Here is a story about Valerie, who was adopted when she was 14 years old from foster care. In her senior year of high school, she became pregnant and placed her baby girl for adoption. Her story is heartfelt, with a unique perspective on adoption; because she is a part of two sides - an adoptee and first mother.
Don't miss my my other foster care and adoption series, Kindred, Kismet, Surrendered and Beyond Biological, as well as my two Korean International documentaries, "YoonMee: Beyond Korea" and "Happy Girl".

This story breaks my heart💔 if she would have had one person, just one, who had her back the story would be different.

I’m having such a hard time with her story. My heart is broken for her. I hate that she felt forced to put her daughter up for adoption. I’m very happy for her sake and the sake of her daughter that things seem to work out. Her story is similar to mine in some respects. I wish her and her family wel

It’s difficult all around. If she could take care of her daughter…that’s one thing. The hard part is that her mother never signed up to take care of a grandchild. The birth mom did the right thing for her daughter. The open adoption is good as well. Her daughter will always know that she is very loved.
