Hi! I have the same lime colored leaved anise hyssop in my zone 5 part sun, southern Vermont garden, coming into it’s 4th summer. I love it, the bees love it, the hummers love it, the birds love it. I love how dependably it appears every year all over the garden. The seedlings are very easy to transplant. I use the leaves for tea and early salads. It peeks out very early in the season. So again, it’s hardy to zone 5 as well. Thank you!

Hi, you are very knowledgeable about plants. After planting fruit trees and blueberry bushes, I started several bee hives for pollinators. Planted Anise Hyssop from seed, its amazing planted over a tree stump. Just got a (short toothed) Mountain Mint plant to provide a food source for my honeybees. Clover seed was also spread as a groundcover to add fertility when its mowed down. Deer can be a problem here and the bunnies eat plastic fence.

Your video was full of useful information. I just planted one today in Ontario, Canada. I bought the plant by chance because it said part shade and native and pollinators love it. That it is edible and smells and tastes like black licorice is a bonus. How had I never heard of it before this spring? Thank you! I'm subscribing.

Aweee your garden is lovely! I hate that the deer are uncontrollable cuz I know it's such a disappointment, for me even, when the neighbors' cats lay on my garden plants while stalking the birds we feed. So annoying! I actually ordered and planted an Anise Hyssop last year and it seems to be thriving here in Georgia. My goal is a beautiful thriving tea garden in a sectioned area. I did collect some seeds and this year I may just let it reseed itself for a bigger plant. Thank you for this bulk of knowledge! I will be checking out your other videos and sub'd. ❤

My agastaches stopped blooming just a bit before frost. Imma pinch them until July 1st for flower delay and also for more blooming branches. ☻
@NativePlantChannel
@NativePlantChannel 4 года назад
Yes, once they start blooming they will go until frost. They can be pinched, which as you say will delay flowering, but will help them branch out more. I prefer to reduce the amount of maintenance so I don't pinch.

Terrific video. Liked & subscribed. Your garden is beautiful, varied and healthy....well, except for the deer candy! I am interested in planting pollinator attractor plants. I became concerned last summer. My trellised cucumbers had hundreds of blossoms....like a yellow wall....and I'll bet I didn't harvest a dozen cuc's. Lack of pollinators??? Not sure, but the agastache foeniculum seems to be a bee/butterfly magnet and that certainly can't hurt. The songbirds are a bonus/reward. AND it is native to the area (Mid-Atlantic). So, thanks to your video, Anise Hyssop gets a solid check mark. The other attractor I'm going with is Coreopsis. Purple & yellow....nice. Any other recommendations would be appreciated. I'm in 6b; just north of Philadelphia. Thanks again for a great video......COME ON SPRING!!!

Outside Pride has seven variaties of Agastache seeds. They get going here in Seattle so I think they'll go for you in Vancouver. Anything in the mint family is pretty tough.

@@NativePlantChannel Thank you! I hate loosing this flower because there’s nothing like it as far as the bees go in my new garden. They’re crazy for it! BTW: I have what’s supposed to be fall bloomers blooming right now in FL - like Giant Iron Weed. Don’t know what to make of it.
