I loved Dennings' Planetary Magic, it's a great system that's different from other ceremonial ones, a great stand alone. If you want to learn more about the nature and essence of each planet, books about astrology are probably a better bet!
Thanks for the reviews Olivia! D= Venus first & foremost is our values (2nd house), so I'd definitely go to her before Jupiter if you're attempting to gain money. Jupiter is mostly going to bring expansion & experiences -> wisdom. If you're not really feeling astrology, perhaps look closer at your aspects & the decans your main 3 are in. For example a late degree Aries has Sagittarius/Jupiter influence, while a mid degree Aries is more Leo like. Once you know the archetypes you're able to pick up others energy rather quickly 😅 then you realize it's in literally everything & things like a post on FB normally corresponds with the daily energy xD it's wild. I know the trippiest thing for me was realizing that the majority of my favorite musicians, artist, RU-vidrs, Podcasters, etc all have Aries moon. I'm just like nooo make it stop xD you recognizing your energy in others and end up getting drawn to it 🤣
@@jessicarangel3436 if you're interested in finances I would look at which house Venus is located in & what aspects are being made to it. Then what's going on in your 2nd, 6th, 8th, & 10th house. An overview of your whole chart will tell you what's going on overall, rather than looking at one placement. With Venus in the Taurus it does indicate that you value monetary goods, comfort, and stability. Money may come through slow and steady growth, but say your Venus had a lot of squares or oppositions you may struggle with finances much more than someone with a lot of sextiles or trines.
@@jessicarangel3436 you can try astro-charts to look at your chart & see which aspects you have. You can Google astrology/aspect symbols to help you read your chart or find a video on how to read a natal chart. You can also watch RU-vid videos on something like Venus in 'whichever' house. Otherwise it's a lot of studying. The fastest way would be to buy a natal chart reading from someone. Astrology can take a long time to really understand, so going to a professional & paying ~120$ is often worth the money. If you do go to a professional, ask about your financial houses house lords to get a better idea on how you can make money.
Learning how to use the planets..along with the cycles of the moon and planetary hours really makes a difference. You can never have to many correspondences in my opinion. Great video...loved it
Just wanna say it kinda sucks butt that I have to hide everything from my husband & kids. I was able to get him to understand what tarot really is for & he is very open minded to a point. Like I wanted chickens Took me a year to get them cuz he believed they would just make us sick. Love my freaking chickens! So anyways sorry...it’s like books are the hardest to get! If I order anything he sees it & it’s like uhhhh. Or I’m just too scared to try. I did order yours tho...& I had have the RWS deck but It is a very happy kind & gentle & helpful deck. I needed something more in a way....Thank God Penny Dreadful’s 2nd season has Santa Muerte! We watch the show so I was able to sneak in getting the Santa Muerte Tarot! I’m so excited! I really also want the dark mansion. I would only be reading for fam & close friends & mostly myself. But books are so important but it’s hard to find any that u know will have enough or any of what u need. Also money is tight of course so I can’t just keep buying trying to find shit that will help me as a beginner that’s actually for beginners. I need juicy books! I don’t know why that keeps popping up in my mind but yeah...juicy books!

Just letting you know: In zodiac tarot (at least how I've learned it, and I'll be happy to get other info if other people know differently), The Moon card actually doesn't represent our moon. Our moon is actually represented by the High Priestess card. The Moon tarot card represents the constellation Pisces instead. And again, if other people know different, I would be happy to do more research. I was just researching this last night and thought you might find that tidbit interesting!

So as I’ve been reading through the AO, it says that the timing doesn’t matter as much in regards to magic. This makes me wonder if because the planets do represent deities, do we actually (in a very simple sense) invoke the gods and goddesses to tap into their energy? Thoughts?

I thought this was gonna be a book about manipulating the actual planets and cosmos, which would have been dope. Imagine what you could do if you could increase the moon's mass by even one percent, or changing the axial tilt of the Earth.

If you read discoverie of witchcraft by reginalt scott it tells you how to bee a witch but you need the 1588 version has it has the missing pages in it. By forbiden press. Its not easy to read as its written in old english. The version written by montague summers in the 1930s, does not have the missing chapters.

Wicca: a guide for the solitary practitioner by Scott Cunningham is commonly recommended and I agree. What Witches Do by Stewart Farrar is like a mini encyclopaedia. You won't hear much about the second but it is really good. Drawing Down the Moon by Margot Adler is all about the people and various groups who do/did modern paganism, really helps you know who is who when you see people referenced by others. Also helps you understand why we are drawn to witchery. Anything by Doreen Valiente. Anything by Janet and Stewart Farrar. Ignore The Witches Bible for now, it just is a script of ceremonies for existing groups that follow Wiccan rites. I never got any value out of it. Most of the above equate witch with Wiccan, but you don't have to be one to be the other. It's just because they're older and it took a few decades for the two terms to mean something separate. Rune Soup is a good podcast/blog. Lucky Mojo by cat yronwood is good too. CN Beyer is a good online resource and you should read up on her site. And finally learn some form of divination to start off. Learn to cleanse, clear and protect yourself and your home. Remember to call in positive energies when you banish negative energies or the negative will rush right back in. Be aware that toxic people use local magical communities too. And don't use magic/energy when you can just use some elbow grease, you'll wear yourself out. Use common sense basically :)
The book talking about "Should you do this spell" sounds so interesting to me.. because sometimes it takes me WEEKS to work a spell. Like I have to build the whole nursery for my new work. Lol

I like what you mentioned about how the book went over the different contexts and uses for different energies (Venus isn't just for love, etc). I think of it like this: say you're trying to do a spell of protection to keep someone from bullying your little sister. You're using a reference book that says to use a clove of garlic for the spell, which is associate with protection, but all you have is an apple, a symbol of love and fertility. The tools in your spell obviously don't matter as much as your intention, but you can *shape* your intention around the *energy* of your components. Your love for your sister could be manifested by/represented by that apple in your spell. You call on the love represented in that apple to manifest around your sister and protect her. It's still a protection spell, but you're sort of directing the energy represented by the components in the way you want them to go. It's a tactic I've found helpful while quarantined with my very Christian family, have access to limited supplies.

Excellent review! This book reminds me of Scott Cunningham’s Wicca collection of writings. He’s specific and also gives the reader / student options. I’m not Wiccan myself, but I enjoy his style of writing and emphasis on diverse spell castings ingredients for each applied herb or substitute.
Yes I’m reading his books now and he explains everything with the right amount of simplicity! He also includes his book of shadows and so much information for somewhere to get started, with emphasis on making it personal to you. His style of writing is so calming, too.

My mom found my book of shadows and told me that if I wanted to study somthing I should study the bible. To be honest that kind of hurt and made me stop for a couple of weeks but now I'm back!
It's funny because I started from the Planetary Magick book (from total zero, and I haven't finished it). I tried ONE spell, almost just "for the kicks" (but for a kinda serious reason)... and it worked. XD I'll study the book better one day.

I like your book review, I just wish there was a synopsis of what Planetary Magic is to begin with. I have used planetary energy, but I had never considered it as "planetary magic", so I thought this was approaching a subject to which I was unfamiliar. In the midst of the quarantine and shut-in situations all around the globe, how are you staying so beautifully fit and radiant as ever? No, this isn't a cheap pickup line lol. I'm asking bc I'm not able to go to a gym, my neighbors are creepers so there's no working out outside, such as shimmying up a small tree to try pole dancing. Plus it's still too cold bc I live in central NY. I'm a nurse, and I only go to work and straight home to shower lol. Sorry if that's TMI. Anyway, I'm frustrated and tired of the feeling that the walls are closing in on my plumping ass! Warm weather better hurry up. Weirdest thing ive done with the planets, I once used Jupiter rain water to make a period cramp removal tea (expansion energy!). worked immediately for me and a friend who was going through the same problem haha

I think of mars energy as the catabolic force in the universe. So, yes there's a lot of bad you can do with destruction. However, there's good and a necessity for it's existence. For instance, destroying germs or invaders, controlled burnings for new growth, clearing out the debris if you will, also definitely protection.

So I have a concept I am currently working on and I would like to get your feedback. I am working on making colored flame spell candles by infusing the color changing chemical into the wax. The idea I had behind this is that as far as I am aware, color plays a big role in practice. I was thinking something along the lines of having a white candle with white flame and dried mint and a spearmint essential oil for an Air Candle or maybe a green one with a green flame

I was going to get another book and I honestly just started watching your channel the last few days & I did not know about Little Cup of Magic! So of course the other book is saved for later & I bought yours. I think LA is lucky to have a spirit like yours...SoCal needs it I feel like. I’m in Ventura County...and Ive just been trying to get through how I feel since the quarantine. So I am trying to help people anyway I can even if it’s just meditating and praying about healing our community & the world. I had major dreams before it happened so I get worried....makes me feel like if I dreamt about it...it means it has to do with a family member. So I’m trying to be safe learn how I can use my abilities to help us...& anyone who I can in general . But your a ray of sunshine and thank u for always thinking of how to help us learn more.
It's so funny to me, in an "it takes all kinds" sense, that I clicked on this because I vibe a lot with space and stars and whatnot, and you're just like "Not my cup of tea, couldn't finish the book!" Which I fully respect of course. But your review still makes me want to buy the books, which shows you're a good honest reviewer! Correspondences always give me the snoozes though, better work through that if I'm going to make planetary magic work for me from the sounds of it (I'm a lazy witch)
Examining this book and some of the other reviews you've done actually raised a question for me that I'd be curious to hear your input on. Have you ever run into an instance in your research where you felt like what was being branded as witchcraft was just a form of rebranded cultural theft? I grew up with Jicarilla and Navajo religious practice and sometimes feel like certain books and teachers borrow/steal those principles for profit
