Near the climax of the Tod Browning-directed The Unknown is an intense scene where Lon Chaney as Alonzo realizes that Nanon, the woman he loves and had his arms surgically removed for, loves another man. He then contorts his face and emotions to reflect his deep anguish, disappointment and homicidal anger.
