As a Latina, the first time I watched "Encanto", I cried so much, the meaning of the movie hit close to home. It made me want to grow my relationship with my parents.

Why would a teacher do that? I'm a teacher now, and I can't find a reason why a teacher would discourage someone from doodling. I love grading papers that have doodles all over. Some of them are really cool, and I even comment on how much I like their drawings/doodles. I also try to write the grade in the little blank spaces they leave so I don't ruin their doodles.

@@Nickilob2006 I once had that too, we had like 30 minutes left for the test but weren’t allowed to leave so I just started drawing on the back of my second paper (it was empty) until it was full then I switched to the front where it was empty and filled that up as well (with a little note at the bottom to turn the page for more)

Have you noticed how the embroideries on mirabels dress represent the love for her family? Every embroidery stands for each one of her family members. Animals for Antonio, a rainbow and sun for Pepa, flowers for Isabela, a candle for Abuela, there’s a healing hand on there for her mom, a camelion for Camilo, a weight for Luisa and there’s an ear for Dolores.

Let us in" I'm crying 😭 this movie is so good 🥺 anyway I relate a lot with Bruno and Luisa, I struggle to explain myself to others, even if my intentions are good I often feel misunderstood, and like just "existing" is not enough to be "worthy", so I'm always overdoing, because if I'm not useful, what am I for?

Hey Amanda!! Just wanted to say that YES, Mirabel _does_ sew her own dress and bag. In the beginning of the movie you can see Mirabel taking her dress of the seeing machine and wearing it :)

Since you asked, I relate to Abuela the most. Simply because I was left with raising two children on my own and have always had to remain strong for my kids and keep it together for them. I had years of PTSD from the quickness my marriage ended (in 1 day), and felt I needed to expect my kids to rely on their gifts to help me through life, which was unfair to them. I have learned so much being on my own. As time goes on, know I was a cocoon and am now a butterfly. 🦋

Fun fact for you Amanda, to do with the little patterns etc on Mirabels dress, she actually had a little representation of everyone's powers on her dress... The butterfly on her dress represents that she is the candle, she is the one that brings everyone back together & gives everyone a miracle, just like the candle, the candle also has a butterfly on it as well

I never enjoyed coloured pencils until I got a soft white pencil/ burnish pencil and went over everything with it. It really helps blend the colours together and gets rid of that grainy look. You just lay down your colours (don't press very hard) then go over with a heavy hand with the white. A great set is the Derwent Inktense pencils set :)

Oh man this was so nice it watch, it really looks like Mirabel might've been embellishing your notebook. Also, Encanto is such a beautiful and emotional movie and it hit me in the feels big time. I bawled almost the whole movie the first time and cried at the end the second because this was such a well done depiction of a family. More than a little dysfunctional, but a loving family.

I watched the movie twice with my twin sister. It’s just wonderful and the music is catchy. Also my favourite characters are Dolores and Bruno. Isabela is also interesting, I struggled with her first, but now I think that she is well made by the producers. 🌸🌺🌼

I'm one of them who only watches for fun. I have a vision that in the future I'll be able to do bullet journaling of my own, but at the moment I don't have the energy, creativity nor self confidence to even try due to being burnt out and depressed. When I was watching Encanto in December for the first time when surface pressure came up I immediately thought how similar Luisa is to my Older brother and how strong he acts around everyone and never really cry or let him self feel vulnerable. I like many others in the movie theatre was definitely crying or relating to at least on family member from the Madrigal Family

Ahhhh I love it, my go to movie at the movie when ever I'm feeling down-I believe she did embroider her own clothes there is a scene in the beginning where she removes clothes from her sewing machine and puts them on. Thanx for your videos I've been watching for 4 years and touched on the idea of Bullet journaling in January, I'm looking forward to go on and maybe use this idea ❤

The February page of my reading journal is also inspired by Encanto 😄. I really love that film. It hit home because I have social anxiety, especially the scene with the family photo (I experienced something like that last summer although with friends not family). Have a nice day and stay positive!

This theme reminds me of how my 7/8th grade notebooks always looked and I LOVE IT!!! I got bored a lot in class so I would take out my colored pencils and just doodled all the edges of my notebooks 💜

I bujo but not really similarly to what you do. I don't really draw or do a lot of different kinds of spreads. But I still love to watch your videos for occasional inspiration when you do something I could incorporate and for how you talk through every layout and just about your life. Your videos are so calming and fun at the same time and I love it, even if my journal doesn't look like yours.

I think I’m in the minority who didn’t like the movie so much, but we can’t deny that the animation and visuals are stunning and you did a great job translating that to the page. i think the colored pencils are the perfect art supply for this! So lovely! side note: i got one of the ARL store notebooks for my next journal and im so excited to use it starting march!
