Beef is supposed to be your teacher. tells you not to battle a rock type against a water. get a new teacher Etho XD

Etho, referring to the exp. bar: "Ahh the blue bar on the bottom right, that's the ahhhhhhhh.... Mp right?" Distracted Beef: "Exactly."

Everybody complains about the Geodude, nobody is annoyed at how Beef told Etho for minutes on end that his EXP bar was shared PP.

Some tips for the first episode: 1. The blue bar you were looking at is XP. PP is the number next to the move. 2. Get rid of status moves like Growl. They're practically useless. 3. Try to use attacks that match the type of your Pokemon. So Bubble for your Froakie, since both are Water type. IIRC this makes the attack do 150% damage. 4. Either learn or have the Type chart pulled up. You could've very easily defeated that Geodude since you had the type advantage with Bubble. 5. Evade has nothing to do with Speed. The reason he avoided your attack is because he decreased your accuracy. Speed only determines which Pokemon moves first.

When beef makes a joke about being taught by prof birch, when prof birch is a real professor 😂

It's kind of funny watching Beef trying to teach Etho how to play when Beef knows about as much as Etho.

Im super happy Etho is learning about the world of pokemon but the learning curve is gonna be pretty oof for a while

Some tips for deciding on moves: Always keep a move that is the same type as your pokemon. For now your Froakie is only water type, so you keep the best water type move you have. Later he'll also be dark type, so you'll keep a water move and also a dark move. The other slots you can fill with offensive moves of other types. Preferably ones that hit opponents that resist your main moves. Water + Dark hits pretty much everything on their own, so you're pretty well off there. But you might need to do that for other pokemon you'll catch. If you think you're ok against most/all types you can get some status moves that either boost you or weaken the opponent.

Of course sneaky ninya man picks the thing that turns into a ninya frog.

Okay, VintageBeef knows nothing about this game. 1. You could have easily taken that Geodude. Water moves are stong against both Ground types and Rock types, and Geodude is a Ground Rock type. 2. That blue bar is your XP meter, not your PP or MP meter. Your PP meter is shown below your move's name when you select one.

I’ve played a ton of the Pokémon games, but have barely followed Pixelmon at all. I absolutely cannot wait for all the hilarity that ensues throughout this series!

Sorry if it’s addressed in the video but the blue bar was XP and the PP is in the combat box and each move has the their own amount of PP I love pixelmon but this is painful lol love your videos

Super excited for this series! A tip i can give you is that if you use moves that are the same type as the Pokemon using it, for instance if you use bubble with Froakie it will do 1.5X more damage.

Really excited to see more of this in the future! In case you want to do research for this mod, you should know that pretty much everything regarding the pokemon themselves is identical to the actual games. This includes even their stat distribution and what levels they evolve/gain new abilities. So pokemon-specific websites like smogon or pokemondb can be incredibly useful if you want to snoop around.

Why do people always say etho plays series for a short amount of time as if it’s a bad thing? I don’t know why you guys are mad about this because a lot of the times the series he does do that is because the series is bad or drawn out, frankly I trust ethos judgement and if he likes the series he likes the series not everything is about you guys you know.

I normally don't comment on videos but I have to say that you have made my 9 year old son so happy. He loves Pokemon and he loves your videos. He plays pokemon go with his 74 year old Nana and they have the best time. He is so wanting to give you pokemon advice lol. Your PP is how many times you can use the move before you can't use it anymore and it's not the blue bar. If you highlight over the move while fighting next to it you will see x/x and that tells you how many times you can use it. It does replenish when you heal. You can also see it by looking at your pokemon's summary. You might have figured that out already but I just wanted to comment just in case.

Etho can be ironic at times. He sounds/acts so mature, yet he laughs at PP. 😂

for those who didn't finish the series, Etho learns a lot and became a lot better than the average person who's played multiple Pokemon games. I guarantee you won't regret sticking it out and watch a complete noob go from no knowledge to a pretty good battler

I dunno how well Beef explained it, but in battle you can go into the Pokémon menu and check your Pokémon's summary. You can use this to check the power and effects of your moves. As mentioned, moves are either physical, special, or status. Physical attacks use the Attack and Defense stats, Special attacks use the Special Attack and Special Defense stats, and status moves do a lot of things.

Here's some tips in regards to your team that you'll want to build: 1. Your goal in building a team is to have a team of six pokemon that complement each other type wise. You'll want a pokemon that can effectively dish out super effective damage to just about every pokemon there is. 2. To help with that, you will probably want your second or third captured pokemon to complement greninja (the final evolution of froakie) very well. Greninja is weak to fighting, bug, grass, electric, and fairy. As such, it's a good idea to catch a pokemon that does well against those types. For example, a pokemon like numel (evolves into camerupt) is fire and ground type. It will be able to deal with grass, bug, and electric effectively, which are the majority of greninja's weaknesses. Other good choices would be litwick (ghost and fire type) or crobat (poison and flying type). 3. You might see some people worrying about EVs, natures, etc. Don't worry too much about them. Because you're rather new to pokemon, these attributes would probably go way over your head. You should think about types, moves, and abilities. That being said, if you want to do some of the more complex stuff, be my guest. 4. With any pokemon game (or pixelmon in this case), sites like Bulbapedia that have information on the game are your most trusted ally. Use them and profit. 5. Don't forget to have fun! There's no point to playing if you don't find it fun.

FYI You can't pick up healers! So make sure they are where you want them when you place them. Silk Touch doesn't work either.

There are two kinds of attacks: physical and special. Special moves are usually beam type moves like bubble, ember, thundershock etc. Physical moves are moves that make contact like pund, tackle, vine whip, aqua jet. Attack and defense stats are connected to physical moves, so if your attack is lowered, it won't effect a move like bubble. And special defense and special attack is connected to special moves.

One Pokemon that can evolve with that rock, is Eevee. It will turn into a Leafeon.
