I used to know an old man who would sprinkle spinach seeds in a line on top of the snow and cover them with an inch of very loose dry manure finely ground up. Then he put a tarp over it until temps were above freezing. He always had spinach early in spring.
I love things like this! We have an old gentleman that loves a couple doors down. I love sitting and talking to him about his garden, he really knows his stuff!
"...not lima beans. I can't with those." I'm with your wife on that one. Not sure what her reasoning is for not wanting lima beans... mine is that they are just not good. Like AT ALL! They taste like plastic to me.
In my area we paid $30 per panel and then however much the T posts were. We probably averaged somewhere around $50 per panel, but they will sure last us a long time!
AWESOME FAMILY. We are on a fixed income that hasn't been fixed. Lol😂 We are having to learn so much, so fast. Thank you for teaching and sharing. GOD bless yall ❤😊
I just love them 😂. I feel like when we first started we spent far more than we saved, but the more you learn the more you can save and in the long run it’s worth all the time, effort, and learning to get started!
I garden year round indoors and outdoors, of course I don't have any young kids around. And I don't have my granddaughter with me that often anymore because she's in school. We were 3 degrees this morning. 🥶🥶🥶 There's still snow on the ground. Not much, less than 2 inches. I have two outdoor bed's and despite covering them with several layers of bird netting, frost cover, plastic sheeting, a clear tote and even Mylar around the base, they are frozen solid. So fortunately starting tomorrow we will start unthawing and it'll be nearly 60 degrees at the end of the week. Whatever didn't make it will be given to the chickens. My daughter got me a popup greenhouse for Christmas and it has a space heater inside. My plants still looked a little frozen but whatever doesn't recover will get replaced. I start seeds all the time so there will be something to plug in it's place. And my biggest seed order will be next week, trying to get whatever I can including fruits this year. 🤞🤞
