Placido Domingo sings "All I ask of You" from Phantom of the Opera Lloyd Webber-Hart-Stilgoe) Rebecca Luker, Special Guest The London Symphony Orchestra Eugene Kohn, conductor
I long to serve the Lord in greater simplicity. This song reminds me that God does not ask anything more than my heart, which He will fill with grace so that I may bring hope and joy to others.
Never forget seeing Placido and Andrew Lloyd Webber together on a UK chat show just as the original Phantom concept album was released-before the stage show was thought of. Lloyd Webber said he had always wanted Domingo to sing The Phantom but at the time Placido was unable to commit to a long running stage performance. Have always dreamed of 'what might have been' as good as Michael Crawford was-Domingo as Phantom would have been absolutely out of this world.
The problem is not only the schedule. If Domingo played the Phantom, who was going to replace him? It's almost impossible to find someone who can sing at his level in the musical theatre world.
