Didn’t do it for Honda, but for another jdm manufacturer and it’s not complicated or hard. The tech is stumbling over his words trying to make it sound more complicated than it is. You set up the sensor key a certain distance from the vehicle(given by the manufacturer) and plug in your obd2 tool and run the program and follow the steps on the program and you’re basically done besides test driving
If you have comprehensive coverage and the windshield costs about the price of your deductible, insurance pays for the calibration basically, hope that helps
My dealership is telling me they can’t calibrate my camera that they installed. They’re telling me that because the windshield is not OEM, that the camera won’t work. I bought this pilot Certified Used from this same dealership with the non-OEM windshield, and the camera worked in the vehicle for six months after I bought it.
I am going through the same thing. They charged me $175 to tell me the camera had an issue after I brought it in after seeing a strange dashboard light. Didn't even open up the compartment to take a look. Autozone could have gave me the same code for free!!!! :-) BTW all these windows (OEM or not) are pretty much made by Pilkington or some other manufacturer. Same thing with the camera brackets. That's a BS excuse by the dealer IMHO!!!!
Sorry buddy but you are incorrect with your “facts”. Calibration can be performed by an experienced professional that is NOT a dealership employee. Yes, the measurements need to be exact. They wouldn’t sell $35,000 worth of ADAS equipment otherwise.
