This video explains how to make a cool looking Pixel Art Lightning Strike Effect in Aseprite. As a solo dev developoer, Art can be difficult and so I thought I make a quick tutorial on how to make a Lightning Strike Effect.

Oh this is great stuff, this is gonna help so much with my game, thanks man =) the glowing effects is EXACTLY what ive been wanting (a man that has been doing those glowing effects by hand)

How do you edit mutiple art at the same time like a mirror? I am super new to aseprite and this is my first ever creation in it sorry if it is a dumb question.

ALT +V , Tiled Mode then u can select if u want to tile X, Y or both axis

draw the initial beam ctrl + o and make an auto outline the same color of the beam new frame repeat the outline new frame repeat the outline new frame repeat the outline, but now the outline mode is "inside" and the color is transparent new frame repeat the inside transparent outline now you have a fully animated lightning strike with an cool animation

Hi, how do you export blurred frames with transparent background? When I do it in to the gif it's always with background

Are you sure you don't have a background in your image by accident? If I go to "File->Export" and then just export my animated sprite I have a transparent background, the extension is .gif

@@Cakez77 i mean I never tried the "effects" tool in aseprite. or maybe 🤔 that's not the case at all? I forget what was my original problem with it so I'll have to check that out, but you got me thinking 😜. Thanks for the video though

Ahh it makes so much sense that convolution would create glow because it sort of averages colors and creates bleeding effect. I've heard of it, but never got a good example of where to use it.

Can you also show us how you implemented this skill in the game, for example, because of the actors pos in the game, the lightning strikes are all different in size, how did you do this?

You use something called "Texture repeating", try to google that. It repeats the texture if two units are too far away from eachother
