I do love these planning sessions to get some insight from you as a seasoned pro. I struggle with ideas when I need a card and I've been really sparse in my card making over the past few years, (it takes me like 2 weeks to make one). Your videos are helping me so much. I would love to see more videos using some "older" products so we can stretch our dollars a bit more even though I already substitute and use what I already have when I turn to your videos for color instruction and inspiration.
Of course we want hauls, and coloring, and planning…..we want it all!! 😂 You’re incredibly talented and I love watching the “vision” crafters have when looking at various stamp sets. Using old stamps is perfectly fine! I think so many RU-vidrs focus on a “ one and done” mentality and then it’s time to move on to the next set. And in reality, we invest too much money in a stamp and die set to only use it a time or two…..or in some cases, never. Collecting is a hobby all on its own😂😂! Great card and can’t wait to see what you come up with next ❤❤❤❤
Aw, thank you! I am so glad you enjoy all that content. That’s really helpful to know. I’ve always had a rule for myself that I need to have at least three ideas for a stamp set before I will purchase it. I did get a bit away from that for a while but I’m going back to it now, because I do think it helps me make better choices with my purchases. I definitely do think that older products still deserve love, but every once in a while it’s okay to also pick up a few new things to reinspire you!☺️
These are great videos. A limited color pallete is something I strive for then it ends up being a rainbow. I need to remember these kind of color palettes, and be like you knowing I can add in necessities like your water and sand.
Nothing wrong with a rainbow color palette! I love those too. But sometimes it’s nice to use a limited one because it forces you to think outside the box and not just reach for your go to shades. It’s a fun challenge!😊
Hi Christy, I don't mind which stamp sets you use,- retired or current. I enjoy watching the card planning process, the colouring of the background and the stamped images. Looking forward to seeing how this card turns out!
Love watching your thought process. Can’t wait to watch the making of this card. I’d love to see a card with the other stamp set as well as what you picked up.
Love seeing the your thought process and found this one really interesting as don’t use the patterned paper as much. It baffles me sometimes when choosing colours, just getting the right shade. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your knowledge much appreciated.
Your videos are always so inspiring. No matter what stamp set you use. I completely understand that maybe using a retired set isn’t appreciated from everyone but the process of building and colouring is always worth it. Thank you!! I’m looking forward to see the finished card 🤩
Love this! 😊 I'm creating flip calendars for Christmas gifts. I did a strawberry theme last year for August. But this time, I want to do an ocean setting. I have a couple of stamp sets that I can use, including a sea turtle. Your color pallette should work perfect! I love A2 size cards, but I am a fan of slimline and 5 x 5 size, too. I do love a square card. Sometimes I want to include several images and a square card or a 5 x 7 will be perfect. I know it costs more to mail, but that's fine. I have been trying to limit my purchases, too. Mainly, because I have sooo much stuff! And prices keep going up...on everything! I used to buy enough to qualify for free shipping. But most companies want you to spend $100 or more. Thanks so much for giving me my color combo! 🩵🧡🩷💙💛 ~Suzy
Your calendars sound like such a fun project! I stick mainly to A2 sized cards because I sell them at work and those are the size that I have the packaging for. I’ve struggled a lot with finding clear cello packaging for slimline, mini slimline, and square cards so I usually make them with someone I know in mind that I can mail or hand deliver it too. I hear you on the smaller orders. The free shipping minimum is usually set too high for my budget. The exception would be Lawn Fawn, since I’m on their team, I need more product so I do usually qualify. Everywhere else, I’d have to spend more than I’m able to in order to qualify so I have just come to factor the shipping costs into my budget. Often that means I have to remove something from my cart to stick to the amount I am willing to spend, but that’s okay. As much as we wish we could get it all, it just means we’ll have to be more resourceful with the products we do pick.☺️
Love your planning videos. Even if I don’t own the sets it’s inspiring to see and think of how I can use my stamps that are in a similar style. Your haul videos are fun to watch. I take notes of your color blends for when I’m stumped on what blends well. Thanks for sharing everything you do!
What a fun series!! I really love this and think that this is such a good series and is so useful. These Sunny Studios images are super cute. I can see your dilemma, the Sunny Studios was a good pick, Mama Elephant would be a good choice and another one could be this series using older stamp sets, I dont know that I see a problem with using retired sets and retired companies, unless you get a kickback but I dont see this as being an issue of yours. If you dont feel like that is a viable option, which it sounds like, then it feels like your options are more limited. I hope you are able to keep this series going because it is super fun and useful. I love this series and find it so unique and informative. You could do Lawn Fawn with cards you aren't going to be doing challenges with, unless that is too time consuming. However you decide to address this issue, I know that you will find the best solution. Also, you should show your haul, it would be fun and interesting to see what you got, even if its small. I feel like times are tough for all of us and I think we are all having to tighten our belts and make do with what we've got or else not get very much. It's just too expensive to get as much as in the past and there is only so much space in my craftroom. You are an amazing creator and I love everything you do. Thank you for everything you do. You are so talented and creative. Have a wonderful week!! Sending big hugs and lots of love!!!
Thank you so much, Rose! I do so appreciate your insights always. The other problem with using retired products in a video is that the companies aren’t really keen on you promoting product that they’ve made the difficult decision to no longer carry. While it’s fine to use them for your own personal cards, it’s another thing to have them being promoted on RU-vid. But anyway, I do value your opinion greatly and so appreciate you taking time to watch and comment! Have a wonderful week, my friend!🥰
I love the summer scenes!! I think the sharks fin is screaming for a cupcake as well as the lobster lol could be same cupcake but colored differently!! Love your videos Christy thank you for all your inspiration. Do you know when Hello Bluebird will be mailing the new kits? I ordered the extended kit July 23 on release day, and have not heard any shipping, I contacted them and no response 😔
Those are some super fun ideas! I hope you’ve gotten your kit by now. I haven’t heard anything from them in a while, so I assume they’re still chugging along with orders.🙂
@@christygetscrafty I did get the stamps this past week, almost a month later and had I known it was going to take that long I would not have cared at all. I understand all about small businesses but I didn’t know I had a vacation the second week of aug I was hoping to make some cards from the set, unfortunately since I didn’t have I wasn’t able to do. But nonetheless I do have them now and super excited to play with them just now have to make the time .. have a great day Christy ❤️
I actually don’t currently own a printer, so digital stamps aren’t an option for me until I get a new one. My old one broke about two years ago and I’ve just been managing without it ever since. But they are definitely an affordable alternative if you do have a printer.🙂
What if you released the Plan a card with me video shortly after the video on the lawn fawn channel is released? It'd be a way to cross-promote, right? Like "If you want to see how I came up with the concept, visit my channel"/"Go to the lawn fawn channel to see the card being made!". No idea how these things work, I abandoned the RU-vid game years ago 😂 Also, I don't see an issue with you not showing tons of new products. It makes me happy to see that your stamps are discolored from being used so much. THAT is relatable to the average consumer. I understand that a creator on RU-vid has to do certain things, I just don't always agree with them. Definitely not tired of summer/tropical/ocean cards yet!!
Thanks for weighing in! I’m not sure that anyone would want to watch a planning of a card after the finished product is already revealed but maybe? I’ll give it some thought. And yeah, RU-vid is a complicated thing to navigate. As much as I would love to keep using my retired products, every time I have in the past I’ve got questions about people wanting to purchase those items and they’re no longer available, so it makes it difficult. Not only that, but companies don’t really want you promoting products they no longer carry. It’s totally fine to continue to use them for your personal use, but promoting them on a platform like RU-vid is a bit different. Lots to consider. Anyway, thanks so much for watching! I appreciate your thoughts!😊
@@christygetscrafty I feel like it might still have value even for those that saw the finished card on the lawn fawn channel. Not sure though. Sometimes it's difficult to predict how much something would interest me until I actually get to experience it. All very valid points. I completely understand that even if something has value vor a bunch of viewers, it might not be worth it long term. My hat is off to everyone who navigates the RU-vid swamp!
