I just discovered your channel and I am really enjoying your videos. I have been searching far and wide for this level of plant identification. Your channel is amazing. I’m preparing to learn so much from you.
Interesting video. Chickweed took over half my garden space last year, nearly drove me crazy, so finding out it was tasty to eat and has medicinal properties makes me less inclined to try to get rid of it. A few years ago my wife and I made dandelion tincture because we always have a bumper crop of dandelions and, also, henbit which I learned was medicinal as well. Perhaps I should quit trying to grow veggies and just sit back and wait until until the weeds start growing and harvest them instead for tinctures, teas, and other things.
It's also an important spring source of nectar for the bees and other pollinators. I used to pull it, but now let it stay until seed drop for when the cold returns.
Great video! I need to watch more of yours! Are all varieties of Chickweed edible? Would it grow all winter long in NE Ohio? We get cold winters here but I don’t know how extreme of cold you’re talking about.
