Best video I could find on this process after viewing several others. 😊

Really clear description of the whole tool, this should help me use it with understanding of what I am doing, instead of blindly putting in magic numbers some bloke down the pub once told me.

Others have already rightly said, how great this tutorial is, thanks. Liked, subscribed and SAVED !!!

Very useful info, thanks Sasha. Due to cloudy nights in 🇨🇭, I have been imaging with a Seestar lately. While the device is amazing and produces surprisingly good subs, the background - gradient and edges - can be tricky to clean. Will try Normalize and the extended options.

Wow, Thank you so much. This is the most informative tutorial on DBE I have found. Like the rest of your videos I have come out knowing so much more. I will highly recommend your that everyone watches this and I hope after has the same learning experience as me …. Thank you again for your time and effort. Clear skies from Brian Nova Scotia.👍

/bow .. thank you for deep explanation of this tool. Never knew there is anything like circular/linear selection of points :)

That last part is well described in Adam Block’s video. He showed more complex situations than yours.

Great video and lots of useful information. I guess you can spend hours playing with the settings. One question, is it a good idea to run another DBE if the first didn’t remove the issue, or is it best to just do one run? How about a second run with different sample points? I am not talking about doing a division then subtraction. Thanks, and a good series of videos.
@viewintospace
@viewintospace Год назад
Thanks! Sure, it can and should be done iteratively like stretching. So attacking for example first the vignetting and then a general gradient makes a lot of sense. If you approach each run as a individual task to remove a specific part and adjust the settings based on it, no harm can be done - it might even be much less destructive than trying with overly aggressive settings to remove everything at once.

What about doing DBE after doing it starless (unstretched)
@viewintospace
@viewintospace Год назад
This is in fact how I do it. I do the star removal as the very first step in my workflow, and all other steps incl. DBE afterwards with the stars already removed. I believe the less complexity a picture has, the better DBE runs - and stars surely are an additional complexity.
@Calzune
@Calzune Год назад
@@viewintospace i agree! But are there any downsides doing it? If not, why does i never see this on youtube?😅
@viewintospace
@viewintospace Год назад
@@Calzune I do not see any downsides. Even Russ writes in his instructions to STX: "Use StarXTerminator as early in the processing flow as possible, ideally right after integration, with the data still in a linear state". If you have not seen it in YT, wait until I do a tutorial about star management (in pipeline) and you will see it ;-)

I don't recall you saying it - what is the normal POINT qty we need ?
@viewintospace
@viewintospace Год назад
I assume you mean SAMPLE qty. And the answer is 42 ;-) Again, there are no absolut answers and no magic numbers. As a rule of thump, the more complex the background issues are, the more samples you need to set so that DBE can calculate them out. So don't count - just put samples at every place where you feel it makes sense for the process to have this information.
@Claude_Astrophoto

@@viewintospace Yes that was the question !!!! Thanks ... keep the good work - I really appreciate what you are doing.
