@@leethomas255Well if you take into consideration they are playing at a festival and their is no bullshit in betw songs and the length of the songs in gen, it seemed longer in a good way of course than just 56 mins. I think on their tours they played 1.5 or 1.75 hours. The crowds were much more into the music. Sometimes you could not hear Frank's vox from everyone around your singing at the top of their lungs on every song. That sucked but was also cool at the same time as I was one of them.

@@kurtstengel8699 Kurt Stengel + true, very few bands get more than 1 hour in a festival. I didn't know it was a festival gig. But, considering their albums, they could play for 2 hours if not more. But age and stamina is a factor. Even bands known for very long sets like Kiss and Iron Maiden no longer play for 2 hours. If the Pixies toured this year, I'd see them if their set was only one hour!!😲👍

@@leethomas255 Well the Grateful Dead played for close to 4 hours with a 30 min break from the early eighties through the end of the road w/ Jerry (1995). It was never enough as well. Pixies could play for the same easily and not bore anyone with any musical soul. I do believe Foo Fighters play for close to 3 hours with no break (although that would bore me to tears...just my opinion). I love Grohl's drumming but not his vox. Great musician though (love Pat Smear as well).

There are some easy comparisons to Pixies band members. Like Frank could be a pissed off older balder Larry Mandello from Leave It To Beaver or Uncle Fester from Adams Family, Joey Santiago is the understated virtuoso version of Kirk Hammett from Metallica, David Lovering is the Richard Jenkins (actor everyman) of hard rock who yeah just mowed his lawn, put on a clean shirt, then picked up some drum sticks, and of course Paz is the next-gen version of Pretenders Chrissie Hynde with bass and signature vocals and and nice Kim Deal replacement. But really, all comparisons aside, there is no band who sounds like (the) Pixies. They just had/have something special in their combined alchemy. Death to The Pixies! ;-)

Te entiendo, pero yo cacho que tampoco se debe confundir lo que promueven y financian las grandes industrias culturales, este caso los grandes sellos musicales y productoras, con las producciones genuinas que circulan por fuera, por los márgenes. Hay mucha gente que esta haciendo cosas muy interesantes en estos momentos, y por fuera de esos circuitos. Lo que ocurre tal vez, es que ya no existen esos grandes relatos, movimientos o géneros que terminaron con los 90s. Y eso pasa en otras disciplinas artísticas también. A lo que voy, es que por ejemplo, no podemos afirmar que estás nuevas generaciones se rindieron y hablo indistintamente de la disciplina, porque a sus producciones no las veamos o apreciemos circulando en los medios masivos de difusión.

Por esa misma razón me referí a la masividad... al one click... donde muere el ritual y la mística de consumir expresiones artísticas genuinas... excluyo de eso a los que adoptan gustos por bandas como Warpaint, Silversun Pickups o Mutemath... y a otras cientos de bandas de rock "alternativo" que siguen resistiendo en el "basement", creando poesía incómoda e incomprendida, con el mismo desenfado de los íconos de los 90 pero de forma distinta... reinterpretada, lo que se agradece.

@@carljules3123 If any "backing vox" was not close to the sweetness of Kim's voice it would have to be Where is my mind? Otherwise, I thought she was great. Sound engineering plays a part as well. I also noticed Frank's/Black.Francis'/Charles' vox were affected ala Planet of Sounds vision, but not as in your face. Very phasey...but not because of necessity I would imagine. His vox sometimes drowned out Paz's from my system anyways (studio-quality Sony MDR V900's which I bought 20 some yrs ago and sound exactly the same....amazing). I used them for mixing my music at times for another perspective and to get a real feel for the sub-bass b/c they go down to the 8 MHz range. ANYWAYS after I wrote this, I went back and listened to the first reunion shows w/ a much better mix and Kim of course and Frank actually sounded better now, but the overall mix was way better and made me think maybe I was off on my proclamation. I was there as well for the first and second reunions. Made me feel like an idiot for still putting out my own music :(. You can pick on any one performance all you want, but if you take a look at the studio and live book of work from the Pixies from Come on Pilgrim through Beneath the Eyrie and EP's in between, etc (and hopefully continuing with the new disc) they chart (bad word to use eh?) up there with bands like The Cure, Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr, RHCP, Soundgarden, Depeche Mode, Queens of the Stone Age, NIN, etc. That is saying a lot. Franks solo Country/Western stuff w/ the Catholics I would not include, but his solo stuff up to Cult of Ray and incl the genius self-titled and Teenager or the year YES YES YES!. Sorry for the book, but maybe some have never heard of this earlier stuff and would check it out as a result of my rambling. Give Paz a break thought...some huge shoes she's stepping into. My hat goes off to her!
