This song is freaking brilliant. The melody, the lyrics feel like something out of a cousy Autumn rainy day, spent under the bed covers with ones lover - quite the best thing you can have. Pixies forever.
In humble opinion Pixies is the greatest rock band ever on earth! The range, the creativity and poetry! Can break my heart and mend it at the same time.
This is amazing that this late in the game they are actually making incredible pop music. Paz joining saved this band from falling apart and instead is giving them a second life! This is fantastic! Pixies forever!
I saw them in Detroit about 3 weeks ago. This song was probably the highlight of the evening. I enjoyed their new stuff far more than their classics that night (however, The Sad Punk and Motorway to Roswell melted me). It was a big realization for me. One that a lot of these intolerant fans have not yet come to. It's so important that they continue and move on. They can not keep touring Doolitle in 2014. Black Francis is one of the most important song writers of our time. It'd be a shame if he was stuck with a routine. This is quality music that we should be rejoicing over instead of remaining stubbornly unimpressed.
I agree totally with what you said. And they have such an ability to perform live that they make any songs sound great. For example a song from Neil Young and one from Leonard Cohen. So they definitely should come up with more material and play it live. People say that some new songs aren't that good like Ring the Bells, but l bet it would be such a blast to hear it live that soon it would become a Pixies' anthem.
Amen! Completely agree with your comment on Francis being one of the most important songwriters of our generation...you can only play the classics so long, let the man do what he does. This song is a modern Pixies classic, it has all the beauty of the golden age stuff but with a refined energy that comes with the years of experience...the hook is almost a jab to all the fake fans who are quick to shit on anything not Doolittle..."I'm wasting your time, just talking to you, may be best you go on home"... please do and let the real fans rejoice in the new stuff!!
New pixies is just mellow pixies. It’s hard to replicate the zany energy of youth when you’ve seen it all. No Kim means no whispery sexy vocals, and no young black Francis means no crazy screamy guy. It sounds perpetually crestfallen. Like if you’re two best friends we’re dating for ten years and broke up and you are left with the messy after math.
No1Uniq "Indie rock" doesn't mean anything, M. Sarcasm. Surf rock means something, pop rock & punk rock too. Pixies are the best band in thoses 3 genres, yes, because they're the only ones who mix them so wonderfully.
I'm not together, and you know it's true. My bits all wander in the trees. And if I ever seem a little strange, Would you excuse me please? I said I’m human, but you know I lie. I'm only visiting this shore. I'll soon be leaving in the outbound tide I pray again we will meet. I’m wasting your time, just talking to you Maybe best you go on home. I'll leave you alone, fade from your mind, Slip into the greens and blues. I said I'm human, but you know I lied. I'm only visiting this shore. I'll soon be leaving in the outbound tide. This song grabs me more with every listen. I cant believe the stain Indie Cindy's getting , it's got some awesome tunes on it! It's infectious to me as all Pixies or solo Frank Black has always been, I'm a total addict lol
I know that this song seems to be getting a lot of flack but I personally adore it. My most-listened song on the album, to be honest. It has a similar feeling to another favourite Pixies song of mine, 'Havalina'. I love that melancholy etherial quality that this sort of music has. It takes my brain to a different place and almost shuts it down for a minute. Idk, it hits me right in the feelings.
yes indeed... Havalina is one of my favorite songs, and the production of Greens and Blues actually helps it a lot, some of the songs in this album have been totally ruined by it's production process, like as Snakes, but this one actually won an etherial hype that makes it sounds something from outer space and beyond!
I've not seen any flack here. Maybe it is buried low in the comments due to the algorithm picking up on the fact that people actually love the song. A great Pixies song - "new" Pixies too! - and accessible beyond Pixies fans themselves. Anybody could enjoy this song. Frank Black is a genius, no denying it. The fact that David Bowie picked up on them is proof enough.
Your work for the last ten years has produced some of the most important, complex, and emotional songs I've ever encountered in my life, Frank Black. I know a lot of people refer to their favorite bands as providing "the sound-track of my life", but your songs have helped me live with depression, poverty, and all the modern bullshit attached to being an American these days. You and the rest of Pixies are the greatest band of all time. Fucking thank you, so much.
Heard this song yesterday for the first time on my first live Pixies concert ever, has been on my head all day and has made me happy and wonder, thanks so so much for keep making great music I enjoy
IMO, this is among their finest songs. I don't mean songs representing their style, but songs that may have lasting effect on the listener. 1. Where is my mind 2. Greens and Blues 3. Monkey gone to heaven 4. Bird dream of the Olympus Mons 5. On graveyard hill
@@reishizuka There is always a new one when you go back to Pixies. I rediscovered Gouge Away and it had a huge impact on me even though I'd heard it so many times from the album. Next was "Dead" which is abrasive and difficult, but once you get into it and understand the subject matter, plus just appreciating the unique and brilliant musical talent of the band, it is almost magical. Pixies are magical and I feel sorry for people who never "clicked" with them.
Love it. From the last EP to this, I think they are going great. Yes, having Kim back would be the icing on the cake, but still they are doing awesome. I want more Pixies.
I'm aware of the 'last-man-on-Earth' meaning behind the song and that the video was directed by J.F., but I'd like to think that the whole thing is sort of a love song from Frank to Kim. Even the protagonists kinda look like them.
Alguém do Brasil? Com certeza a música mais linda da banda Pixies e uma das mais lindas da história! Simples, direta e com um clipe incrível! É de emocionar!
Disagree. I find it way smoother in every regard. It's lacking a lot of the spontaneity of the early stuff. It's got a way cleaner sound because of that. I partially blame better production value. It feels more professional.
Hey y'all. Just saw that film for the first - I say it's wonderful. And the cast, wow! The show 9th March in Knoxvegas was truly great as well. Saying howdy before the show to mr.f.b.Francis was ,such a highlite too! Look forward 2 new album.bye
+avastyer lol, awesome > I took my daughter to her first concert ever when she was 14 , to the Pixies .....she's become a fan totally. I'm glad I could help point her in the general direction of decent music, it's hard to find at that age with all the garbage music marketed to teens :(
