost all these so called exclusive pixel features end up just becoming available to any android* device with a Google One subscription in Photos.
I admit I feel so stupid to have paid all these $$$$ for my pixel 7 pro. Google phones are worthless, they use Exynos chips and calls it Tensor. Bulsheed mid range phone not flagship at all. I will never touch a pixel phone again ones I get rid of this 7pro. Bullsheeeddddd! The device hits a lot, terrible battery life, often system freezes, getting laggy... All because of Exynos 2200 (which Google claims as Tensor 2 😅)
