Hey. I know it’s been a while, but the Orion Nebula is so bright you can use a planters image stacker for it. I use the ASI CAP software, it’s free to download and use. I’ve taken photos you wouldn’t even believe with it and a 3000 frame video stacked. You can see all sorts of color and cloudiness. Happy star hunting.

Ι have recently bought this telescope! The still images that you have taken are absolutely amazing! How do you do that? You can even see the ice caps on Mars! One more question: have you ever tried the Andromeda Galaxy, or any other galaxies? How do they look? I saw your video with the 10 inch, is it a big difference? Thank you!!!
@AstronoMinas
@AstronoMinas 3 года назад
Hi! The Mars picture was taken in october 2020 when Mars was closest to the Earth. It is s a stacking of 1400 frames from a 3 minute video. I can see many more galaxys through the eyepieces than I could capture with a camera. The objects looks much more exciting in visual astronomy sessions, but some details like braces and gas clouds are only visible in post processing. The 10 inch shows much more DSO's. I know it´s only a 0,5 magnitude than the 8 inch, but is much more faster F/4.7. This means more light. For example: the 10 inch transforms the M15 cluster in completely separated stars. The 8 inch stay a half step back: the cluster looks fuzzy yet. Andromeda is great in both, but the 10 inch shows the neighbor galaxys a little better. I tend to use the 10 inch for DSO and the 8 for planetary. Jupiter and Saturn are not so good to image yet. Andromeda will be visible around here only in august. Thanks for watching!

Hi. No, my dobs are not motorized. I do the tracking manually with many short videos. To this technique works your fiderscope needs to be dead spot on and the base very smooth. Hey please answer this, I want a telescope to understand the sky first and then start astrophotography so many people in my circle and group and youtube videos recommended me an 8 inch Dobsonian but I am confused to choose between an 8 and 10 and I really care about weight and portability because in my city which comes in 8 or 7 light pollution and there are no nearby dark skies, at least in 500 km so could you recommend with your experience which to buy and any pollution filter probably and some equipment with it too but for basic understanding, like lens cap, etc and would it be a big task to collimation of it. And what about the deep sky? Also, I have heard you could see much more than you can capture in detail? true? please answer
@AstronoMinas
@AstronoMinas 3 года назад
Hi. The 8 inch is the workhorse scope. It's light, affordable and portable. The 10 inch is the first "big scope". It's heavy, fast and will take more time to colimate than the 8 inch, but it shows DSO better. Much better? Yes, 0.5 mag it's the difference between see a galaxy or observe it. The 10 inch collects more light too what could help to manage the light pollution ptoblem. I have and use both scopes, the 8 inch is simple and lighter and shows many nightsky highlights. The 10 inch is tricky and heavier. If you choose the 8 inch you will ever ask yourself what a 10 could show better. This is an endless astronomy's forum discution but I definitely grab the 10 inch. The weight, cost and time to colimate worth the views. Thanks for watching!

Believe me. The human eye can see the 0.5 magnitude difference. I did the test with 8 and 10 inch side by side with the same brand 25mm eyepiece in both in M15. The 10 inch splits and shows more stars. If you have the money, space and strength to lift weight, take the 10 inch. The equipment you will collect through the years. Always will appear a new necessity. A 10mm and a 25mm eyepieces and a 2x Barlow it's only you need to start.

@AstronoMinas
@AstronoMinas 3 года назад

Why does saturn look clearer than jupiter although he's more far away
@AstronoMinas
@AstronoMinas 3 года назад
Hi. Saturn allows more time filming than Jupiter. Jupiter rotates really fast. One day in Jupiter lasts only 10 hours. If we film more than 3 minutes the image will blur causing lost of definition. This effect is known by blur rotation. This only allows short videos to stack less frames. We have a less detailed image but is possible to see the equatorial bands and storms. Bigger telescopes can compensate this effect gattering more light. In Saturn we can film 15 to 30 minutes without this effect. More frames, more details and better clear images. Thanks for watching!

Yes, DSO's on the 10 inch is a little better. Not so much, but is enough to split dim stars in Omega Centauri, M13 and M15.

What lens are you using? I have the standard 25mm plus a 2x and 3 x lens but I still only get dots when focusing on planets.

Hi Matt! For planets I use only the camera and a Barlow lens, actually the GSO 2,5X. Thanks for watching!
