As a helicopter pilot myself - only one thing I would have done differently…that pizza box would have been put on the left seat for easy consumption!! Love your videos brother!! Fly safe.
Fun, fun. At 71, with some health issues, I cannot pass the physical anymore. I hold fixed and rotor wing certs, and miss the helo most. I flew for 30 years, out here in the west. I loved canyon carving in an R44. I owned an old Cessna 172 for a while, but never could afford a helo. One of my favorite things about helo, as apposed to fixed wing flying, is when you gotta pee, lol. Thanks for sharing.
I was at the cliff walk mansions in Newport RI. And a helicopter landed in the backyard of a mansion...a guy jumped out a went to get his golf clubs out of the trunk of his Rolls..then took off again 💰
rant to OP- re piloting ... im had a friend join military. became an attack heli pilot. now he travels the world driving heli (maybe cargo), but it's not stable work, that's why the travel
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS BRO!! Im currently pursuing my CDL's & PPL's atm, and watching your videos just gets me more inspired to get in the air. Flying a helicopter for a pizza run and ending it with lunch on your own little private island? Now this man is LIVING !! Keep up the amazing content my brother , nothing but love and support from my end !!!
That is impressive! Here in Europe, in Germany, that would be unthinkable. There are so many rules and regulations here. Here, a helicopter is only allowed to land at aerodromes, with the exception of rescue helicopters. In Germany, it is generally forbidden to land outside of aerodromes. Under German law, there is a compulsory use of aerodromes. That's crazy. In the USA, there is still freedom. Best regards!
He gets permission from private land owners to land in their fields so it’s a little less free than it seems. He wouldn’t be able to do that without it.
There is sometimes freedom. There are tons of limits for national parks, national forests, wildlife areas, near critical infrastructure, in noise abatement areas, around animals, or crowds of people that complain, etc.
Beautiful views on a perfect sunny day! Your head band GoPro gives a great view of what you see as you do your observations. Really fun stuff and easy to watch because you have a really chilled approach to flying. Aviation is a real passion of mine. Keep up the great content! 👍
I had to chuckle when you put the pizza into the space below the seat. That's one way to keep the seat warm ... lol Doing errands in a helicopter looks like fun, but try to find a landing spot around your favorite store that isn't somebody's fiercely defended property...
"but try to find a landing spot around your favorite store that isn't somebody's fiercely defended property..." That might be easier than you think but, by way of complete transparency, The helicopters I flew the most sported badges and were labeled "Sheriff's Office."
I always thought it would be wild and funny if I hired someone like this to take me to work one day and land on the grass outside of the parking lot area as I get out and wave back to the pilot as he takes back to the sky, as I'm running back towards the building while my coworkers everywhere give me their astonished looks and want to know what's going on, as I just ignore and go passed them acting like it's no big deal.😅
No doubt you will be the reason helicopter instructors get booked all up in the next few months lol This is exactly what recreational general aviation is about going out enjoying the freedom of what u can do with the aircraft Id say bring a little tacklebox and a dockmaster pole beautiful fishing banks for sure on that bar
I am the chosen one (the first one and not bragging) I love your videos bro. And i'ma suggest a place you should go to. You should go to a Water park with your helicopter!
Great flying ,reminds me of people who have multiple exotic cars in there garage with a living room and bar enjoying cigars/drinks/food looking at there pride and joy ,good for you brother ,keep up the great videos. Could you do flying and talk about how became interested in flying helicopters and a little about costs/maintenance of owning one. Cheers and Blessing
You inspire me to get a helicopter or Cessna to myself and doing things that you do like you got pizza from it and you are a huge inspiration. Love ur videos! :)
Brother, your videos bring a very good experience, I don't miss any of them! I live in Brazil, and although it is much more difficult to have some things here, my biggest dream is to have a helicopter, and I have faith that one day I will get there.
grew up in STL. 1983 - whenever I left I can't remember 2005 maybe haha. Used to work at 1H0 (Creve Coeur) as a line boy. Now I live in Pittsburgh. I love your videos.
Cool! Is there any special permission you need other than from the property owner to land this anywhere? I'm guessing there's only a worry for noise pollution around housing areas, but it's pretty crazy to think how fun it would be hopping around in this thing!
That depends on the jurisdiction of the governmental in question. The city I live in prohibits the landing of any type of A/C within the city limits. I landed both rotary and fixed wing in that city but I'm pretty sure they would have cited me had I not been flying Sheriff's Office aircraft at the time.
Great video. You know, if you " run" as fast as you did with the pizza back to the getaway vehicle, you wouldn’t really need the "22". Heck even sounds like a helis rotors churning. 😂 Are you only certified with heli or can you fly fixed as well? Follow up if you can do both - what would you recommend doing as far as licensing procedures? I'd like to learn helis, but then I think I won't have the money to purchase one. So what do you do as far as flying once certified. It's not as easy as say with Cessna where you can rent almost anywhere to go flying for a few hours or what have you. Thank you. Be safe and have a great 2024 !! -- Matthew
Picking up pizza and taking it out to a giant sand bar in your private Helicopter to eat by the water, is this one of those rare instances of the American Dream?
and I'll add, too, has anyone ever approached, touched or got near yr helicopter whilst you were away? How do you approach them? And the ipad inside? We take it the doors are secure while yr on your errands?
Lived on Scott AFB 1988-91. Worked downtown St. Louis. Used to take my daughter to baseball and hockey games. Great and huge Zoo. Mid-west had nice farms to visit to buy fresh produce.
Do you ever fly down to table rock lake area, I think your by st Louis mo. How many flight hours do you put on copter before rebuilding or major service to your equipment great videos I'm subbed 👍🏼
👍HaHa :-) ..thanks for sharing Matt. ,,The sand-bank pizza : Epic scenery 👌 ..pizza hunger suddenly crept in on the other side of the pond, here in norway. ..Have nice upcoming weekend. (,,pls remember to take along heli.starter-keys after landings in urbanAreas. Just to avoid crazyIndivids trying some funkyIdeas)
As for the comment about going to the theater alone, I too do many things by myself as my free time may not mesh with anyone else's. In addition, if an outing is a spontanious decision you can't expect people to drop everything to satisfy your whim. Cheers.
Love your vids man, keep it on! By the way, I think you should put an e-scooter in your helicopter if it fits. That way you don't have to walk that long distances from where you park.
When I was a kid back in the 1970’s there was this magazine called Popular Mechanics and there was an ad for a RV helicopter it was so cool it had everything on it . The helicopter was the same one used by the president of the United States. At the time the price for helicopter was something like $340,000.00 dollars 😂😂 just think if the price was cheaper people would be comping anywhere they liked up in the mountains.
An old friend, who runs a helicopter service in Louisiana, was asked to do a freebe by the local sheriff's department and it wound up costing him a Bell 206 and some time in the hospital. Not cheap.
What model of helo is that you’re flying? Would love to fly again, just not from airports. Fixed wing is fun, but I’d like to try a whirlybird. Where do I get one like yours? Great videos by the way. Thanks for taking the time.
Hello, thanks for the awesome Helicopter videos. You were seen in your other video where you got the coffee that it’s cheaper to buy a Helicopter for Flight training and rent one. Could you tell us how much much it cost to buy one like this?
