I went to Copenhagen Last week because I wanted to to test to film a little behind the scenes. It was pretty tricky but here you have the result.
Please leave me a comment telling me what you think and what I should do different next time.
Thanks for Watching! I hope you'll like the video shot this Vlog, as you can see the weather wasn't close to beautiful and

Great upload! It's always interesting to see how videographers capture their aviation content. On your next "Behind the Scenes", maybe show how you choose a prime spot for shooting and what you recommend for an optimal location. #Aviation #PlaneSpotting

Great Behind the scenes video. Many times in your editing I get the sense that you have an assistant. You seamlessly put together different scenes and blend into a single production. This is especially true of your St Marten shots. Good Job! Love your videos!

Hi! I enjoyed your behind the scenes look! Have you ever considered (or are allowed to) mounting your rigs on a aluminum ladder? That would take the fence out of the equation. You might get vibration or wind-induced shaking, but perhaps could weight it down with yourself or sandbags, etc. Nice work!
@NorthernAviation
@NorthernAviation 10 лет назад
How to you keep the fence out of the shot?
@DomesticFelon
@DomesticFelon 10 лет назад
That is a very inpressive Question
@AlexS3800
@AlexS3800 10 лет назад
With the long focal distance (up to 1000mm he said) and the fence being so close to the cam, it is so extremely out of focus depth that it remains unnoticed in the image. There might be some greyish bokeh or some lost detail still vissible in the image but nothing that would really disturb. To the videographer: Great video work as always! Keep them coming.
@Wonkabar007
@Wonkabar007 10 лет назад
AlexS3800 But when the camcorder is fully zoomed, its almost equal to the 1000mm, but the fence still shows up, this is strange ?
@AlexS3800
@AlexS3800 10 лет назад
Wonkabar007 Depth of field depends mainly on two factors: 1. Focal distance 2. Sensor size The longer the focal length and the larger the sensor, the smaller your depth of field. Let's compare the two gears he's using: 1. Focal length of the DSLR-gear: 1,000mm Focal length (max.) of the AG-AC160: 616mm 2. Sensor size of the a57: 1.07" Sensor of the AG-AC160: a tiny 1/3" (0,24" useable I think) And herre it's the sensor that makes the difference. The larger your sensor, the less impact has an object (like a fence) that is inbetween the cam and the object you focus on.
@Wonkabar007
@Wonkabar007 10 лет назад
AlexS3800 Thankyou for this detailed explanation, the sensor size info is especially interesting.

i always wondered why you couldn't see the fence. i thought you had got special access into the airport! but anyways great video- if i tried it would probably suck. possibly because i always talk when filming takeoffs and landings from inside the plane and i call out speeds and altitude along with all the other things pilots say during take off and landing. :D

Hi! Very nice to see the enthusiast on the other end of the camera, and the type of equipment you use! It works well :) Are you able to extend the tripod legs another 0.5m so you can shoot above the fence, but below the barbed wire that is common at most airports? I've seen another local photographer do this, with the aid of a smallish step-ladder that he can straddle, as a seat, or perhaps a small platform to stand on? - I'm sure the clarity of the video would be greatly improved. Keep up the great work!

Thanks so much for your video! :-) I have a question for you and i would love if you could help me. I am using a nikon d5200 with a sigma 150-500 and a kenko 2x converter. The biggest problem for me is finding the focus for a moving aim (aircraft) if i am standing in line with the runway. Imagine you are spotting in-line with the runway. Now an aircraft is landing and i don't have to move my camera, but i always have to adjust the focus. The plane is coming in my sight 500m away frome me, touchdown is 1000m away and the plane leaving the runway is 2500m away. How would you focus that manually? I tried a lot of things like: - closing the aperture to approx "40" to have a high focus depth in order to set the focus only one time at the beginning. The result was a quite decreasing image quality even if the focus problem became a bit better. - Adjusting the focus manually as the plane is moving that is so difficult because it is hard to see at a 3 inch display (or viewfinder) if the focus is right or not, especially if you have a moving aim - the autofocus doesn't work because of the converter Do you have a good method to do it? Thank you for your answer and all your awesome videos.

I think he lives in Småland, Sweden. CPH is the closest airport with a reasonable amount of traffic, he has some videos from Landvetter (Gothenburg, the airport that a Norwegian aircraft landed at after a bomb threat a few days ago) and Axamo (Jönköping) which are the airports with aircraft like Boeings and Airbuses closest to where he lives.

Really good VLog. I enjoyed watching so much! Now, I couldn't possibly do it any better, but if I had to name one thing you could improve, it would be the cuts in the middle of some of your sentences. I guess CPH being a very busy airport was to blame for that or maybe you simply didn't want to do it all over again ... I don't know ;) Anyway, great work! Big Like from me and keep it up!!!

Thanks for making your experiences available for people from far away and very nice videos too..! You seem to move freely everywhere over there, which brings me to the following comment if I may...These are; "Confessions of a Bird Watcher" Most of my weekends was spent on driving around in the Phoenix, Arizona local airports, sitting on my folding chair with my binoculars and my favorite music playing in my car stereo, just having the simple pleasure of watching airplanes take off and land. I have done that for years ! even the locals knew me. They used to call me: "..Hey Birdman..!" Until some coward decided to carry little explosives in the in-soles of his shoes while travelling by plane...Then I began to be apprehended by either the regular police or the airport police because " I LOOKED SUSPICIOUS"..(wtf!!??) every time I went to do some 'spotting' of my own...after extensive searches; I was held handcuffed, and leaning against the hood of the police car in the scorching heat, without even being able to stand straight, while under the watchful eyes of the policemen, until they received word from the 'Big Brother" that I was just a normal person with NO criminal records...A couple of times; my binoculars were taken away and there were never returned...Knowing ahead of time, what was going to happen, one day I brought a set of kid's 'dummy' binoculars, that had the eye pieces blocked with plastic, and they also took them away, when I was searched; without even checking them; at least to see if they were real; they just tossed them on the back seat of their police cruiser!! I began to hate the ordeal and decided to end my career as a birdwatcher.I will confess that the latter times I did it; it was a for mere challenge and to be able to show everybody that I was not a criminal and that I still held the liberty of standing, even miles away from any airport and still watch the airplanes fly in the air so free and so majestically....But at the end, they won...my liberty was actually being taken away by some remote "towel-head idiot" controlling the destiny of this once great country from a cave located in "Google-Earth" somewhere on the other side of the world... Long live the birdwacthers...!! Thanks....MG
