LOL. Maestro has always been the charming diplomat. Having watched many hours of him being interviewed by various talk show hosts, esp in the 80s and 90s, it never failed to amaze me how many times he was asked: (1) about his weight (2) how does he handle ardent female fans (3) is the feud with Pavarotti real and (4) when will he stop singing. Like clockwork. He's a much more patient and tolerant man than I. I think the only talk show host of that era, who managed to ask just one of those canned questions, and then go on to make more interesting conversation with him was Merv Griffin. Of course, Griffin was a private gay man and I suspect he had a crush on him. Always a delight to see Don Placido navigate these guest spots so skillfully. Gracias Sacha!
UppityG Livestockian your right ! They often ask the same questions , it’s a shame because the Maestro is very cultivated and could explain things on the voice technique and Opera . Ok I’ll look up Merv Griffin ! I noticed Domingo got a great talent with languages : I heard him speak : French, Italian, English and maybe of bit of German ! Alejandro , tu inglés es muy bueno ! Donde he aprendido ?
@@Sacha_Kudli Muchisimas gracias, muy amable por decir eso. My parents insisted I learn English first, as I was the first First Generation American in my maternal side of the family. They left it up to me to choose to speak Spanish later. You are right, Don Placido is a natural polyglot and yes you have heard him speak a bit of German here and there. He tries his best to do so when he performs in Vienna, Berlin and Bonn, but basically doesn't need to anywhere else. It's wonderful to see you discovering more about him and enjoying the adventure. Hasta!
UppityG Livestockian ho that’s great ! Your completely bilingual! I am half French-half American. I live in France but my mother is American so I’m lucky to be a dual national .I speak English however due to my laziness lol , I’ve never taken the time to read or to write in English . This might sound corny but the maestro help because he motivates me . I say to myself: okay Domingo did it , if I’ll do like Domingo did for learning English, I can learn Spanish . It’s hard to explain but Maestro is the perfect person to take example on for realizing yours goals ! Thanks for the support Alejandro , take care !
@@Sacha_Kudli I agree! Just watching or listening to Domingo is incredibly motivating to me because of how talented and cultured he is, both musically and socially
@@micaylat8673 Totally ! He’s a magnificent example of successful career! Not only is he brilliant and a hard-worker in music but also very charismatic and so open minded .
