Technically, this is one of Placebo's most beautiful songs. It's painful for me to listen to right now. Getting better. But this is really gorgeous. Molko is so gifted.
Any band that can play Live and sound just as awesum as they do in the studio, is worth every penny spent on a ticket. This raw Live recording infront of a crowd up and in your face, like a pub gig, is bloody brilliantly done, Love yas, Placebo, past n present band members!!! :)
For five years I've been listening to an audio of this, believing it was recorded in a studio. How on earth can a live performance be so flawless?! Bravo!
Saw them live in Riga back in 2016 and was very happy, despite there was no that beautifully crafted song. Missing that times very much. Greetings from Kaliningrad!
I don't know about you, but seeing Steffan with a Bass always puts a smile in my face. I'm still not used to see him playing guitar in a lot of the songs nowadays.
Someone said "Oh shit", I guess one of the band members. Brian asked the French crowd "Are you allowed to say 'oh shit' on the radio?" Then the crowd cheered "Yes!" Brian (with a bit of irony): "Oh, i'm relieved..." Someone in the crowd: "We're a free country!" Brian: "come again?" "We're a free country!" "Oh really? ...with a president like yours?" *crowd applause* Brian: "Sorry Carla." (Carla Bruny, Nicolas Sarkozy's wife)
Elle est trop facile celle sur Sarko et Carla c'est la même sinon elle ne serait pas avec lui . D'ailleurs je me suis tjrs demandé ce qu'elle lui a trouvé. La tune 😁🤪🤫
On “Battle For The Sun” (2009), Placebo use a number of new instruments. Drummer Steve Forrest liked the way the horns were used. He explained : “That one, it becomes quite an ‘All You Need Is Love’-style Beatles-esque happy tune. It’s executed very well. They are not so much underneath everything but they are not over the top either. So, there’s good usage of a lot of horns, and there’s also a picolo trumpet and some flute on there.” Brian Molko was hoping the upbeat song would agitate the dour contingent of their fanbase. Bassist Stefan Olsdal stated : “Brian’s very proud of that one because he thinks it’s going to freak all the Goths out. That’s actually Brian’s MOTTO : ‘LET’S FREAK THE GOTHS OUT.’ We have always been seen as the purveyors of melancholy and luckily we have always had music to exorcise our demons.” 💜🎶💙
Always been a fan but since this. lockdown. I've became a super fan watching all their live gigs, hearing alsorts I never even knew. Having a crush on Brian, who is absulutly gorgeous with beautiful eyes. Also he's barely aged in years.you can tell as a band the lyrics are so alticulate. Brians unique vocals filled with pure emotion and passion. He defo is one of a kind. I never tire watching
Brian is just so f’ing adorable and alluring. I just want to crawl through my screen and touch his face. This song, this live version in particular, I love so much. I love the catchy ditty beginning at 3:04 and 3:49. Don’t you find their live versions of every song have such a deeper dimension and richness to them.
Since I left to live in Cambodia, my friend back home became a worse alcoholic and is now sitting in jail waiting out a possession charge. This song reminds me of him in so many ways. I remember always drunkenly asking when I’m coming home :( . Get it together Matt and I’ll see you again someday. I’m just as lost as you are.
Beautiful, I used to play this when I was lost. Now I've found myself in hell and out of my work. I am made one again, by remembering my toils, falling and silent begging. It's all over now, like a dream, the day is over. The elixir of life is truth by day (work) and pain by night (self).
"can we say oh shit on the radio ?" "Yeah ?" "Lucky for us... " then a girl in the crowd "it's a free country" "yeah ? with a president like yours ? *applause* "I'm sorry Carla.."
