Placemat and Coaster Set Using Addi Egg ~ Addi, Sentro, Circular Knitting

One skein, many looks!
These placemat and coaster sets are easy and fun to make and we get to use our Addi Egg! Yay!
Using one ball of Caron Latte cakes we can make placemats that look different but that all coordinate so they look great on your table!
I love them a lot!! SERIOUSLY!!

Shelley, you mentioned that you you learned that a salad spinner works great to let the yarn fall into. Would you please explain how you get it started to spin.... What do you do with the weight when using the spinner?

Lol! You don’t manually get it to spin. As the project falls into it and you continuing to rotate your machine as you knit, it automatically turns so your work doesn’t get all tangled and stretched.

How did you get a bulky 5 to work in the egg? I have problems with super saver 4.

It’s only a bulky 5 because it has little flecky things. This yarn works awesome in all the machines. Check out my channel for the one skein scarf and beanie. I use this yarn and it’s gorgeous. Super Saver Yarn is a beast in the machines. It is too course. It doesn’t work because of the texture of the yarn, not the weight.

This yarn feels more like a 3 than a 5 because the base of the yarn Is quite thin, but it has hairs that stick out which make it qualify as a 5. I have approximately half of my 1st mat through the egg, and it is working fine !

You should try it with yarn it loves. This yarn is great. Also 3 weight.

No!!! Dont cast off!!!!!! Just cut where you want and bind off the cut edge. Leave the excess on the egg and continue cranking for the next tube.

Why all the “!!!!” ? Not sure what you mean and what section your talking about. What’s wrong with binding off before I start a new tube?

@@koalaknitsandknacksaddicrochet Sorry, I was just excited to pass the info... Rather than cast off the egg, Lets say you only needed 170 inches but made 190 inches, just leave the yarn on the needles and cut the cord where you want the length, in this case 170+ inches (add a row or 2 for bind off). Put the egg w the extra yarn on it aside. Then unravel enough rows to do the bind off that you ultimately did. By leaving the extra length on the egg you avoid the slow cast on process to make the next item. 😄
