The real shutter lag issue isn't the speed to capture the photo, but the shutter speed. I have an S23 Ultra, but from what I've seen the 24 Ultra still has this issue. Take a picture of a moving person in any questionable lighting and the Pixel will always win.
💯 this. My dog has to be basically asleep in order to get a non-blurry photo with my S23 Ultra. Never had that issue with any of the Pixels I've had before. I'm trading in my phone for the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
@@malekinceptionit’s 100% software, the hardware has gone through many iterations and actually is technically some of the best on the market (if not the best).
I know I saw the same thing, but strangely Tom forgot to mentioned that on this review, but I guarantee you that if it was the other way around he would be pounding the issue but because it wasn't it was never mentioned.
I used to be a galaxy S23 ultra user but switched to the pixel 8 Pro because I didn't like the galaxy's processing. I photograph a lot, mostly street photography, some casual travelling photos and pets. Pixel suits my needs better. It gives me more freedom when editing, like color correction, presets, and filters work best with pixel. Now, I can't think about switching to other brands. It had some heating issues here and there at first but now they fixed everything. Wish they added 5x portrait feature.
Agreed. Been using P8Pro but somehow it lacks something in photography. I then switch to Sony 1 VI and its the most realistic I've seen on any phone, period. That combined with s-cine tone gives you the most natural-looking pictures coming out of a mobile phone. The battery is a beast, definitely lasts 2 days with 4-5 hours of SoT per day. The thermals are great, the phone never gets hot, literally. Unless your game heave for 30 minutes or so. Macro Telephoto is amazing!
@@AB-tc8lx Pro XL is cheaper in price compare to S24 Ultra. You get 2 different sizes also for same the camera setup in google. and also if you just get the 9 Pro, it is almost $400 CAD/ $300 USD cheaper than S24 ultra. Plus pixel prices drops really quickly after the launch, which makes them lot cheaper. more RAM compare to S24. 😊
I like my S24 Ultra, it is a fantastic phone, but I can't stand shutter lag. I downloaded Camera Assistant, but it still can't capture moving subject as well as Pixel phones do.
Actually there's nothing wrong with the shutter speed, it captures photos just as fast as any other phone. The issue is motion blur. Poor software, Samsung really need to fix that with the S25 series.
Looks like you disabled auto HDR settings on your S24 ultra. 5:01 Those highlights are so blown out you cant see any detail at all. Did you do it on purpose to make the S24 ultra look much worse? I like pixels but Im not biased towards it as I have both pixel and samsung phones. You on the other hand looks like you sabotaged the s24 ultra by DISABLING the Auto-HDR
Biased review got paid by Google pixel to write a review I see through the smoky mirrors and I also read that many reviews are fraudulent and Amazon has been fined for allowing false reviews
Yer looked decent to me. Seem a few reviews saying the same. And lets talk bout the windows lol blow on samy phone. Kinda bad as well. And i have a samy s24 . Be getting pixels again. Front camera looks great not washed out. 👌
200MP is a gimmick, the detail resolve is maybe 50MP max, if not less. Still impressive, but it's a marketing trick, not a feature. 50MP however does look about two times better than standard 12MP shots, but only if you crop, if not, then 12MP binned image looks better.
12:10 Let’s first understand video boost and then discuss it. Currently, no mobile phone has the performance to handle such a huge calculation. Even a computer can hardly do it.
I’m not talking about 8k upscale, I’m talking about it doing things like better night mode and Len’s corrections in video. That’s something that should be done locally
@@ItsTomRichNight mode requires merging details from multiple frames and machine learning based noise reduction, which is *very* power & memory intensive to do for 30 fps 4k video on the device. Your phone would be gobbling so much power that an Ultra phone's battery would drain completely in about an hour or so. You are correct on lens switching though, that should be doable on device with multi camera streaming.
Bro... What are you saying?🤦 There's no competition here. The pixel is better.. my goodness.. the pixel has fixed exposure and dynamic range issues. Like no competition here.
Samsung's processing alone made me switch from the S24 ultra to Pixel 9 Pro. Every photo I took on samsung had a green tint to it, and it drove me crazy.
I really don't like the purple tinge on Samsung cameras. It's been there since my first ever Galaxy S back in 2010. I guess that's just their colour science, and it's not for me. Google Pixel is the best.
in a lot of the shots the highlights are really blown out on the S24U which is not the case on my device. Is there maybe a setting accidentally disabled?
Shutter lag on Samsung phones makes those cameras pretty much worthless. Unless you only use camera for taking pictures of buildings in broad day light.
The pixel look section of the video kinda discredits your whole camera review to be honest...I mean I understand where you're coming from but to compare two images in which one is perfectly exposed while the other is blowing out every light to make it brighter and more natural as you put it, it's icky. You could've chosen a proper image captured by the Samsung which does the photo justice but with its own samsung processing compared to a picture taken by the pixel with overaccentuated HDR processing, but that's not what you did in the comparison in the video unfortunately. The pixel is objectively the better camera phone in that particular comparison so it does make you come across as biased towards the Samsung I'm afraid, but hey you're a pro photographer so what do we know.
It's worth mentioning the pricing of both devices and All features workability outside the USA. In my country Google Pixels can be parallel imported only, AI won't work and the price will be higher than Galaxy S24 Ultra. Just wondering whether Tom would pick up Xiaomi 14 Ultra over these two phones, especially if it's cheaper?
Love your videos man. But its clear video boost is not for people like you. It's for people like me, we have all the time in the world for the video to be processed, no shades 😅
For simple people who don't have video editing skills, so pro footage will process best way as possible and provide it automatically. This RU-vidr don't like this way even not compared in this video at feature is available for free.
I feel like you should also point out that the galaxy has been out for about 8 months now and has had major updates addressing the camera. The pixel came out kast week and has had no camera updates yet. Just fair to mention.
So glad you called out the BS that is video boost. I went to Disneyland a few weeks ago and took a lot of the night time videos using video boost. I couldn't actually share the vodeos for about 5 days as i was in and out of WiFi. And the video boost absolutely hammers your mobile data. Its a joke. It wouldn't be acceptable for photos and it shouldn't be acceptable for videos. Either do it on device or don't do it at all. And the "8k" video? Seriously google, get it together.
I think that Google really let us down this year nothing too amazing or spectacular or maybe i was expecting too much... I will keep my Pixel 6 vanilla for another year wishing for an exciting new pixel like the Pixel 6 was years ago! 😁
Improved thermals and better heat management with prolonged battery life are not anything to take for granted. I had the 6 Pro which I'm actually going back to while I wait another year or so to upgrade. Man I got the "phone is too hot" notification so many times until it's not funny. Zoom calling would usually be the culprit though so I'm just mentally preparing myself and have reliable alternatives in place. Also the battery life was nowhere as good as it was when I switched to the Galaxy S22 Ultra at the time so I'll keep a battery bank on me as well. Other than a few issues, I absolutely love the original 6 Pro and still is the best designed Pixel in my opinion besides the Pixel 2 XL Panda edition.
If you want an old style photo style, just use a third party app. It'll give you full control. The pixel crushes Samsung on a lot of those pics. The fact that one is used to non HDR photos and prefere them, that will disapear and become a nishe style as HDR will become standard. That said, I hope Google fixes thr portrait mode. Its been lacking big time on the shots I've seen.
Man I love my S24U but the Pixel takes better photos. Almost all of the Samsung photos on here are blown out in the background. Samsung doesn't handle light very well. I hope they fix this. S23U was so much better.
nice video... but id like to dare you to talk without your eyebrows moving. hahahahahha you remind me of my teacher who couldnt stop making her eyebrows move while discussing stuff xD
These kinds of comparisons make no sense when you compare 2 pictures with different backgrounds. For ex. At 2 min he compare front facing pictures. Pixel has trees in the background and galaxy has white building in the background. Just a little difference in the background can make lots of the difference in lighting, colors and overall quality of the image. I stopped watching this video at that point. MAKE REAL COMPARISON BY TAKING BOTH PICTURES SAME TIME AT SAME ANGLE
In the Expert Raw Mode my S24 Ultra automatically does some strange processing. It looks like some HDR filter is taken on the photo. Does any one has a suggetsion how to turn this automatic processing off?
I dont know why in every review i see different thing we dont have it in our phones ? Like s24 ultra front camers its excellent but here its showing like sheap crappy phone ?
Samsung don't even close with the pixel lol the color science of Samsung is terrible always blown out background details and exposed image too much... please don't take this shit next to pixel 🙏 Google is just crushing ever single phone in camera department!! and now this year they kill in looks too.
My s24 ultra does not blow out lights from windows. I think this guy definitely manipulated the Samsung photos. There's no way I believe that those are true photos of the Samsung phone. I have an s24 ultra and it competes neck and neck with the iPhone 15 pro Max
@@mmafanatic-tz5oranother viewer noticed that the auto-HDR setting on the s24 Ultra was manually turned off. So yes, it was indeed manipulated. In reality, even if some pixel fanboys don't want to hear it, while the Pixel is still a bit ahead the photos of these two devices are closer toghether than what is shown in the video. Sorry to break it to you but the Pixel is not Milestone ahead and in it's own all surpasing league
S24u is way more complete and better overall package... yall sound like a professional photographer while u just take few pics of ur girl or a dog few times a months gtfo
Sorry, Vivo X100 Ultra is the Android camera king. It beats the S24 Ultra in practically ever category, including S24's strength, telephoto photography.
i understand that you do these videos for earning money, and that's fine. but please think for a second or two before saying things like the photos are very very similar. even a blind person can see that the photos (4:16 to 5:16) cannot be more different. samsung's trademark overblown highlights and unnatural colours whereas pixel keeping things more sane. i don't know man, but please look at the photos before commenting.
