It is about drugs AND love. And love with drugs, and suicide, and it is about the real story in his life. This story about the his ex-girl's suicide, when she wrote him these words: my sweet prince, you are the only one (well, I can't say the exact words, but the whole idea - he's the only). The story is rather dark, but he said some things about it. "We wrote 'My Sweet Prince' from an actual event, about one of my relationships that ended in a true tragedy. A guy the three of us were really close to nearly died. It was very hard, we were rather troubled by this. Because we had this very strong feeling in us, this song came out of nowhere. From our guts. I have a very strong link with this song. I have not seen anyone post the real meaning behind this song. Yes it is about heroine and love , but there is a story behind it which makes it the saddest song i know.
He’s talking about the amount of lovers that “sing this song into each other” without knowing what it was actually saying. Brian has said many times the lyrics talk about love and heroine, he was romantically involved with someone and both were really into heroine by the time, in an attempt to get away from drugs he broke up the relationship, then his lover tried to commit suicide. Brian used the line “My sweet prince” because this was the way his partner used to call him (even writting it on a mirror), I guess Brian found it romantic and then felt it very touching while he was dealing with breakup and almost suicide at the time.
