I got a plum tree from your nursery and I’m not quite sure what exactly it doesn’t like. I planted in the ground and filled in the hole with your soil mix.. it is in a gopher basket, because I have gophers, the leaves are down all the time, not falling off. It’s clay soil around it. It’s normally 10 degrees cooler where it’s planted than in LA. I placed a thick layer of cedar mulch on top. I may answer my own question. I may not water it as much as I could or should, but every time I’m on site the soil is moist, so I’m assuming it’s not the issue of under watering but I might be wrong. It gets good watering once a week. Again, on the hottest days in LA it doesn’t get above 80 over there.
Plum trees require plenty of water. Are the tips of the leaves brown? If so, that's a sign of lack of water. Water daily. The soil should moist a foot down.
