@gut viol, To be honest with you, I do not know what that vessel/jar/pot is made of and what that is for. There was no curator around to ask for info when I was there. As I saw it, it looked like a porcelain jar. I can only suppose it’s a jar for drinking water on the table. And you are correct; it is indeed beautiful with a touch of elegance and symbol of status having that kind of dining ware in the early days. Happy new year, and God Bless!
