The scary part is that they said they didn't notice the longer takeoff roll, double that of normal, very lucky that thing thing didn't break up and become a torch.

Lack of imagination is why there was no light or auditory sound for an engaged e break as well as why it wasnt on the check list. As we've created humans with less common sense you've seen these things added to newer generation planes.

@@Lappillainen still not making sense, sorry. Once you are airborne wheels do not affect airworthiness anymore (parking brakes do not apply). "AFAIK"...
@jerrycallo
@jerrycallo 2 месяца назад
@@SinergiaAlUnisono brakes on the gear will not allow the plane to rotate it creates a torque force that pushes the nose down. Have to have speed and attitude to lift off, not just speed. It was never airborne so the wheel brakes do matter, not so much for speed but it prevented the plane from rotating to the proper attitude.

There are a lot of observations that don't make sense in this crash. If the plane reaches rotation speed while still on the runway (even with the parking brake "on"), it should be able to rotate and depart the runway and fly OK. On the video the plane reaches rotation speed before it has used up all the runway. Once the plane leaves the ground, the setting of the parking brake is irrelevant. The plane should be able to climb and fly OK. Something else must have caused this accident. This does not minimize the error of two experienced pilots who failed to release the parking brake.

Pilot's experience alone should have enough for them to realize that the acceleration rate was way off. They were too complacent with their jobs and flying such an easy aircraft . They destroyed a perfectly good aircraft because of their lax attitudes toward being professionals. Hope they found employment in another line of work.

It is lucky he did not rotate it would have resulted in the catastrophic pitch-up, the typical outcome for taking off with ones brakes still on.

Why did the drag on the wheels prevent rotation if the aircraft was at the rotation speed? Rotation is a function of airspeed across the stab.

My best guess is that the brakes cause enough downward force on the nosewheel that that elevators weren't able to overcome it.

Rather than engage in the "holier than thou" type of comment, I would just like to know why, even with this parking brake on, that the aircraft would not rotate when they passed V1 and achieved rotate speed that the aircraft would not lift off? Seems to me it should have, and then it would have accelerated once the wheels were free of the runway.
