Yup, which is why the comparison to the iPhone XR here is kind of funny. The XR has a much worse display, but the bezels actually look BETTER imo because it has even bezels all around. The 8a's combination of thick bezels with an even THICKER bottom chin makes it look like a midranger from 2018.

Bezels are better as provides better protection. Gives more surface area for cases to wrap around and then screen protector can be put in place.

I just got my 8a in bay blue that is so cool. I have had all of the pixel pro pixels and I can't get over how much I like the 8a. No more $1000 phones and it's super comfortable in my hand.

I remember when people used to complain about small bezels and not having a place to put their fingers to hold the phone. Reviewers used to comment about how they shouldn't make the bezels any smaller.

People need to SHUT. This phone isn't for people who can go out and buy the 1000 dollar phones. I'm getting this phone and upgrading from a phone that the screen is literally falling off, and it fully crashes (turning off) when I try to do anything advanced (I was changing my gmail password and the phone turned off) This phone to me will prob feel like I traveled years into the future (because I did lol)

That's just pure cope and you know it. Moto, Vivo, Xioami, Nothing, OnePlus all have smartphones with smaller bezels and Gorilla Glass 5 or Victus. Every brand I just named has a smartphone with better specs and build quality for under $500.00.

I like the colours of the 8a over the 8. Ended up getting a regular 8 because the price difference was so small but at a discount the 8a is a good phone. Bezels aside it's basically as good as the regular 8 except for the camera, which is still really good.

The iPhone XR display is an LCD while the Pixel 8A has an OLED so Samsung could've made the bezels way thinner.

as a sony xperia user i dont mind that bezel sony kept their design language for ages and still love it keeping it simple not really fan of punch hole anyway but as i said i dont mind the bezel on the pixel 8a the problem is they used a plastic back and it costs way more than a midranger than it should be even though it has the same tensor as the regular 8 and 8 pro

Oh how creature comforts stifle humans ability to appreciate almost anything 🤦🏾‍♂️ The phone is great! It was the perfect purchase for my 56 year old mother who tends to break both front and rear glasses on iPhones. She LOVES it and so did I while setting it up for her.

In my own opinion, people dislike the slightly thicker bezels is because people just nowadays care about "minimalism" and "aesthetics" instead of having something that will serve its purpose. The bezels don't even bug me one bit, its not like I'll be staring at the bezels whenever I'd use my phone. In fact, people's attention are mostly focused on the screen, so I don't know how people find thicker bezels "annoying" or "distracting" or whatever people find ways to dislike on something, because it just doesn't make any damn sense...to me at least. People can dislike something sure, but when I try to understand from their POV, it just makes no sense sometimes.

I went from a Pixel 7 to an iPhone 15 Pro, sold it and went back to the Pixel 7 and then got a Pixel 8a. I don't care about the bezels at all. It's just the usual internet mob mentality where a bunch of people get all worked up over things that don't matter. I ended up with a phone that's perfectly fine and $400 back in my bank account.

Truthfully, I have to wonder why this phone even exists. Frankly, you can find the pixel 8 on sale for about $50 more. I'm not a huge fan of pixel devices because of the tensor chipsets but, I'd rather have the 8 then the 8A. At least, it offers solid build quality as opposed to the plastic build with those terrible bezels.
